"So seriously kid, what happened?"
Hawks questioned with his fake smile disappearing as soon as he closed the door.

"You know the fuckers who I handled before that we're trying to attack that girl?"

"Yea?"

"Those ones who were attacking me had the same masks on, a plague mask."

"Well that's a new one."
Hawks gave me a worried look before flopping on the couch in front of me now.

I was laying sideways with my head resting on the arm rest, he was doing basically the same but spinning his feathers for entertainment.

"You're telling me, just don't tell dad about this. He'll literally throw a hissy fit."

"Mr.Gloomy having a hissy fit? That's a sight I'd like to see."
He joked while taking the last of my sushi since he would always finish whatever food I didn't want.

"Trust me, speaking from experience it's not pleasant."
"I never said it would be kid, it sounds like hell, but an entertaining hell."
He chuckled while I sighed to myself.

"It is, guess class will be fun."
I tried to levitate the situation because both of us just seemed too tired to deal with anymore depressing shit today.

"I'm sure your old man is going to have a time bossing you around."

"Him and the rest of the teachers, they all treat me like I'm their kid, literally this time."

We both laughed together for a few minutes since it was true I was basically the favorite of all the teachers since they knew me.
And they also knew the power I had behind me, so that was helpful.

"Well I can't say I blame em, you do get into trouble all the time."
He retorted while I threw an empty plastic water bottle at him in protest.

"At least I can bail myself out, the day I can't is when you can tell me that shit."
He rolled his eyes and caught the bottle while placing it down on the floor next to us.

"I hope I never see that day kid, cause as far as I'm concerned you'd have to get into some deep shit for that to happen."

I did appreciate the support Hawks always gave me whenever I would say anything like this.
He was a great 'wingman' in his words.

"Yea well I hope not either cause I'll be damned if I have to be begging in your arms thanking you for saving me."
I giggled while he threw the water bottle back at me as a defense.

"I'll have you know there's way too many people that would kill to have me do that."
He said smugly with a shitface grin plastered on his face.

"I'm sure my dad would say 'over my dead body' for that one."

"I'm sure hed follow through with it too."
He chuckled while I just nodded since I had reached my social and physical limit for the day.
Hawks seemed to be in the same situation since he looked worn out to say the least.

His eyes would close every once and while with him basically waking himself up as we talked.

*Ding*

My phone went off and I had to physically force myself to grab it off the floor from how exchusred I was at the point.

Lucky for me Hawks was basically knocked completely out now snoring on the couch.

My heart warmed at the thought of the girl, she was adorable but I wanted to know what she froze when she saw Kai before.

He was definitely the sort of guy who always got what he wanted, when he wanted.
That was painfully obvious with the way he presented himself.

I swore I could hear the smugness through the phone.
But I guessed this was fine since dad said no guys at the house, didn't mean I couldn't go out with one.
Even though I doubted he counted this as a date.
And hell, if Hawks found out about this he would be throwing a party at the idea of me talking to a guy.

I set my phone down and watched Hawks basically snoring loud enough to rumble the whole house.

"Wonder what that guy wants."

Again it was painfully obvious that there was something off about Kai.
He seemed way too confident in himself to be as 'defenseless' or as calm as he presented himself.

Especially since when he touched my arm, it was the uncovered hand.
He was trying to manipulate my arm, if not kill me.
My thoughts burned in my head while I relaxed back into the couch and grabbed one of Hawks feathers to mess with.

Though why would he invite me to dinner if he wanted to kill me, or why would he bother thanking me after saving him.
With his quirk, it was undoubtedly very strong.
He could've saved himself, and I knew that but he didn't even try to.

"Maybe he was testing me, that would've made sense-"
I thought out loud before Hawks chucked a pillow at me.

"Go to sleep kid. You have school."
"Thanks makeshift Dad."

I giggled while he rolled his eyes playfully at me and went back to sleep.

He saw Hawks as well, that should've made him question immediately if I was a pro or not.
It apparently took him by surprise that I went to school, so he didn't seem to recognize me off the news.

Which I mean, that was good but it still didn't answer why he would lie about the girl, why he would want to see me tomorrow, and why he seemed so terrified of me when he couldn't manipulate my body.

Though after a while of thinking to myself my eyes fluttered shut with a small huff I fell asleep.
