How did [L/N] [Y/N] end up in this position? In a barrel going through the ocean? While snuggled up to her best friend? Oh right. Monkey D Luffy had taken her with him aboard his quest to be the King of the Pirates. She didn’t know what she wanted as of yet. But what she did know was that she wasn’t going to leave her best friend alone to go on this dangerous quest. And hopefully while she’s on this expedition, she’ll find out exactly what she wanted to do.

What her dream was.  The girl had fallen asleep along with the raven haired goofball. When Luffy did wake up, he practically exploded the barrel, punching someone in the face in the process. The [H/C] haired female looked up at Luffy with a half-asleep expression on her face. 

“I… SLEEEPPPT SOOOO GREEEAAAT!” Luffy cheered. 

“Lu, it’s too early in the morning for your shenanigans."

"What is she talking about? It's way past noon!" one of the pirates questioned the other.

"*Yawn*. Can you get out of the barrel so I could stretch my limbs?” [Y/N] asked alerting the pirates to her presence. 

“Oh right. Shishishishi.” Luffy climbed out of the barrel and helped the girl. 

“Thanks, Lu.” she replied. 

“No problem, [N/N].” the boy replied before looking down at the man he had punched. “Who’s that?” he turned to the two pirates in front of him. “Who the hell are you guys?”

“WHO THE HELL ARE YOU?!” the two pirates shouted at him, with looks of shock and bewilderment on their faces. 

“Your friend will catch a cold sleeping like that.” Luffy said. 

“I think you’re the one that knocked him out, Luffy.” explained [Y/N] as Luffy tried to move him, but a blade was put out in front of the duo. 

“Hold on. Are you messing with us or something,” one of them said, “when You know good and well we’re vicious pirates?” 

[Y/N] sighed. “You should not have said that.” 

“I’m starving. You got any food?” Luffy asked a small boy with pink hair and glasses. 

“Or not I guess.” the girl shrugged as she gripped onto the boy’s arm. 

“LISTEN WHEN PEOPLE ARE TALKING TO YOU!” the pirate shouted at the two teens. 

“You damn kid!” the other pirate said, as the two tried to slash at them with their swords. The pink haired kid screamed. “DIE!” 

[Y/N] jumped up and spun around in the air and kicked the swords out of their hands sending the swords to the ceiling. While the swords did that, the female did it again, bending the swords with the force of her powerful kick. 

“Thanks, [N/N].” Luffy said as the girl found her spot back next to Luffy. The two pirates looked at them in fear. “What is wrong with you two?” 

“I don’t know, Lu. Take a guess. Any guess.” [Y/N] told him. Luffy sent his best friend a look. He clearly did not understand what was going on. 

“W-Who are you two?!” 

“Me? Oh. My name is Monkey D Luffy. And this is [L/N] [Y/N]. Hi.” the two pirates ran screaming out of the room after that. 

“So… what just happened?” the pink haired boy asked the duo. 

“You got me.” Luffy replied. 

“I think they were intimidated by us, Lu.” [Y/N] said as she leaned onto Luffy’s shoulder. 

Are they a thing? The pink haired boy thought to himself as he watched their interaction. Pink hair shook his head, the thought leaving his mind.  “Quick, you gotta run! If those guys come back here with their buddies, then they’ll kill you on the spot!” 

“I don’t care about that.” Luffy told the kid with a big smile on his face. “But I have [Y/N] here to help me when that happens. I’m hungry.” 

“How can you blow this off like that? There are hundreds of them on deck, and they’re waiting for the opportunity to kill anything.” the kid grabbed the non-occupied arm of Luffy. 

Luffy didn’t care in the slightest and dragged the kid as the two teens walked out of the cabin room. The three of them made it to a supply cabin where lot’s of food was being kept. “It’s a gold mine!” Luffy started chanting food over and over again. 

“Don’t eat everything, Lu, okay?’ [Y/N] sat down on the floor and started to massage her feet. Why did I walk around without shoes again? 

“Who knows? Maybe we’ll be safe in here.” pink hair said as he closed the door. “As long as no one else gets hungry. Hey, my name is Koby. You’re Luffy-san and [Y/N]-san, right? That was pretty neat what you did to get out of that barrel back there. 

“So, are we on a pirate ship or what?” asked Luffy as he handed an apple over to [Y/N]. 

“No, it’s a passenger ship that’s being raided by pirates. Pirates under the command of Alvida-sama.” Koby explained as [Y/N] took a bite of the apple. 

“Who cares anyway?” asked Luffy as he continued to eat. 

[Y/N] swallowed her bite of the apple. “Then why did you ask?” 

“What I want to know is if they’re any boats onboard.” Luffy explained. 

“I think there are a few.” Koby explained. 

“Great. Because mine got swallowed by some big whirlpool.” Luffy explained. 

“Which wouldn’t have happened if you had listened to me in the first place.” the girl told him. 

“Oh come on, [Y/N]. You know I’m not a good steerer. That’s what I have you for.” Luffy told her. 

“No, you just have me so you can use my brain to get out of unwanted situations.” she said. 

“And your feet. Gotta have that superpower where I can’t even see danger coming.” 

“You attract danger, Lu. I think that’s what the D in your name stands for.” 

Koby watched the two kind of bicker between the two of them. “Are you two a thing?” The two teens looked at the pink-haired kid and blinked at him. “I mean you bicker like an old married couple, she’s always clinging onto your arm, and you’ve been teasing her this entire time.” 

“We’re not a thing, Koby. We’ve been friends for over a decade. It’s just how our platonic dynamic works.” [Y/N] explained. 

Luffy whispered in her ear, “What does he mean by thing?” 

“I’ll explain it to you later, Lu.” the girl whispered back. “Go and finish eating, okay? So, Koby, are you one of the pirates or one of the passengers?” 

Koby looked down to the ground, a look of shame crossing over his young features. “It was on a fateful day long ago. That day I stepped out on a small fishing boat on the outskirts of town to catch my dinner, but it turned out that particular boat was actually headed for a pirate ship. That was two years ago. In exchange for letting me live, I’m forced to live the life of a cabin boy.” 

“You’re pretty stupid, you know that.” Luffy said to which [Y/N] kicked him in the head which sent the boy flying. “HEY! WHAT WAS THAT FOR, [N/N]?!” he trudged back to his spot between Koby and [Y/N]. The girl didn’t answer him and instead went back to massaging her feet. 

“Gee thanks for your honesty.” Koby looked down on the ground, a deeper look of shame on his face. 

“If you hate it, then leave.” Luffy told him. 

“Are you kidding? I can’t leave! No way! Nuh-uh! Not a chance!” Koby told him. 

“Of course, you can leave, Koby. The only thing stopping you from leaving is yourself. And a boat. Unless you’re planning to swim or tour the ocean with the fish.” [Y/N] replied. 

“Just the thought of Alvida-sama finding me, scares me so bad I wanna throw up.” Koby declined. 

Luffy laughed at him. “You’re a moron and a coward! I hate people like you!” This time [Y/N] slammed her fist down on top of the boy’s head upon his words. Monkey D Luffy, the man who will become the pirate king. More like Monkey D Luffy, the man without a filter. 

“Yeah, you’re right. If I have the courage, I could drift alone in a barrel. I could be rid of these pirates. Pursue my own dreams. Some day I’ll like to live out all of them. So, what about you two? What was it that got you to set sail on these seas?” Koby explained. Oh boy. You asked him the big question. 

“Well, I’m going to be King of the Pirates! And [Y/N]’s going to be my queen someday!” Koby gawked at the straw hat wearing boy. 

The comment made the girl blush. Of course, Luffy didn’t actually know what that entails. He’s just always said it without a second thought to give her a reason to come along with him on this journey. 

“K-k-k-king a-a-a-and Q-q-q-queen of the Pirates?!” Koby asked. “Are you serious?” They really aren't a thing?

“Yep.” Luffy popped the p. 

“But that would mean you’re pirates too?” 

“Yep.” [Y/N] nodded her head. 

“Your crew?” 

“Don’t have one. Except for [Y/N]. She’s my first mate. I’m looking for the others.” Luffy explained before waving his hand in front of Koby’s gawking expression. 

Koby stood up. “King of the Pirates is a title given to the one who obtains everything this world has to offer. You’re talking about seeking the great treasure of wealth, fame, and power. The treasure you seek is the One Piece.” 

“You know I thought Luffy would have made a dramatic spectacle of becoming the Pirate King rather than speaking nonchalantly about it. But I guess when you say so many times in the past ten years, the nonchalant thing comes with it.” [Y/N] commented as she tossed her apple core somewhere behind her. 

“Pirates all over the world are looking for that treasure!” Koby told him. 

“Yeah, so?” asked Luffy. 

“No way! It’s impossible! Impossible! Impossible! There’s no way someone like you could ever reach the gold in this age of pirates! There’s just too many out there that are meaner and badder.” Luffy whacked him on top of the head. 

“I wouldn’t count Luffy out just yet. He may look like an idiot, but he has more tenacity that you could fathom. It’s that dreamer in him that wills him to do whatever he wants. And for as long as I’ve known him, once he gets an idea, it sticks with him until he’s accomplished that. This is no different. He may not possess the ability to become it now, but he will one day. And it’s just because he wants to be the pirate king. It may seem outlandish and crazy, but if anyone has the guts and skill to become the pirate king, then it’s Luffy. Because he never quits. And he never gives up. Unless it’s death. It’s one of the things I admire about my best friend, you know? Besides he has one of those personalities.” [Y/N] told Koby as he rubbed the lump on his head. 

A young little girl with medium length [H/C] hair sat underneath an oak tree, tears staining her face as she continued to cry. A young black haired boy wearing a white shirt with a blue anchor on it was walking by when he noticed the girl.

"What's wrong? Why are you crying?" he asked.

The girl looked up at the boy. "I don't have any friends. I'm lonely."

"I'm Luffy! I'll be you're friend." the boy told her with an outstretched hand.

The girl looked at the hand in front of her. "Why would you want to be my friend?"

"Just because." he gave her a big earnest grin.

"Okay. You'll be my friend and I'll be yours. I'm [Y/N] by the way. [L/N] [Y/N]." the girl told him.

"Monkey D Luffy!" the boy cheered.

“What about you? What do you want?” asked Koby. 

“No clue. I hoped that by traveling with my best friend to fulfill his dream, I would discover what my dream is. I don’t know what I want. Most people know what they want to do at a young age, but not me. I’m not one of those people. I’m just still discover who and what I want to be.” [Y/N] explained. 

“Alright! Now, that my belly’s full, I’m gonna get me a boat. You coming, [Y/N]?” [Y/N] rose to her feet and followed after him at the sound of him calling her name. “Hopefully, they’ll just give me one if I ask nicely. What do you think, [Y/N]?” 

“I don’t know if they would.” [Y/N] admitted. 

“Do you think I could ever join the marines?” asked Koby. 

“Well, if it’s what you want to do, then I say you should do it. It’s like that old saying go. It’s not about the destination. It’s about how you get there.” [Y/N] told him. 

“Marines?” asked Luffy. 

“Yes!” Koby stood up. “Catching bad guys is the only thing I’ve ever wanted to do! It’s been my dream since I was a child. Do you think I can do it?” 

“How should I know that?” asked Luffy. 

“Then, I’m gonna do it! I’m not gonna get stuck as a cabin boy for the rest of my life! I’ll break out and catch Alvida-sama myself.” Then, the ceiling caved in and Koby rushed out of the way of the falling debris. 

“Koby!” [Y/N] shouted. 

“Who is that you plan on catching, Koby?” a lady said from within the dust cloud. “You actually think this twig is gonna help you? Well? Answer me!” 

People are on the other side of the door. With swords. The girl moved to stand even closer to her friend so when the swords pierced the walls, they would not pierce her. 

“My guess is you’re not Zoro, the pirate hunter.” the woman, Alvida, said. 

“Zoro?” asked Luffy. 

“Koby!” the sound of his name leaving her lips made the pink-haired boy scream. 

“Who is the most beautiful of all on these seas?!” asked Alvida. 

“Well, I-uh um, give me a sec. I know this.” Koby said. 

“Hey, Koby. Who is this fat lady?” [Y/N] facepalmed at Luffy’s blunt question. Obviously, this is Alvida, you idiot. 

The lady grew tick marks all over her face as the rest of the crew panicked. I’m sure Luffy could take this lady down without a moment’s hesitation. 

“YOU RUNT!” Alvida went to slash at Luffy. 

The two teens jumped away from her and landed over by Koby. “Let’s go!” Koby looked up at the two of them, the pair grinning big teethy smiles at them. [Y/N] grabbed onto Luffy’s arm and held onto Koby’s wrist. And the three of them jumped out of the food supply room. Luffy landed on the deck with a hand on his signature straw hat. He smirked deviously at the pirates. The other pirates charged at them.

And the duo dodged their advances with [Y/N] kicking them with her powerful legs and Luffy literally using his head against them. [Y/N] stopped and looked over at Luffy to see him showing off his currently non-existent muscles . Koby looked in awe at him while [Y/N[ looked up to see someone jumping down from some railing and trying to slash at him. 

Luffy moved out of the way. “It’s not fair to attack from behind!” And with that, Luffy threw him at the others, creating a bowling effect. 

“It’s even more not fair to gang up on a guy!” Luffy exclaimed, running away from them. “[Y/N]! HELP ME!” 

The girl shrugged. “It’s your fault we landed in this mess. If it wasn’t for you steering into that whirlpool, this wouldn’t be happening.” 

“You’re still upset about that?! Help your captain and if not that help your best friend!” Luffy shouted at her. 

“Okay, fine. I understand.” [Y/N] held her head in her hand. “What am I going to do with you?” 

But she didn’t have to do anything, because his hand stuck to a mast and his arm stretched out. Making the pirates and Koby stare at it, gawking at it. You did it again, idiot. And the boy slingshot himself back screaming, “Gum Gum Rocket!” and whiped out the pirates. 

“Luffy-san, what are you?” asked Koby as [Y/N] hopped over to him. 

“Me?” he stretched out one of his cheeks. “I’m a rubberman!” 

“So, you’re made of rubber?” Koby turned to [Y/N]. “What… about you?” 

“Normal person, but trained by the former captain of the musketeers royals division of a foreign county. I only have heightened sense, enhanced physical stats, see through my feet, and strong powerful kicks that can break through ten pounds of steel. If I want them to.” [Y/N] explained before Koby rushed to hide behind the duo. 

“So, you've eaten one of the devil’s fruits?” Alvida said. 

“Yeah, the Gomu Gomu no Mi.” Luffy explained. 

“Ah ha. I’d heard rumors they existed, but I have never seen any evidence of it before today.” Alvida told him. “You’re more skilled than the average deck swabber. Are you a bounty hunter?” 

“I’m a pirate!” Luffy told her. 

“A pirate?! Ha! Just the two of you?! On these waters?” Alvida laughed at that. 

“Today, it’s just the two of us. I’ll find my crew tomorrow or next week or so. I need, I don’t know. Ten guys.” Luffy told her. 

“Tell me. We’re both pirates and we’re not under the same flag? Then that makes us enemies? Am I right?” Alvida asked him. 

“I think that’s how it works, lady.” [Y/N] told her. 

“[Y/N]-san! Luffy-san! Let’s go!” Koby urged the two of them. 

“Why?” asked Luffy. 

“You saw how powerful her club is!” Koby told them. 

“Yeah, but [Y/N]’s kicks are as equally strong if not stronger.” Luffy explained. 

“And of all the villainous cheats, she’s easily the most-.” Koby stopped talking. And it’s just because he wants to be the pirate king. It may seem outlandish and crazy, but if anyone has the guts and skill to become the pirate king, then it’s Luffy. Because he never quits. And he never gives up. Unless it’s death. 

“Go on. I’m the most what?!” Alvida asked him. 

“YOU’RE THE MOST UGLIEST THING ON THE SEA!” Koby shouted at her, making the [H/C] haired female smirk at the statement. 

The other pirates gawked at his boldness while her aura grew dark and intimidating. That statement had made her angry. They could all see it. And Koby waited for her wrath to come. Luffy laughed at that. 

“What did you say?” asked Alvida. 

“I don’t mean to be a sarcastic twat. Okay, maybe I do, but he’s never been more right.” [Y/N] nodded her head at her comment. 

“I’m leaving and I’m gonna join the marines! And then, I’m gonna spend the rest of my life by beating up dirty pirates like you!” Koby told her. 

“Do you have any clue what you’re saying to me right now?” asked Alvida. 

“Of course I do! I’m gonna do what I want. And no one’s going to stop me!” Koby shouted at her. “I’m gonna join the marines! I’m gonna join them and I’m going to catch your lousy ass first!” 

“You damn pipsqueak!” Alvida whipped her club in the air before charging it down. 

“Well said.” Luffy stood in front of Koby and took the club to the head. Luffy smirked. “That won’t work!” stupid Luffy sing-song voice of yours. 

“What?!” 

“I’m rubber!” Luffy punched her away. “Gum Gum,” he outstretched his arm all the way out into the sea before shooting it back, “Pistol!” 

“And there goes Alvida!” [Y/N] smiled. “Now let’s get out of here, you two dobes.” 

Luffy nodded his head. “Hey you!” the pirates stood up straighter to the rubberman. “Go find a boat and give it to Koby. He’s leaving your ship to join the marines. Not gonna stop him.” 

“Thanks, Luffy-san, [Y/N]-san.” Koby told him as the other pirates got a boat for him. And there goes the cannon fire from the marine ship. “Look, it’s the marines!” 

“Oh, perfect timing! Head over there and tell them you want to join!” Luffy told him. 

[Y/N] smacked him on the head with her fist. “HE CAN’T DO THAT YOU IDIOT! PIRATES CAN’T BECOME MARINES!” 

Luffy hopped into a boat and sent it to the water. [Y/N] followed soon after that with Koby in tow. And with that, they started their sail away from the marines. “Phew. We actually managed to get away.”

“Whew. That was fun! Shishishishi!” Luffy said with a big smile on his face. 

“Umm, Luffy-san, if you’re searching for the elusive One Piece, that means you have to be headed for the Grand Line, right?” Koby asked to which the duo nodded their heads. “You know the people I’ve talked to call that place the pirate graveyard.” 

“Right. That’s why I need a strong crew. Of course, I have [Y/N], but she’s not tough enough as of yet.” Luffy told him. 

“We still need a ship, dumbass.” [Y/N[ reminded him. “We can’t sail through the Grand Line in this river cruiser.” 

“Right. Right. You guys mentioned some pirate hunter? What’s he like?” asked Luffy, changing the topic as fluidly as Luffy does. 

“Oh, you mean, Zoro? Last I heard he’s being held prisoner at a marine base.” Koby explained. 

“Oh well, weakling huh?” asked Luffy. 

“No you’re so wrong! He’s as violent as a demon! And three times as horrifying!” Koby defended the pirate hunter. 

“Sounds like a wonderful addition to our crew. Don’t you think so, captain?” [Y/N] turned towards her best friend who wore a demonic smile on his face. 

“You bet he does. Shishishishi!” Luffy replied.

“YOU TWO ARE CRAZY?!” Koby screamed at them. 

“You bet we are!” [Y/N] replied. 

“Nothing phases these two.” Koby muttered.
