Gone

A dark belt whistles through the air
A whimpering figure cowers at your feet
Eyes shut, gathering tears of despair
Pain and skin, sickening thud as they meet
(I'm sorry, daddy
I didn't mean to
It was one candy
Mom gave me like you do)
You took the first sip, you were not encouraged
Lost control, your mind is too far gone
Anger and hatred, a bitter war raged
Against unknown enemies and your own son
(Daddy, please stop
It hurts so bad
What did I do
To make you so mad?)
You find her in the corner, away from your sight
You've always loved her, how dare she hide?
You decide to teach her a lesson tonight
Such that forever, by your rules she'll abide
(Darling, please
I know this isn't you
You're a good man
I know that is true)
You sneer, laugh at what she says
Leave your mark, paint a painful picture
Along her body, on her pretty face
Hear her muffled cries and smile like a victor
(Darling, please stop
It hurts so bad
What did I do
To make you so mad?)
(We were your family
A peace so rare
You became a monster
Our darkest nightmare)
This is a tribute to a friend of mine who recently succumbed to the darkness.
I hope you have found your peace. We all miss you. We are sorry for not being there for you and for not understanding.
Ave atque vale, mi amice.
~Halyn
