Wynter

Drew zipped through the streets, turning and speeding away as I directed him to the address of the business center. After a few minutes, we came and parked near the offices.

"Okay stay here. I'll be quick." I say, unbuckling my seatbelt. He shifted his gear to park and looked over to the tall building curiously. "Maybe I should go with you?"

"No Drew! If you come, you might be distracted."

"I won't! I'll be on my best behavior! Come on. I wanna see what CEO Wynter does"

"Okay fine" I grumbled, peering around his car to find a disguise for him . I see a baseball hat on his back seat and forced it onto his head.

"Why do I need a disguise?" He grumbled adjusting the strap on the back.

"Cause! Nick might recognize you and if he sees you then he will know I'm close by" I explained thoroughly so he could understand.

"I still don't get—"

"Drew come on! Do you want sushi or not"

"Fine...but it better taste good"

"It will. I promise" I shrugged, stepping out the car. He follows close behind, locking his car twice. I walked in through the revolving doors, dropping my head low just in case Nick or anyone else were to recognize me.

——

Drew and I hid in be back of the business center as we toted our disguises.

"Remember, no one is supposed to see me. We go in, then out, then sushi" I whispered, peaking around the corner of the long hallway. A few people I didn't recognize passed through the bustling area, pacing to their destinations.

"Liz!" I whispered to myself, smiling as I saw her walking towards the elevators. She looked panicked as ever talking on the phone with someone.

"Liz?"Drew repeated again. I nodded and faced him.

"Yes. She's my secretary, personal assistant, best friend, everything !"

He smiled, looking up again to watch her. I squinted suspiciously seeing the small light that flamed in his eyes.

"She...doesn't look like an assistant?"

"Hmm..." I whispered, wanting him to clarify his statement but before I could ask him to explain, I see Liz pacing into a packed elevator.

"We need to follow her. Quick!" I announced, pulling Drew's wrist to drag him along. We follow her from a distance, coming into the packed lift at the last minute. We needed to catch her by suprise, just until we could reach the offices to sign the checks.

——

AN: They signed the papers.
Drew flirted childishly with Liz. Elizabeth wondered how Wynter was here when she was supposed to be at the Forbes retreat. Wynter introduced Drew as her bodyguard so Liz wouldn't get suspicious.
Sorry I didn't feel like writing it!)

Nick

"Yes Mitch. I got it" I tell him annoyed at his pestering demands. He still hadn't drawn up the sketches for the expansions of the warehouse in the North Pole. I guess I was more agitated than normal thinking about all that I had to do. I needed the permits for the expansions plus I still hadn't taught Wynter the laws of the land.
The banquet was only a week away.

"Mitch...I'm going in the elevator. I will talk to you later" I inform him before clicking the elevator door closed.

I pull up my phone's contacts once again, opening my messages to text Wynter but before I could click send, the elevator doors open and a flood of people rush in.

The loud ringing of the bell sounded as we pass each floor. I am distracted with the people, packed elevator so I made sure I stood in the corner of the cramped space.

"I can't believe it we did it!"

I heard Wynter's distinctive voice amongst the scattered conversations in the elevator but didn't believe my ears.
No... it couldn't be her.
Wynter was safe and sound at the North Pole with Drew. She had no business coming here.

"Do you think he will find out?" The distinctive voice whispers again. I snap my fingers to amplify the conversation and hear the conversation.

"No he won't. Nick is too busy with work to find out" Drew chuckled haughtily.

I quickly edited my text and clicked send. However she replied to it would prove her innocence or guilt.

She giggled again at something Drew said before looking down at her phone. "Oh no, Nick texted me. He asked where I am."

"Just say in your room." Drew coached her.

"What if he's at the North Pole right now and wants to check up on me?"

"Then ignore him. He won't find out if you don't answer" Drew shrugged. The doors of the lift open up and the people flood out.

I couldn't help but laugh as I see Wynter's disguise. A floppy hat and black sunglasses? Then she paired it with one of those khaki spy trench-coats?

She was so obviously dressed it actually made her stick out like a sore thumb.

My anger was through the roof for the both of them. Instead of heading to my next meeting, I would have to cancel and follow them.

Wynter

"What do you think you're doing?" I hear Nick's voice from the side of our little booth. My eyes refused to meet his. Instead, I focused on my small plate and shifted the contents around.

Drew tossed a piece of sushi into his mouth as I smiled at him. Nick continued standing over our small booth as we carried on.

Drew finally broke the silence and looked over. "It was lunch and I decided we needed a break from the books."

"All the way in San Francisco?"

Silence filled our booth again.
"You should try the Wasabi Drew! It's so spicy"I bragged, making sure to ignore Nick but I should have known better.
Nick invites himself to sit, forcing me against the wall of the small booth.

"Hey! You weren't invited to sit." I fumed.

Drew pointed a chopstick to his brothers face, playfully annoying him before Nick snatches it away.

"What is this?" He looked at the large pile of fish, wrinkling his nose in disgust.

"Sushi" I smiled pushing one against his lips so he could taste but he didn't even budge. "Come on Nick! Taste one it's delicious" I bragged, mocking his lack of interest.

Nick called for the waiter instead, impatient to end our shenanigans. "I told you to stay at the Pole." He says coldly.

"I don't know why you care. You've been busy for the past week. You wouldn't have even noticed I was gone."

"That's not fair Wynter—- my work—-" but before he could finish the waiter came and pushed the check into his hand.

"Thanks for treating us Nick." I grumbled sarcastically, finishing my last California roll. He rolled his eyes stepping away to pay.

"He is so ...ughh" I groaned, taking off my hat and sunglasses. There was no use in trying to hide. Nick already saw us so who else was I hiding from.

Drew stuffed his mouth full with the last 7 rolls before standing up to find the bathroom. I followed him, turning to the women's bathroom to freshen up.

I walked out, looking around the packed restaurant for Drew. He was nowhere to be seen so I walked outside, assuming I would meet him there.

I fumed as I saw Nick outside the glass doors. He was waiting for me but I wanted nothing to do with him... not now.

Drew steps out the restaurant and waves to me. I quickly walk over to Drew but Nick intercepted me, grabbing me around waistline.

"Na ah ah. You're riding back with me"

"No thanks!" I spun around and walked towards Drew. "I'm coming!" I yelled over Nick's shoulder.

"Drew?" Nick said, giving him a stern look. Drew frowned and looked at me, shrugging. "Sorry Wynter" he explained, entering his car and speeding away.

Nick and I were silent as we stared daggers at one another.

He opened his car door, impatiently waiting to let me in and we drove in silence, the only sounds coming from his engine as he sped away.

"Wynter I asked you to stay at the Pole. You don't think I have a reason!"

"If you can travel to and back to earth then so can I! I'm not some little child who needs parental guidance"

He pulled over and parked the car near a busy center. "Look Wynter!" He fumed looking over at me. "I people have been watching you."

"What."

"I didn't want to make you paranoid but... the guardians don't trust me and are not in support of my decision with my choice of a spouse. They have spies watching your every move whether it be here or the Notth Pole"

I didn't know what to say and looked away. "Why didn't you tell me sooner?"

"I didn't want you to be paranoid. They can't find out you're a human."

Nick

"Why?" She asked, looking into my eyes. Her brown eyes glimmered against the beams of the sun. "What's so embarrassing about having a human as your pretend wife?"

"Wynter... I'm not embarrassed" I tell her truthfully. Wynter was everything I wanted in a girlfriend, maybe even a wife? But we could never be... she couldn't know the reason... not yet. I don't think I would ever tell her.

Wynter

I was kinda upset at how assertive he was being but at the same time...turned on? I couldn't place my feelings for Nick. I lost count on how many we had kissed. But just because we kissed, didn't mean we liked each other??

I chuckled to myself as I went over the details in my mind. Even thinking about our kisses made me realize my feelings for him. But I couldn't let him know that. What if he didn't like me?

We drove on in silence; I made sure I typed on my phone until we arrived at the Pole.

He parked and unlocked the door, standing and slamming it closed. I knew he was mad at me for sneaking away but he was beyond peeved?
Why? Just because I snuck out? There was something more to it.

"Hey. Santa!" I stood, closing the door on my side. "Is there something I did? Because lately you've been more irritated then usual"

He stopped in his tracks, turning to look into my face. The wet sounds of snow crushed beneath his leather shoes after each step he took.

He met my body that was now pressed against his car before pushing me against the car doors. I hated how warm he felt against my body.

"Why didn't you think to tell me about Jack Frost?" he accused, trapping me against the car door. Of course I was silent. I didn't think he would find out.

"Kringles told me" he said, answering the question in my mind.

"Of course she did" I grumbled, crossing my arms.

"She told me you two were under the mistletoe?"

"Hmm we were. But who actually allowed him in? No me"

He fumed, hearing me dismiss the seriousness of  the situation but let out a lazy breath. "Look Wynter. Can we just agree...to get along until the end of the week? The banquet is in 7 days. We need to at least pretend to be in love in front of the council and guardians; after that I won't bother you again. Deal?"

"Deal." I muttered, looking away from his eyes and into the distance. He continued staring into my eyes, observing my features. Before he could open his mouth to speak, a small group of people came over.

"Mr. and future Mrs. Claus! I have the party chefs and cake decorators ready for you!"

Nick turned to face his mother, gently pushing away from me.

"Mom...the wedding is in December. Don't you think it's a little too early for this?" Hé groans.

His mother shook her head defiantly and pulled me into her warmth. "No it's not! I know princess Wynter has been dying to taste some yummy food! I know you two didn't ask for this but I'm just so excited! My son is getting married"

I looked over at Nick, still angered by his words but he only looked away and shrugged.

"Let's go" I say, putting on my fakest smile before heading back to the palace with his mother amongst the small crowd of people.
