Sleeper
The Sleeper walks into the Midnight air
Taking a deep cleansing breath
Stars twinkling up above
Thundering tides sweeping the sandy beach
A first step
Sinks into the sand
With the next
A soft sigh escapes
With the playful wind
Hair ruffles
Clothing billows
Teasing the waters with a gentle tugging
The black waters
Bathing the sands
Pulling back
Then rushing forward to wash anew
Footsteps disappearing into the water
Greedy hands of liquid reaching forth
Drenching the Sleeper in cold
Making clothing heavy and cumbersome
Walking into the sea
The water swallowing all
Freezing cold
Biting like a thousand tiny needles
Disappearing below the dark waters
The wind blows against the sea
No one will ever know
That the Sleeper was Me
