Chapter Four.
Sameer was glad that he finally had a friend, a female friend!
But his friendship was not so simple as others. Students in the class would laugh at him and Pari. They wouldn't care about what exactly Pari was going through. Her topic was just another entertainment for all.
Sameer never paid attention to anyone. He would always hear from one ear and leave from another.
Whenever any student mocked at Pari, he would console her and try to change the topic.
Their friendship had become so intense that whole college knew about them. There were also some rumours about them being in a relationship but proved to be fake as they both never saw each other with that intention.
Pari would cover her face with a scarf while coming to college or hanging out with Sameer but he would reluctantly remove it and would say her to be brave whatever may be the consequence.
Pari liked Sameer. Though he didn't have appealing looks or features, he was good at heart. He was an average looking boy with big round specs and hair neatly combed to a side with applied oil. She would think sometimes to let out her heart to him. She wanted to tell him how dearly he was to him, how she liked the way he would converse with her so politely and
with respect, how he would stand by her when someone would tease her. But to no avail! She knew that she was here just for few months and would never be accepted by him with such face. She knew that he deserved a better girl than her who would spend eternity with him. But she was glad that atleast they were best of friends.
-------------------------------------------
Semester was around the corner when all the students where glued to their books even in the canteen!
Sameer was also amongst them and would spend hours studying but never get any output.
On the other hand Pari would study wisely with a good timetable. She would never burn midnight lamps like rest of the students as she would study regularly and not particularly a day before examination.
By this time everyone had started liking her because of her respectful and helpful attitude towards all. Some would even take their doubts to her rather than approaching a professor as she would explain in a simpler way. The girls in the class started admiring her and extending friendship with her.
The class had come to know about her disease and so everyone had stopped mocking or laughing at her.
Sameer was happy that Pari was being accepted by everyone. His heart would pump a joy of satisfaction when he would see people mixing and talking with her in a friendly tone.
That day Sameer sat with his face buried in his book. Pari noticed it and gave him a tap on his head only to find him fast asleep. She shook her head in dismay and pushed him gently.
" Sam....Sam get up. Sam get up bell has rang already. We will be late for our class."
He muttered something in his sleep which was unclear. This time she shook him heavily and poured a glass of water on his face.
He got up quickly getting scared and then immediately stopped panting as soon as he saw Pari. He gave out a huge sigh and checked the time.
"Oh no angel! We are late. ."
He caught her hand and ran till their class was finally visible. They quickly knocked at the door but the professor signaled them to stay out. They looked at each other silently for a moment and then bursted out into a good laughter.
They sat on the floor and utilized the free time studying. Pari solved his each and every doubt.
Sameer was glad that he was actually understanding all the concepts now. Especially accounts! He was worst at it. And not to forget about economics, it was never his cup of tea. But when Pari used to explain him, he would listen keenly and digest each and every word of hers. She was his best tutor.
The bell rang and they entered the class after the professor left so that they can attend the next lecture. A group of senior students arrived and made some announcements and disappeared quickly. Not everyone heard them properly, even Sameer!
Pari got what they said and jumped up with joy. She started shaking Sameer as he was in his own world with headphones tucked in his ears.
"What?", he said removing the headphones.
"Don't you dare tell me that you didn't listen to the announcement Sam", she said rather annoyed.
"No-no, but I dont care about all that shit. They are just some freaking cultural group members. Iam sure they must be asking students to take part in some sort of shitty events", he said.
"Your such a jerk Sam! They announced about the Dj party. It's soon after our exams and Iam in. What about you?", Pari said smiling. From her words Sameer clearly noticed how excited and thrilled she was for the party but he refused as he was not interested.
"Come on Sam, what would I do there alone without you? You know that I want to spend my last few days memorable. Please say yes, please".
Sameer gave her a thumbs up sign and her happiness knew no bounds..
