Chapter Eight

*Sia*

I watched him leave.

And I didn't say anything about overhearing their conversation either. So, Cameron was going to have his heat cycle soon. That was nice of Bill to allow him time off because of it. And it doesn't bother me one bit that he was planning to go out tonight to have some stranger to caress his body and do all kinds of pleasurable things with him.

Nope, doesn't bother me at all.

In fact, he can screw all the guys in the world, and I would be okay with it. He can go out there to find some good looking Alpha who was more than willing to give him exactly what he needs. Honestly, it's not getting to me.

"Sia."

I mean what do I care what he does with his own time? Sure, he's Tristan's best friend so maybe I should look out for him a little. But he's a grown ass adult that can do whatever the hell he wants.

"Sia."

It's not like I have a problem with him going out there looking for anyone just to fuck his brains out, someone who will see him naked, kiss those lips, and give him the release he's obviously looking for.

The sudden memory of his moaning sounds from the other night plague my mind like a sledgehammer.

Yep. Not fucking bothered at all.

"Sia!"

"What?!" I snap.

"I think the counter is pretty much clean fifteen minutes ago, you can see your damn reflection in it." Toby snaps right back.

I look down at the counter realizing I was wiping it a little too hard. I had completely zoned out thinking nothing but of Cameron and his potential night. Throwing the towel in the bucket on the ground behind the counter I look at the time. Shift started five minutes ago, and I wasn't even aware of it.

"You alright there buddy?" Bill asks me as he comes up to the counter on the other side.

People were already starting to trickle in. "Yep. Fine." I say as Toby, a part timer, starts taking the first orders of the night.

"You seem a little tense."

I turn to grab a few mugs for some draft beers I overheard one of the customers requested. "Just getting ready for the night, is all."

"Mmhm." He gives me a look but doesn't say anything as he walks away starting a conversation with one of the locals of this place.

And me, I couldn't help but look up at the clock on the wall at the time. What time was he planning to head out to the city? Was he going to wait a couple of hours or head out right away? Why did I even care?

Once my first break hit at seven thirty I immediately called Tristan.

"Hey!" His voice sounded a bit chipper this evening making me wonder if Axel was home for the night.

"Hey, I wanted to call and see how you were holding up." I shuffle on my feet, looking at the breakroom door for any of the other employees who might interrupt.

Namely, Bill.

"I'm doing alright. Axel's home so everything is good."

Knew it. Tristan only sounded that happy when Axel was around. "How's the baby?"

"Good. Kicking up a storm and demanding weird food combinations. But good."

"Cool." I say and bit my lower lip.

Silence ensues. "Okay, what is it?" He asks with a tone bordering knowing that I called for a specific reason.

"Nothing. Just wanted to call my favorite person in the world and see how he was doing." I play it off.

"Uh huh." He didn't sound convinced at all. "You want something. Spill it Sia."

"No really, I just wanted to hear your voice, see how you were doing, how the baby was doing. Thought maybe you were there by yourself or if Cameron was there with you until Axel got home."

"Oh, he was. He came after work and waited until Axel got here which was a lot sooner than expected which made me extremely happy." And he sounded happy too which brought a smile to my face.

But I caught on one single word. "Was?" I couldn't help asking.

"Yeah he had something to go do I guess. He didn't say."

Ugh. I knew exactly what it was. "How long ago did he leave?"

Silence beats on the other side. "Curious to know why you're curious." He slowly states with a hint of suspicion.

Oh, uh. Clearing my throat I tell him, "Not that curious just starting conversation with you. I don't really care honestly." I wince cause it's apparent I really fucking do.

"Riiight. He left about...twenty minutes ago I guess?"

My heart lifted and sunk at the same time. That meant he was home still but was more than likely getting ready for a night into the city. I wasn't quite sure why it was bothering me so much but the idea of him getting hurt or being left unprotected didn't sit well with me. What if he met an Alpha that was too rough, too possessive or didn't stop when he asks him too?

I know Cameron can hold his own, but he was still an Omega and no matter how tough he thinks he is he would never be able to overthrow an Alpha.

"Oh, so Axel just got home not that long ago." I decide to say to throw him off that I was remotely interested in what his best friend is doing right now.

"Yep!" He once again chippered making me smile again.

Toby comes in the breakroom, and I knew that was my cue that my break was over. "I have to go, got to get back to work."

"Okay, have fun at your new job."

"Is that jealousy I hear?" I couldn't help teasing.

"Of course not. I'm happy that you get to work and experience interacting with a bunch of strangers and getting a paycheck every other week."

He didn't sound happy at all. I knew it bothered him that he wasn't contributing to helping Axel with living expenses. For someone who was forced to hide behind four walls for nearly more than half their life he was bursting to wanting to get out there in the real world. He was denied with so many things and he was curious to know it all.

But he was pregnant right now. As a male Omega, heavy with child, it was dangerous for him. Their pregnancies weren't like that of a female. They have to be more cautious. Besides, Axel wouldn't have it any other way right now. He was way too overprotective of him. Not that he was keeping him indoors or anything, but I get where he was coming from when it came to Tristan.

He just experienced a kidnapping, starvation, and near rape. Thank God Lincoln wasn't who everyone thought he was. He never planned to rape Tristan even though that's what Han Nolan wanted from him. It could have seriously gone sideways. And Tristan was still way to naïve and innocent of what was out there. He needed to be slowly coaxed into it and getting a job right away wasn't one of them.

"Hey, when the right time comes you'll be able to get a job and experience everything you always wanted but right now focus on your and the baby's health. That's what's important right?" I ask gently.

He sighs heavily. "Yeah, I know." He sounded a bit dejected.

"How about we go to the ice cream parlor. We'll even go pick you up a pickle on the way." I hear Axel next to him.

I couldn't help the large grin. He never could say no to him whenever he got like this. As soon as those eyes turned down and that voice sounding sad beyond all reason Axel couldn't help wanting to do anything to bring his spirits back up again.

"Oh! That sounds nice and the baby completely agrees. Talk to you later, Sia. Me and baby are going to get spoiled right now. Love you, bye!"

"Love you too." I chuckle as he hangs up.

Heading back out to the bar, I see we picked up majorly during my phone call with Tristan. Quickly getting back to it, I slightly forget all about Cameron and his mission. Slightly. But he was always in the back of my mind and watching a few people trying to get lucky would always bring it right back to the forefront.

I wanted to call him and try to interrupt whatever he was doing right now but that would only make it to obvious. I didn't even have a good enough excuse to even call him anyways.

Another two hours pass and the night progresses like normal. It wasn't until I felt the buzzing in my pocket that I realize it was my phone. Quickly taking it out to see who it was I become shocked to see Cameron's name displayed as the caller.

I don't hesitate to answer. "Hello?"

Heavy breathing is what meets my ear. Instant alarm hits me. "Cam?" I walk away to somewhere more quiet.

"Sia, I-I think someone is following me right now." He whispers lowly sounding a bit panicked.

"Where are you?" I demand going completely protective mode as I race to the breakroom to get my car keys.

"Louver, near the mall strip." I could hear that he was walking fast.

Damn it that was forty minutes away from here. "Go into Charles Diner. They're always packed at this time. Find a spot where you can be seen from the front counter and don't move. I'll be there in twenty minutes. And whatever you do stay where there are people until you get there."

"R-Right." He breathes a slight sigh of relief making me feel ten feet tall that I was the first person he called when he felt threatened.

In the mix of fear and worry I shouldn't feel happy right now, but I fucking did, and I wasn't sure what that meant. But I couldn't think on that when I rushed out of the room, quickly telling Bill the situation who immediately shooed me away to get going and made me promise to call him as soon as I retrieved him.

Getting into my car I drove just as fast as I did on the night I found out that Tristan was kidnapped and all I could think about was that Cameron better be okay when I get there.
