Veronica Sawyer- Senior Year (c)

Heathers The Musical One Shot

There was only a couple of weeks left of summer break before you were to go back to high school for your senior year. It was rather intimidating to think that this time next year, you would be preparing to go to college, if things went to plan. Nevertheless, the fact that your future was almost in your grasp, you were excited for senior year. Nothing ever happened at school, so you hoped desperately that with the last year coming around, you would have something exciting occur.

To commemorate the nearing end of summer, your best friend Veronica was staying at your house, sharing as many unhealthy snacks as you could get your hands on and watching terrible old movies on TV. The two of you were sprawled out on your bed, surrounded by half empty packets of snacks as you tried to enjoy one of your last moments of freedom that you had.

"Hopefully something interesting will happen this year," you sighed. "Maybe you'll be prom queen Veronica."

You knew it was a far-fetched idea, it was almost certain that Heather Chandler would be the one to hold that title but having spent the last few hours watching fictional high school films, maybe Veronica would be the protagonist that is the unlikely winner.

Veronica rolled her eyes at your comment.

"I'm too gay and lazy for anything exciting to happen," she shrugged.

"Don't be so dismissive," you laughed. "It can't be as boring as every other year of school. Maybe one of the Heathers will be exposed for being in the chess club, or Martha will become a cheerleader."

Veronica joined your laughter. Both were unlikely circumstances to occur at your school, but it was nice to think of something remotely better than the normal school situation happening again.

"I doubt it," she stated. "Who knows though. With Mrs Flemming there, it is hard to think that something exciting won't happen."

It was true, she was a rather odd woman and tried to through those thoughts out onto the students. However just her normal weirdness wasn't something that you would consider to be too exciting.

"It's just sad to think that it is our last year there," you sighed. "I don't want to look back at my time in High School and say that nothing happened. There needs to be a scandal or something new. It's not even like we're invited to any of the bloody parties."

"Would you actually want to be invited to one of the parties?" She questioned.

You pondered the thought for a minute, before shaking your head. Maybe it was better if things stayed the same, rather than something that would be mental torture to you.
