Aftermath

(Y/n) POV
-
His face went pale.
He visibly looked stunned at my question.

"No."
He eventually said after a few moments of just staring at me dumbfounded.

Honestly he just seemed more surprised at my actions rather than the question.
It seemed he had never had someone show him kindness, without having some sort of obligation to.

Granted he definitely had the threat of killing them with ease but I didn't have that looming over my head.

He saw that, and he knew he didn't have any sort of threat he could push against me.
Other than my dad, but he didn't seem to be paying any attention to that fact.

I grabbed hold of his hand and put down the bullets on the floor.

His gaze never broke from mine, neither of us just couldn't seem to look away.

"Anything you need, you come to me first."
My words were soft but we both broke our gazes when I said this.

Tears welled in his eyes, it was clear by how glossy they were at my words.
He didn't say anything, it didn't seem like he needed to anyways.

"You really are an angel."
He practically whimpered letting the tease fall from his eyes and gripping my hand hard.

"Your Guardian Angel, now come here."
I let out a small sigh of relief while I pulled him into my arms.

He started completely breaking down while his tears ran down my neck.

I could feel him shaking in my gasp with his arms barely able to hold me close to him.

"You're safe now."
I whispered while he finally gained back the composure enough to pull me tight against him.

"I'm a monster, why the hell would you defend me."
That came out a lot more of a demand than a question but I just rubbed his back.

"You're not a monster, if you were I would've killed you the instant I knew you tried to kill me before."

I tried being comforting but it really wasn't working so I figured it was best to be just honest at this point.

I could feel him wince at my words slightly but he didn't say anything back.

"I figured you were dangerous, but when you found out you couldn't kill me I watched fear run through you eyes. If that didn't happen, I wasn't lying when I said I would've killed you at the restaurant. A monster wouldn't have feared me, a human would."

He began sobbing harder as he moved down from the couch and was now basically clinging to me kneeling on the floor.

"I-"

"Dont talk, for once just let someone else take care of you."
This shut him up immediately with him just starting to slow his crying but it didn't seem easy for him.

He had almost died today, and well I guessed he lost his will to live a few hours prior as well.

I let him get out his tears for the next few minutes, he still seemed to be trying to calm himself down the whole time.

His breaths were staggered and it seemed like he had never felt this sort of pain before.

"I can't risk my dad seeing you here, I would offer you to stay for as long as you need but I would need you to make sure he wouldn't see you."
I finally said quietly when he had calmed down to a point where it looked like he wasn't going to break down anymore.

"I have places I can go, my house will be fixed as soon as I get back."
He said finally looking like he was taking every ounce of his being in order to sound like his usual self.

"You say that like I'm giving you an option for tonight."
I giggled a bit while he looked up at me now with his puffy eyes still glossy.

"You're staying in my arms where I know for a fact you're not in harms way. Shirgaraki wants you to suffer, he also wants those bullets, with me around he will never lay a hand on you again."

He seemed taken aback by my words while he just nodded hesitantly.

This time he surprised me by letting out a breathless laugh after a few moments of silence between us.

"I still have my powers, but I've never felt my powerless in my life."
He admitted while I tilted his head up to me.

"Well that's kinda what happens when you cry in front of someone, now take this off and relax."
I tugged at his green jacket that was soaked with blood, I wasn't sure who's but it was discomforting non the less.

He slipped it off his shoulders now just kneeling in front of me with a ripped open shirt and his hand still trembling.

"H-how can I repay you?"
He asked quietly while I just sighed to myself and rolled my eyes at him.

"Don't make me regret saving you, that's all I ask."
I giggled a bit louder while he chuckled to himself it was a broken one but it still sounded nice hearing him relax a bit.

"That's all?"

"And maybe this."
I smirked before pulling him into a kiss, he winced at my movement but soon kissed back.

Breaking away I smiled while he just was a bit more breathless than before.

"Now that was more of the 'thank you' I was expecting before."
I giggled while he let out a small scoff.

"I will never understand you."

"You don't have to, I'd rather have some things remain a mystery for you."

He glared at me for a moment before resting his hands around my waist.

"KID ARE YOU GOOD?!"
I immediately jumped hearing Hawks burst through the door and basically yell that.

"I'm fine Birdbrain."
I laughed slightly pulling away from Kai while Hawks eyes widened seeing our position.

"Okay I can't tell if you have the best or worst taste in the world."

"Huh?"

"I need to borrow you both."
