Nick
Drew and I made the lengthy journey down to the South Pole. The trek took a few hours, maybe 2. (Don't ask me why they didn't use magic to transport) The wind was heavier than any gust I had felt in the North Pole. And the snow? Icier. I could see why Jack enjoyed himself here. The frigid environment was void of warmth. It was fitting.
Drew and I reached the doors of the tall crystal palace. We would have to storm in by surprise if we were to save Wynter. I turned to Drew; both of us exchanged understanding glances before bursting through the doors.
"Jack Frost!" I yelled, my voice echoed through the foyer. It was a cheaply decorated palace. Pictures of dignitaries and what I assumed to be his family painted the walls. I didn't care to take in the details as my mind was focused on Wynter.
"COME OUT JACK!"
I heard the uneventful sounds of footsteps coming down the main set of stairs. "Nick! How rude of you to barge in!" He walked down the steps with a certain air of confidence. "And you brought your brother too?" His eyes darted to Drew.
"Stop stalling. Where is she?" I cut to the chase. Jack was a man of many words and would prolong a conversation until he decided he was finished.
"You know Nick? I never took you for the type to like humans."
I didn't accept his statement. Instead, I chose to deny it. No one was supposed to know about Wynter's true origins.
"What are you talking about"
"Your beloved fiancé? Last time I checked, a human in the North Pole.... let's just say the council would be furious knowing a non magical entity is marrying into the Claus line." He pulled out her phone and lit up her screen. "Nubia cosmetics. A cozy house in northern San Francisco. Wynter Rider is a very accomplished gal"
Drew looked at me before turning his attention towards the stairs. Jack was stalling again. I didn't have time it.
"Wynter! Wynter."
"Calling her name is futile. She only responds to me now" He smirks, pushing her phone into his pocket. "Oh Wynter? Come In here" He snaps. Immediately she came down the stairs and walked over to Jack, ignoring Drew and I.
"Wynter?" I whispered but Jack was right. Calling her name was futile. She was under his spell.
"What did you do to her" Although Wynter looked beautiful, her body looked pale and her eyes were void of warmth.
"I didn't do anything. She came to her senses once I told her the true history of the North and South Pole and how your family stole the magician title from our hands"
Wynter smirked looking up into Jack's eyes as he spoke but even as she stood there silently listening, there was something different about her. I couldn't quite place it.
There was an eerie glow in her eyes.
"Wynter... I don't know what spell Jack has put on you....but"
"—Spell?" she giggled, interrupting me, "There is no spell! Jack saved me from the lake before I died.
He loves me and didn't call me heartless unlike some people" she smirked. "When Jack puts in his bid for Santa Claus, I will be by his side.
Proud to be Mrs. Frost to a ruler so valiant." Jack pulled her jaw towards his, kissing her violently.
Seeing their passionate display of affection enraged me. I knew she was under the effects of Jack's spell but I still had a right to feel some type of war. I had feelings for her and seeing her with another man, Jack of all people, filled me with rage.
Drew couldn't help but burst into a fit of giggles, breaking their passionate embrace. "Nah!
Where's the magic potion?" Drew looked around the room, trying decipher the hiding place for the antidote. "You drugged her!"
"I didn't!" Jack bragged, offended that we would accuse of him of such a outlandish action.
I meet Wynter's gaze from across the room and make my way across the room to her. Maybe our proximity would snap her into reality.
"Wynter" I reach out to touch her.
"Nah ah ah! No touchie!" Jack zaps, holding up his palm and pushing me away with magic.
She watched me as I struggled to stand. "Jackkkkk! Make them go away!" She pouted, throwing her arms around his torso.
"Guards?" Jack announces. A few men come and surround us.
"Jack..you won't get away with this! I swear!" The guards grab me by the shoulders and lift me out the room.
"By Santa! Ooops! I mean Nick.
Soon, that will be my title." He smirked before pulling Wynter in his arms.
