Anyone looking from the other side would think Mimi was listening to Cherry's chatter but her mind was far away, she was only looking at Cherry but her mind wasn't there but rather in some other place.
"We are there," the driver announced and that snapped Mimi out of her trance, she looked around only to realize they were now in the hospital, to her, it looked like they left home just a minute ago when in fact the drive to the hospital was half an hour.
"Come down," Lisha instructed and Mimi did as told, while she joined her mother, Cherry went to her mother too and they all strode into the hospital.
Mimi hated everything about hospital but she had no choice, looking around the hospital, she tried so hard to process its beauty, looks and everything but she couldn't.
"I'll see the doctor first," Lisha announced.
"Okay then," Sindara nodded before Lisha walked away with Cherry.
"Are you okay?" Sindara turned to her daughter.
Mimi forced a smile that was obvious to Sindara as she nodded in response.
"I know there's something wrong, is it the hospital? But you've been somehow down since you got back from school yesterday, did something happen in school?"
Mimi stared at her mother for some seconds before shaking her head.
"I hope everything is fine, if anything is wrong, I'm always here for you oo," Sindara assured and Mimi nodded.
Couple of minutes later, Lisha and Cherry got back.
"She can see the doctor now, let's go," Lisha said before they followed her.
Walking into the big office that was almost the size of Mimi's room, the pretty doctor welcomed them as she offered Mimi a seat in front of her and the others stayed behind.
After questioning Sindara and Mimi for some minutes, she decided Mimi would start seeing a therapist so far her condition could somehow be likened to a psychological problem.
They left the hospital minutes later after agreeing on Mimi's appointment with a therapist.
"You were talking about wanting to work, I'll show you all our workplace and you'll decide on the one that best suits you," Lisha turned to Sindara after instructing the driver on where to drive to.
"Oh okay," she bobbed her head.
Couple of minutes later, they arrived at MAPLE fashion industry and Lisha took pleasure in touring them around.
"This is my workplace, I'm sure you've heard of Maple, my husband is the CEO and I'm a fashion designer here," Lisha explained and Sindara stared in awe.
This time Mimi's mind didn't drift away because she had interest in MAPLE fashion industry, she'd always loved fashion and seeing this somehow soothed her mind.
They left the fashion industry after some minutes and headed to the the textile industry.
"And this is MAPLE textile industry, I run this place most times but we have a manager, we make our textiles but sometimes export them too, main reason we have chalets in my house, it's for our business dealers, when they visit we don't want them staying at an hotel so they stay in the chalet," she explained and Sindara nodded while still admiring the whole place.
They left the textile industry for LISHA'S art gallery.
"And this is my husband's art gallery named after me because I literally pestered him to open an art gallery, his talent can't just go to a waste like that so, this place was conceived by me."
Mimi's eyes scanned the whole area, it was the most beautiful place she'd visited in years, it felt like paradise and the paintings were just heavenly.
They left the art gallery for Maple school and that brought about Mimi's gloomy thoughts as she remembered the unfortunate scene that had unfolded in front of her the previous day.
"So, from everything I've showed you, I don't think there's any where you can work."
Sindara raised her brows while Lisha shrugged.
"You can't possibly work in the school, you only have a school leaving certificate and I can't allow you to work as a cleaner or something, it won't be good for the image of your kids and the art gallery is a no-no for you, my husband is mostly there and I wouldn't want you seducing him."
Sindara squeezed her face before Lisha burst into laughter.
"Jokes, but sincerely there's actually nothing you can do there and for the fashion industry, you know nothing about fashion but I think you can still work at the textile industry though," she concluded as the driver drove into the compound.
Mimi sighed before coming down from the car, it had been a long and tiring day and she had to relax and clear her head, her only option was swimming, it always made her feel relaxed, it was the antidote to her problem.
After escaping from her sister and cousin who had been inquiring about her outing, she went to the swimming pool, she could still remember where it was situated so it wasn't hard to locate.
**************
A thin line appeared on Christian's forehead as he saw the movement in the water. He was practically the only one that frequented the pool, Christy preferred dancing under the shower to swimming and Cherry hated water so, who could possibly be in the water?
He stood at the edge watching the movement in the water, from the body physique, he knew it was a girl and his guess was confirmed when she came out of the water.
"Why are you here?" He questioned as his eyes raked through her flawless body.
Mimi picked up the towel from the chair and made to walk away before he grabbed her hand.
"I don't appreciate people using my thing, this place is mine and I think you know your place in this house which doesn't include the pool," he said and Mimi jerked her hand away from him before walking away.
He stared at her retreating figure with puckered brows till she was out of sight. Not feeling the urge to swim again, he decided to go back to his room and continue his painting.
"Don't tell me that girl came out of this pool?" Christy questioned as she walked up to Christian, she'd met Mimi on her way dripping wet and she didn't bother talking to her.
"She did."
"What!" Christy hollered while Christian attempted to leave.
"They don't know their place in this house at all, most especially that mute one, she thinks so high of herself, this pool needs to be cleaned, you shouldn't use it until it's cleaned."
Christian chuckled, "I know you didn't come here to swim, so, what's up?"
"We are hosting the family dinner tomorrow," she enunciated and Christian shrugged.
"So?"
"You know how much I hate the family gathering and now Mummy said I'll be the one doing the prayer, I wanted you to teach me how to pray, you know I can't possibly go to Cherry, she'll make jest of me."
"And I'll taunt you," he completed before laughing out loudly while Christy glared at him.
"You're also making fun of me, I'll just go to daddy, he'll surely teach me."
He finally stopped laughing, "That's if he's free, he'll surely make jest of you and I'm certain mummy is going to be with him"
Christy slumped on the chair in defeat, "Then what will I do?"
He chortled, "Just Google the prayer lines online and cram them."
She looked up at him with a wide smile, "I think I'll just do that, thanks for the advice," she jumped on her feet while Christian smiled.
"Do you think Mummy will invite those things to the family gathering? They aren't family right? I don't want Tife and others to know they stay at our place, it'll surely go round the school," she turned back to him and his smile reduced.
"The gathering is only for family so, why will mummy invite them over?"
Christy nodded, "True, they aren't family, it isn't possible, I have to go warn them not to come to the main house tomorrow," she smiled before attempting to leave but Christian's voice stopped her.
"But then Mummy is something, she can invite them over, it's something we both know she's capable of doing."
"Goodness," Christy slumped back on the chair in defeat while Christian headed towards his room.
