SEVENTEEN

Christian walked into the art studio with Michael and Laiq who were currently discussing about the previous day's art exhibition.

"Are you going to sell any of the art work?" Laiq queried and Christian gave a half shrug.

"Who would want to buy it?"

Michael squeezed his face, "People, Christian I told you your works are nice."

Christian chuckled, "You're telling me that because you're my friend."

Laiq turned to him, "Should we bet on it? If someone buys it, you give me half price."

Michael and Christian laughed in unison.

"You're a thief, half of the price?" Michael chastised and Laiq turned back to Christian.

"Do you agree?"

Christian shook his head, "And if no one buys it, what's your price?"

"Hmm, I'll buy you anything you want."

Christian smirked as he sat down, "Really? What if it's a car I want?"

Laiq scoffed, "Don't be ridiculous."

Michael opened his mouth to talk but Mrs Williams walked in, she was also their Visual Arts teacher. After the normal greetings, she turned to the class.

"So, this is our last lesson for the term, more like a revision, I'll partner you now and you'll draw each other, you have till the end of class," she announced and the class grunted.

Ignoring their grumbles, she went ahead to call out their names alongside their partners.

"I can't believe you were partnered with Christian unlike me, I envy you," Tife said as they all got on their feet.

"He'll draw her well but Mimi will draw him badly," Dera joked and Tife laughed before sitting in front of Alex, she'd been paired with him, of all persons, she had to be paired with him, he was just too quiet for her liking, he was known to be the most quiet person in their class who doesn't really associate with others but then looking at the brighter side, he was good in Visual arts, always after Christian.

Mimi sat down gently in front of Christian who squinted his eyes before talking, "Let's get to work."

Mimi nodded as she picked up her pencil, Christian picked his too and in no time they started work, while Christian kept on glancing at her in order to get the perfect drawing of her, Mimi's eyes were only focused on the drawing book, he wondered how she would draw him without even sparing him a glance.

Forty minutes later, Mrs Williams ordered them to stop then she walked around to check their work.

"This is beautiful and perfect, it looks so much like her," Mrs Williams complimented as she looked from Mimi to Christian's drawing while other students rushed over to check the drawing.

"Now, let's check your own," she moved closer to Mimi and burst into laughter before other students joined in the laughter too, she'd drawn him just like the normal drawing people draw in primary school, not in any way did it look like him.

Mrs Williams recorded their score before dismissing them as the bell was jingled for the end of the day's lesson.

"Gosh, Mimi, you're wicked oo," Tife teased and Mimi smiled as they walked to the car park.

Dera had left the school before the class ended after receiving a call that her mother had regained consciousness.

"My ride is here, see you tomorrow," Tife waved at her and she waved in return before Tife entered the car, immediately, she was out of sight, Mimi sat under the tree waiting for her sister and cousins to arrive likewise their driver.

"Hey," Mimi heard a voice call, one she instantly recognised to be Christian's voice, she looked up at him while wondering if he came to chastise her about drawing him like a kwashiorkor patient.

"Here, have it," he pointed a paper at her and she creased her brows before collecting it from him.

It was the drawing of her, she hadn't seen it in the class, she didn't when a wide smile appeared on her face before she gave him a questioning look.

"There's no reason for me to keep it," he replied succinctly before walking away, she stared at his retreating figure and immediately he disappeared into his car, she resumed admiring the drawing.

"Did I just see you talk to Christian?" Lola questioned as she approached Mimi alongside Lara and Fara.

Mimi nodded before Fara looked at her hand, she moved closer to her and her eyes widened.

"Is that a drawing of you? Did Christian give you that?" She questioned in surprise and Mimi nodded.

"What! He gave you that?" Lara queried in disbelief.

"Guys, they were paired in the visual arts class and our teacher didn't collect the drawing book, he probably believed it was useless keeping her drawing I'm his book that was why he gave it to her," Lola explained and Fara  and Lara nodded.

"I thought as much," Lara commented before their car stopped in front of them.

**************

"You called for me," Christian said as he slumped on the chair in his dad's study.

Jimi looked up from the documents on his table and walked over to his son.

"Yeah, I did."

"So…" Christian drawled.

"Congratulations," Jimi stretched his hand forward and Christian took it but not without a questioning look.

"For what?"

"One of your artwork was purchased during the auction today," Jimi announced with a grin and Christian's eyes widened.

"You don't mean it?" A smile appeared on his face.

"I mean it and it was purchased for half a million, son, you're already earning your own money."

Christian's smile increased to a grin, "I really can't believe this."

"You have to, I just transferred the money to you," Jimi announced and Christian received the sound from his phone, he looked at his phone and realized it was a credit alert, he stared back at his dad with a huge grin.

"Thank you."

Jimi smiled before Lisha walked in, "Of course you have to thank him, you got it from your dad and what of me that's always pushing the both of you?"

"Thank you," they both said in unison before laughing while Christian walked over to his mom for a hug.

"This calls for celebration, should we throw a party during the weekend?" Lisha asked as Christian withdrew from the hug while she went over to hug her husband.

Christian shook his head, "Party? You're just like Christy."

"Of course, she's my daughter, so, party it is right?" She withdrew from Jimi's hug and turned to her son.

"No party, our exams would be starting on Monday so, we can't possibly throw a party."

Lisha squeezed her face while Christian chuckled, they talked more on the matter before he decided to go to his room.

Christian placed a call to friends and informed them about the news while they told him to expect that at his place, they all stayed in the same estate so it wasn't far.

"Christian, you're giving me half of the money oo, don't forget we are twins, I need to buy some things," Christy shouted as she barged into his room with Cherry.

"Don't mind her, she doesn't need anything, don't forget you promised to buy some things for me," Cherry shouted and Christian smiled at the display of his siblings, they left his room when his friend arrived and he couldn't be more grateful for their arrival.

"Based on our agreement, you're giving me half of the money," Laiq said and Christian chuckled.

"Thief, you painted it together abi?" Michael joked and Christian smiled.
