Philip Carlyle- Walk (h)
The Greatest Showman One Shot
Anyone that was in Barnum's circus knew by now how close you and Phillip were, everyone just knew that there was something between you and Phillip but neither of you seemed to realise.
When P.T had asked you to come and work for him to help with the costumes for everyone you hadn't been able to say no – it was the best job if you were honest and some days it didn't feel like a job.
On those days it was usually Phillip that had you feeling like you weren't at work, he always made time to come and talk to you and sometimes it seemed as if he tried to talk to you as much as he could. He hadn't gone as far as asking to see you outside of the circus, but you were secretly hoping he would.
You'd had a long day of fittings and getting new costumes ready as P.T had asked, Phillip came to find you in your office and found you asleep on the desk where your sewing machine was.
He found himself smiling at how peaceful you looked and a part of him didn't have the heart to wake you up.
He'd initially come into your office just to find a reason to talk to you, as he did at the end of every day, because as sad as it sounded the favourite part of his day was being able to talk to you.
"Hey doll," Phillip whispered as he shook your shoulder gently.
You stirred from your sleep and then panicked when you realised where you had fallen asleep. "Oh god, I'm so sorry!" you quickly apologised, not even knowing who you were apologising to.
Phillip chuckled, resting his hands on your shoulders to stop you from running around in a panic. "I don't know who you're apologising to doll, but it definitely doesn't need to be me."
It was then that you realised it wasn't P.T waking you up but Phillip – only Phillip called you doll.
"Now, seeing as you're so tired how I about I walk you home?" he offered with a smile.
"Are you being serious?" you questioned out of confusion.
Phillip chuckled nervously but nodded. "I can't have a gorgeous woman such as yourself walking home when she's so tired – anything could happen!" he declared with a joking tone.
You laughed but began to collect your things. "I suppose I can't say no to such a handsome escort."
The smile that graced his face told you you had said the right thing. And so, once you had collected everything, Phillip held your coat up for you to put it on.
"Are you sure you're happy to walk with me?"
Phillip rolled his eyes before he offered you his arm. "Doll, I wouldn't offer if I did not want to."
You took his arm, placing your hand in the crook of his elbow, and the two of you made your way out of the circus building.
"I am now realising that I don't actually know where you live," Phillip commented as the two of you started to walk.
Laughing, you shook your head. "Well, it is a good job that I know then isn't it?"
The two of you walked in silence for a while, enjoying each other's company and the bustle of the streets.
Phillip moved his free hand to rest atop yours causing you to look over to him.
He blushed slightly but then cleared his throat. "Doll, I've been wanting to say this for a long time now," he started and smiled at you. "If I'm being honest, I've got a bit of a thing for you and I'd really like it if you let me take you to dinner."
You couldn't quite believe what you were hearing but you nodded, trying to not show the pure excitement you were feeling. "I was beginning to wonder when you'd ask."
