Coming Out-Kleinsen

@That_1_Nerd requested "Would you mind writing some good ol' Kleinsen? Maybe a hurt/comfort one where Jared comes out to his parents and it doesn't go over well so he goes over to Evan's house, and Evan just goes into protective boyfriend mode?"

It would be an HONOR

When Evan picked up the phone to answer Jared's call, he couldn't help but fear the worst.

"Hi. Um, hi, honey." Even knew Jared liked that nickname, partly since it was comforting, and partly because of the 'Honey I'm Home' joke.

"Hi Evan. Um, this is kind of sudden, but...could I crash at your place for the night? Only for a night, I mean-" Jared sounded unusually close to tears.

"Yeah, sure! Let me just ask my-" Heidi, who was sitting across from him nodded, her eyes full of tears. She'd decided to wait and stay with Evan to hear Jared's call. "Okay, yeah. Sure, she said yes."

"Oh, hi, Mrs. Hansen," Jared said. "Unless you're not there, then tell her I love her Ev."

"Hi Jared," Heidi said into the phone. "You doing okay?"

"Well, uh. I'm ten feet in front of your door if that's an explanation." Evan got up quickly, tripping over his seat as he hurried to the front door. Jared stood right in front of it, his phone to his ear and eyes watering.

"Hey," Evan said. He didn't know what else to say.

"That's for horses." Jared managed weakly. A backpack was slung over his shoulder, and his school backpack was stuffed full and in his other hand. Evan put his arms around Jared, and that was all it took to make Jared break down sobbing.

"Well," Jared said twenty minutes later in the Hansen's house on the couch. (Jared had cried for a good five minutes, setting off Evan, who cried for ten, which set off Jared, who cried for ten as well.)"It did not go well."

"We gathered," Evan and Heidi said at the same time. Evan put his arms around Jared. "Do you want to talk about it?"

"Well...I told them 'oh hey I'm gay,' and then they went 'not our son' faster than a trending twitter hashtag." Evan's face went red.

"They said that?"

"Yeah, I guess I shouldn't really worry about that, but...could I stay here? Just until I can get back on my feet-"

"Stay here as long as you need to," Heidi said to Jared, looking him in the eyes. "Which should be at least a year, right along with Evan if I have anything to say about it." Heidi stood and went to the other side of the house. "I'm going to put your stuff up in Evan's room, for now, I suspect you two need some time alone." Heidi looked at both of them. "Call me if either of you needs anything."

"We will," Evan promised. He turned to Jared. "If I wasn't so scared of confrontation, I...I think I'd smack your parents."

Jared smiled at Evan from behind his still shining tear tracts. "You're too sweet. And I think you're perfect the way you are, no confrontation trait needed."

"You sure?" Evan was plaing with Jared's hands.

"I'm more than sure, Ev. Because no matter what life or Mr. and Mrs. Kleinman throw our way, we're gonna be okay. And you wanna know why?"

"Why?" Evan was looking Jared directly in the eyes, and he had to remind himself to keep going and not just stare at those eyes.

"Because the both of us may be messed up and weird...but we're perfect together and erfect for each other. That's why." Jared hated how rom-com-y he sounded.

"You sound like a teen book or something, Jare." Evan mumbled.

"Yeah, well, you win some you lose some. Where's my kiss?" Evan giggled slightly as he leaned in and gave his boyfriend one.
