"Hey no fair!" Sky cried out. "No fair what? That I killed you? No that was total called for." I smirked at my little sister. We were playing Minecraft on our Xbox. "You destroyed all the torches and I couldn't see you! " Sky punched me lightly in the arm. I look up as I hear the back door open. I look behind me and see two people walk in. "Hey mom. Whose that?" I ask the pale woman with bright brown eyes. She had dark brown hair and a red cocktail dress. "My boss. I invited him over for dinner. Be kind please. Wouldn't want to lose my job already." Mom shares a smile with the tall, short, black-haired man beside her. He chuckled softly, and the two walked towards the kitchen and continued talking and laughing. "Another round?" Sky asks. "Sure." I smile at her and press the 'play' button. After a few more rounds, I heard mom call. "Max, could you come here please?" Mom calls. "I'll beat you once and for all when you get back." Sky smirks at me. "Fine. Sure you will." I stand and exit the living room and walked down the hallway to the kitchen. I see my mom and her boss sitting at the table, the man with beer and mom with wine. "Do you know when your father gets home?" My mom asks breezily, and that's when I knew she was drunk. "He comes home next week on Friday. He said aunt needed him a bit longer." I say. "Alright. You and Sky get off that thing. It's 9 at night and you guys have been playing literally all day! Go play outside with Tanya, Madison and Rick." Mom complains, sending a wink to the man next to her and I nod and go to tell Sky.

I didn't know what that wink had meant, but I soon would.
