Angelica Comes Back From England!
1789
Aaron's POV
Angelica dragged me along to the Hamilton household. She had forced me to come along and have dinner with her family.
"Angelica, I don't want to go!" I whined.
"I just came back from London, I want to see my sister! Plus Laurens and Peggy are going to be there with the rest of your group and Kitty an-" I cut her off.
"Alright!" I threw my hands up, "you don't need to debate with me."
"Good. Come on, or we'll be late." she slowed down her pace as we trudged up the hill. "So Kitty sent me a letter saying she had gotten together with Mulligan over the summer, did you know?"
"Uh, no?" I replied.
She nodded, "um, did something happen between you and Alexander?" she looked at me straight in the eye.
"Just small arguments," she didn't believe me.
"Aaron Burr, if it's more than 'small arguments' I swear-"
"Calm down, my dearest Angel. It's just a few, I promise." I lied.
Me and Hamilton had been having arguments almost every week. We had different political ideas, different opinions on how the government should be run. Everything.
"Angelica!" Eliza burst out of the door and wrapped her arms around Angel.
"Eliza!" she replied and they both started laughing.
"The Schuyler sisters," a new voice came from the door. Hamilton.
"Alexander,"Angel said. "It's good to see you."
"Burr," he acknowledged me anxiously, "I, um, didn't know you were coming."
"Angel dragged me here," I told him.
"Aaron," Angel said sternly.
"Sorry, dearest."
"It's funny how tight a leash she has you on," Laurens said laughing, appearing in the door.
"John," a warning word from Peggy who appeared at the door next to him. "That's not nice."
"All the Schuylers have 'tight leashes'" Mulligan appeared behind Laurens, apparently hearing Laurens comment. Kitty not far behind.
"Where's Nelia and Lafayette?" Angel asked.
"Somewhere inside," Hamilton responded. "Last I saw them, they were kissing in the closet."
"Alex," Eliza reprimanded her husband.
"What? It's true!" he exclaimed.
"We just had this talk," she crossed her arms, " things are to stay private, and kind."
"Woah, Nelia and Lafayette? Sure," Laurens said and Peggy smacked him in the back of the head.
"John Laurens!" she scolded.
"Yes, Mrs. Laurens?" he said with a grin.
"Ugh, you're insufferable!" Peggy cried.
"But you love me for it," Laurens teased.
"Shut up." she hissed, red to the face.
Eliza appeared to have forgiven Hamilton as she was now kissing him.
"Awwww," Kitty said. "God, where is Nelia when you need her?"
"Angelica tell this man, John Adams spends the summer with his family."
"Angelica tell my wife John Adams doesn't have a real job anyways"
"You're not joining us wait?"
"I'm afraid I can't join you upstate. "
"Alexander, I came all this way-"
"She came all this way!"
As they continued to argue, I felt awkward, and looked down at my feet.
A small child tumbled in-between them Angel, Eliza and Hamilton, stopping their argument.
"Aunty Angie!" The boy ran to Angelica, giving her a hug.
"Oh my God! Philip!" She knelt down and hugged the boy back. "You've grown!"
"I'm a poet!" He squealed.
"He's a very good poet." Eliza confirmed.
Philip started bouncing up and down. And, to my surprise, Eliza started beat-boxing. "I'm seven years old/ out here is really cold/ mommy, can we go back in?"
All of us applauded and laughed as the young Hamilton took a bow.
A small toddler trotted after Philip. She giggled and fell over. Eliza swept the child up and rocked her.
"Angelica Hamilton." Angel whispered to me.
A baby grabbed onto Hamilton's leg and huddled behind him.
"Alex!" Hamilton cried, "what are you doing out of bed?"
"Laf," the baby giggled.
"I'm going to kill him." Hamilton disappeared into the house, with an army of Hamiltons struggling behind him.
"How many kids do you have?" I asked, scared I would be attack by the army of Hamiltons.
"Just the three." Eliza smiled.
"So far!" Hamilton shouted.
Eliza blushed and yelled back: "Shut up!"
"I still can't believe that's the same man that married you." Angel shook her head in disapproval.
"Me neither," Peggy agreed.
Another woman came out, not looking like any of the Schuyler sisters. She had pale skin and beautiful golden hair. She was in a light muslin gown.
"John?" she asked, and John turned around, features softening.
"May I please present Mrs. Johanna Hope, my cousin in law from London?"
"Hello, Mrs. Hope, I'm Angelica Schuyler," my Angel said, reaching out to clasp Mrs. Laurens' hands.
"Call me Johanna, Miss Schuyler," she responded, returning the handshake.
"If I'm to call you Johanna, you must call me Angelica."
"Very well Angelica. And can I say your sisters are absolutely delightful."
"Which ones?" she laughed lightly. "I have so many!"
Eliza and Peggy shouted "ANGELICA!"
Mrs. Hope laughed with Angel. "May I present my significant other, Mr Aaron Burr?"
"Mrs. Hope," I replied
"Call me Johanna, we are all family! Although I hope you soon become more prominent."
"Of course, Johanna."
"Johanna!" a new voice yelled out of the house.
"My husband, Mr. Anthony Hope," she said as a quick explanation, as she darted off.
"What's her maiden name?" I asked John.
"Uh...Barker, I believe."
