Part 12

A/N's note : I just realized that I messed up with their ages but I can't go back and edit them back because it will get more messed up. So right now, Jungkook is 13 and Y/N is 10.

Jungkook's ears perked up when he heard a shuffling sound behind the tree he sat nearby too. Acting on reflex, he snatched his sword from the ground and stood up, his eyes searching for whatever that made the sound. Behind the big branch of the tree, he could see a small shadow moving, draped with a white fabric.

"Got you!" it shouted, and that's when he realized.

It was a human, and it was a girl.

Jungkook's breath hitched in his throat. He had countless questions in his mind, how did that girl ended up here? And what should he do? His father would have wanted him to capture her and bring her to him, but he wasn't that merciless and he wasn't even sure if his weak self could capture her in the first place. Jungkook took slow steps towards the tree, carefully dodging the dried up leaves on the pruned grass. With the shorter distance, he could make out her appearance.

The girl had long brunette hair that was messily pinned into a braid, the wind occasionally blowing her soft bangs, She was wearing a tattered gown that hung loosely on her small shoulders. It made Jungkook sad, seeing her wearing such filthy clothes while he is provided with the finest self tailored clothes. The girl was sitting on the grass, her legs in the frog position as her hands remain cupped in front of her. She smiled brightly and pulled her hand slowly, releasing what she hid in her petite hands. He giggled when he saw a purple butterfly fluttering away.

"How innocent" that was what he thought.

The girl pouted, her eyes following the butterfly. The cool breeze hit them stronger, blowing her hair behind. Jungkook could see her face better now and it made him gasp. He remembers that almond-shaped eyes, he remembers exactly how it sparkled and flowed with warmth.

It was the same girl he saw three years ago from his room. Thinking about it, she looked exactly the same even though it has been a long time. She still looked beautiful, her straight hair still bounced softly behind her, her smile was still filled with the same warmth and mischief. She took his breath away, just like she did three years ago.

Jungkook almost shrieked in surprise when the girl pounced forward, capturing the butterfly in her hands again. Jungkook took a deep breath and let it out slowly as he hid behind the tree. The girl giggled and mumbled words and it made Jungkook panic. He doesn't want to lose her again, he wants to approach and talk to her. He wants to know her name and hear her voice.

But how?

He can't randomly pop out from the tree and wave at her. It would make her freak out, and it will make his reputation as a royal family fall flat on the ground. No prince would greet a mere peasant unless he wants something. Jungkook grabbed his raven hair and slightly pulled it, trying to figure the best way to approach her without making it awkward. His doe-eyes then landed on his sword, glittering in the moonlight. Strange, he doesn't remember the moon being this bright before. He twirled it skillfully in his hand, and then an idea popped in his mind. Without thinking, he approached the girl who was busy peeking into her hands to see him.

" Who are you?" Jungkook asked as he placed the sword on her shoulder, making sure there's a safe distance between it's sharp surface and her delicate neck.  The girl shrieked and accidently let her hands open, making the butterfly escape. Her eyes followed the butterfly and then landed on his. Jungkook tried his best to make his face look as intimidating as he could. He was actually experienced in it, since he practices that look on his mirror everyday for his father. But right now, he is sure that if she looked deep into his eyes, she could see how it's exploding in fondness for her.

The girl's face looked prettier closer and he suddenly had the huge urge to bring her face closer and memorize all the scars and flaws on her small face. Instead, he slightly pressed the sword to her neck and repeated the question again. The girl broke the eye contact and started staring at everything else expect his eyes.

"I-I" she stuttered.

Seeing her stuttering in fear, Jungkook slowly lowered the sword form her neck. The handmade sword now hanged on his hand, it's tip digging into the ground. The moment he took the sword away, the girl wrapped her hand around her neck and massaged it, her eyes still bore to the ground. Jungkook knew that the way she chose to approach her is not the best way, but he didn't have another choice expect that. Jungkook just hoped that the girl won't hate him for that.

He loosened his grip on his sword, making it fall with a loud thud and carefully sat in front of her. It was a technique he always see his father would do. To look intimidating, Jungkook's father would always look down on him, or have something in his hand that can make his knees shake in fear, and to make sure he doesn't look like his father, he should do the exact opposite of it.

That was the first time he found the little piece of his father's teaching actually useful, by doing the exact opposite.

The girl flinched by the sudden closeness and it hurt his heart seeing her getting uncomfortable with him. He wanted the girl to get comfortable with him, to look at him just like the way he looks at her. He bended downwards, trying to see her soulful eyes again but the girl moved her head away, a tint of red spreading on her cheeks.

" What's your name?" Jungkook asked the question he dreaded to know.

No answer.

Jungkook sighed seeing her being difficult.

" I got no other choice but to bring you to the king if you refuse to answer my questions"

That made the girl look back at him, her hair flying everywhere by the sudden movement. Jungkook backed away immediately, or else her braid would have hit her nose. Panic was written all over her face and her mouth gaped open like a goldfish.

" I...uhm" she fiddled with her gown.

Fine, reverse psychology it is...

" Stand up, you're wasting my time" Jungkook whispered and tried to grab her hand. The girl brought her small hands to her chest and fell backwards to avoid him.

" I'M AN ANGEL!!" the girl shouted, her hands brought forward again.

" what?" Jungkook furrowed his eyebrows. " I don't have time to play"

" No, I'm telling the truth!" the girl said eustatically, her hands flying around. " I'm an angel. You can't tell anyone about me. Or else, I will vanish into thin air"

Jungkook's mouth gaped open by her answer. Clearly, he didn't expect such an absurd answer from the girl in front of him.

Jungkook started getting a headache. He always wondered where the mysterious girl came from but this was not what he expected. Angel? As long as he know, such petty creatures do not exist in this world. They were only taboos created by people to tuck their kids into the bed or teach them moral stories. Jungkook did read some stories about angels sometimes in his past, and he really liked this one story about angels but  his father threw the book away after seeing him getting attached to it.

" But where are your wings?" Jungkook asked her, trying his best to not look like he was given the hardest math equation to answer.

" Ahh! You won't be able to see my wings because you're a human!" the girl said again, this time being more confident.

Jungkook had a hard time figuring out if she is telling the truth or not. He always loved angels but seeing one now doesn't seem believable. But the girl in front of him do looked like she fell from heaven. No, fall wasn't the answer. The girl looked like she was actually escorted carefully from heaven to earth.

" Please don't tell anyone about me, or else I will vanish. I don't want to vanish!" the girl clasped her hands together and pleaded to him, completely ignoring the fact how dumbfounded he looked.

" What's your name?" he found himself asking her.

" I don't have a name" the girl shook her head. Jungkook sighed sadly. He spent three years of his life what was her name only to found out she doesn't even have one. He found himself tugging his hair again, trying to come up with the best solution.

Maybe he should just bring her to his father. Maybe he should just walk back to his room and pretend that they didn't even met. But he couldn't do that. He doesn't want to lost the girl, the girl that made his heart flutter just like how those princesses felt when they met their prince charming in the fairytales.

" Come with me" Jungkook said and stood up. The girl looked at him, curiosity on her face.

" Come on" he said, giving her his hand. He knew there's no reason for the girl to take his hand and trust him to bring her somewhere. He could bring her anywhere, even to the majestically standing throne in the castle, where his father would probably be. There was no reason for the girl to trust a boy who just placed a sword on her neck.

Jungkook sighed and tried to think of a better approach but his mind went blank with what happened next.

The girl took his hand hesitantly.

We both wake up in different places in different worlds,

but under the glittering sky, we held hands and looked at each other's eyes

And the moon witnessed this loving memory of us
