Chapter 5 - The Plan To Get Jealous
Chapter 5 - The Plan To Get Jealous
ZACH's POV
Why did I even agree for her to be my girlfriend? She was nothing close to my type. She was dull and boring, not to mention, a bookworm geek. Looks-wise, she was passable, but she wasn't extraordinary like Chloe was.
I was lying in the infirmary and staring at the ceiling, contemplating about the things that had happened lately.
Tori.
What was she up to anyway? Yesterday she hated me, and now I was suddenly the love of her life? That girl had some serious issues.
I would treat this as our little game, Victoria Peige. It had been boring lately and I would want to do something fun.
She was right though. I'd never dated her likes before—quiet, bookworm, and geeky. They were boring the hell out of me. How long would these acts keep on going? How long would you last? Could you handle a guy like me?
I chuckled at my own thought. This sound interesting.
The only reason I'd agreed to make her my girlfriend was to get close to Chloe again. I missed her. We haven't spoken to each other since the day she started hating me.
I needed to find a way to make her realize I was the only guy who'd really ever loved her. I'd always been there for her, but she never saw me as anything more than just a friend. We'd been close since we were kids, but just one mistake—and that's if it was a mistake in the first place— was enough to make her throw away everything we'd shared. I'd done it for her, and she didn't even know it. Now, thanks to her smarty-pants friend, I just might have another chance with her.
The only thing I needed to do was break her friend's heart. Then she'd go crying to Chloe, and Chloe would have to talk to me to mend things. Of course, there would be conditions in return. I'd do anything to make Chloe mine. I had no qualms about using Tori to win Chloe back.
And that idiot Nathan was such a sad sap. Why was he so worried about that girl anyway? Did he like her? I smirked. Up until this point, I'd always believed he liked Chloe, but if he was into the nerd, then this is going to be really fun. I'd have Chloe and get revenge on Nathan by having his girl too.
I smiled in satisfaction before I closed my eyes to sleep.

I woke up at half past six and saw a note waiting for me.
'I came here to wake you up but I didn't bother. You look like you were having a good sleep and I didn't want to disturb you so I went home on my own. Take care. – Tori'
I frowned and crumpled up the note in frustration. Didn't I tell her to wait for me? How impatient. I'm disappointed in you, Tori, I thought. I grabbed my phone and scrolled through the contacts list before I realized that I didn't have her number. I had my butler do a search for her number and find out where she lived.
"Boris. There's someone I want you to find. Victoria Peige. You heard me, right? Yes, P-E-I-G-E. Find out where she lives. Tell me as soon as possible. Clear? Good."
Sure enough, Boris came through. I was surprised to find that she didn't live in one of her family's hotels.
Get ready, Peige. I'll give you your first heartbreak tomorrow. It's time for a little experimentation.

The next day, I parked my car outside her Park Avenue home and couldn't help but be impressed.
Definitely fit for the hotel heiress.
I got out, and the bellman let me inside. I made my way to the elevator and pushed the button for the penthouse. After a few seconds, the elevator doors opened, and I moved toward the door in front of it— the only one on the floor. Someone opened it before I could even ring the bell.
"How may I help you, sir?" she asked, batting her eyelashes at me. I smirked at her. "I'm here to pick up Tori."
"Mr. Nathan usually picks up Ms. Tori," the maid said, confusion evident in her tone.
"Look," I said, lowering my voice and leaning closer. I knew the maid might be suspicious of me, so I'd try charming my way in. "I wouldn't have come here if Tori hadn't texted me. She's expecting me. Besides, I wouldn't want her to get mad at you for making me wait here." I maintained eye-to-eye contact and shot her a strategic smile. Gotcha.
"Y-Yes, you may come in, sir. I'll just let her know you're her." She gave me a flirtatious smile. Talk about easy.
I stepped inside and scanned the area. Modern contemporary decor. Not bad.
"Who are you?"
I turned, startled. A woman in a maid's uniform was staring at me with suspicion. "I'm here to pick up Tori. Where is she? Call her now, or we'll be late," I told her in a commanding tone.
"Excuse me, young man. That's not the proper way to talk to someone, especially someone older than you," she retorted, instantly irate.
I frowned. "Who are you, anyway?"
"I'm her nanny." She answered as if it was the most obvious answer in the world.
With her answer, I couldn't help but laugh. "You've got to be kidding me! A nanny, at her age? Tori's freakin' old to have a nanny!"
"If you continue this rude behavior, I'm going to have to ask you to leave. Who are you, anyway?"
"Come on! You don't know me? I'm Zachary Anderson." I answered with a proud tone. "Tori's boyfriend." I finished with a smirk.
"Zach? What are you doing here?" Tori asked, hurrying down the steps toward me. "I'm here to pick you up, honey," I said teasingly.
"What is this young man talking about, Tori?" The old lady asked.
"Nothing, Sonia. I'll explain everything later. We're late. We have to go. Bye!" She grabbed my arm and herded me toward the elevator. "Are you nuts? Why did you come here?" she asked when the doors closed behind us.
"Victoria, I'm your boyfriend, remember?" I reminded her. I made sure that I took emphasis to the word boyfriend in case she had forgotten.
There was a pause before she started to speak. "I'm sorry. But please don't surprise me like that. I haven't told everyone about us...yet."
"Why? Aren't you proud that you're dating me? It's a once in a lifetime opportunity. Very few people can claim that privilege." I looked at her and frowned, letting my annoyance show. "And why did you leave me yesterday? I told you to wait for me, right?"
"I left you a note, right? I told you I didn't want to wake you up and—"
"Well, I never got it. I spent the entire night searching for you. I was worried sick!" I lied.
The look on her face was priceless. "I'm sorry, Zach. I didn't think you'd do that for me." She apologized, and I felt uncomfortable at how sincerely sorry she seemed to be. I handed her my phone to distract myself.
"What's this?"
"That's an iPhone, Tori. Ever heard of it?"
"I know that. But why are you handing it to me?"
"Key in your number." I said.
"Why?"
I could feel my veins popping because of this three-letter word! "For your information, Miss No- Boyfriend-Since-Birth, we should know each other's phone numbers if we're in a relationship. How am I supposed to contact you if I don't have your number? Aren't I your boyfriend? Stop asking nonsense questions, and just hand over your phone," I commanded.
She took it out from her purse and handed it to me.
"Make sure to answer my calls at all time. I don't want you hanging up on me. Understood?"
"Fine," she said with a nod, handing me back my phone when she was done and accepting hers in return.
Good girl. This was really fun.
We stepped out of the elevator and headed out the building to where I'd parked my car. "So, you have a nanny, huh? How old are you again?"
I saw a tinge of pink color on her cheeks. She turned to me. "I'm 18, and Sonia's not my nanny. She's more like my guardian."
I chuckled at her snooty tone and continued walking. I showed her to my car but when she started to open the front passenger door, I stopped her. I smirked inwardly.
It's time for your first heartbreak.
"You won't be sitting in the front seat," I informed her. "I've invited a friend of mine to ride to school with us. Hope you don't mind." I tried to smile but not to look like I was smirking.
"Sure, no problem," she said readily. She opened the back door and climbed in.
I got in and introduced to her my guest. "Tori this is Samantha, my friend." I smiled and waited for the ranting to begin. In three... two...
"Hi. Nice to meet you," Tori said politely. It gave me a pause. Usually girls started asking me questions and freaking at this point, but all she did was smile. Did she know what my agenda was? Or was she really being true to her words and being understanding?I started to drive, glancing at Tori in the rearview mirror from time to time. She was fiddling with her iPad and not doing much of anything else.
"Hey, Zach, are you going to Lizzy's later? Her parties are always epic. You game?" Samantha was all up in my space, fiddling with my hair. She sure knew how to flirt. I give her that.
But much to my dismay, still no reaction from Tori. She wasn't even looking at us. Was she deaf or something? "I don't know. I'd have to ask my girlfriend. Tori, you heard what Samantha said?"
"I'm sorry. What was that?"
Damn it, was she really not listening or was she just pretending not to? I couldn't read her.
"Never mind." I turned to Samantha. "Fine, I'll go." Samantha shrieked in excitement and kissed me on the cheeks. I was pretty sure Tori saw that one. I looked in the mirror. She was looking at me and... beaming? What?
A smile was not what I'd been expecting!
Was she really in love with me? She sure wasn't acting like it. She didn't even care that a girl just kissed me! This wasn't fun at all! It was me who got frustrated, not the other way around.
When we got to school, I parked the car, and Samantha moved to cling to my arm.
"Hey, Zach. I have to go now. I might be late for class. Thanks for the ride and nice to meet you Samantha." She was very sincere with a smile on her face. It wasn't forced or fake just like my exes, hers was genuine. I watched her go with a frown. Usually when I pulled stunts like this, my girlfriends would go bananas! Tori, however, seemed unaffected.
"So, wanna do something fun before going to class?" Samantha asked, moving so her breasts touched my arm. I shook her off. I wasn't in the mood. I was annoyed.
"No," I said. "Just leave, Samantha."
"You worried your girlfriend might find out? Don't. She's odd, obedient, and the quiet type. Nice catch there. She won't know. Let's just do it, okay?" She started kissing my neck and ears, but I shook her off.
"Stop it, Samantha! I said leave, okay?" I said, pissed.
"Fine! No need to shout." She got out of the car, slamming the door as she left. I watched her walk away, annoyed.
But I was still bothered by Tori's reaction, not to mention the smile she'd given me when she'd thanked me for the ride and the one she'd shot Samantha before she left. Were they real or fake? Was she hiding her hurt behind her smile?
What kind of girl are you, Victoria Peige?
