Kevin Price- University (c)
The Book of Mormon One Shot
As you walked through the courtyard of your university, you looked over the different stalls that lined the pathways, students surrounding each of them. None of them really jumped out at you, you weren't looking to join any societies and the random ones for the local stores or take out places were too packed due to their free samples of everything. Every stall had at least one person stood behind it, and a couple in front, most people laughing and chatting, the pathways filled with students.
Everywhere was busy, even the stalls for the most bizarre things, trying to get students to not only be part of the university but the community that was within your city and to better their lives. You weren't too interested in anything until you got to the far corner of the courtyard and was faced with a stall that only had one man stood behind it, and no one approaching it.
Above the fold out table was a stark white banner with printed letters stating 'The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints'. You had never been religious, and you had no desire to change that, but you couldn't help but feel bad for the guy who was just stood behind the table attempting to get people to come over to his stall, but no one was interested.
You approached the stall, looking through some of the leaflets that covered the table. The man instantly became chipper with you having arrived at his stall.
"Hello!" He beamed. "My name is Elder Price and I would like to share with you the most amazing book."
You cocked your eyebrow at him. His white shirt was perfectly pressed, his hair slicked to perfection without a single hair out of line. He stood out like a sore thumb in the crowd of students. You doubted he was a student at your university, but he certainly was the age of one but looked as though he was a mannequin due to the lack of signs that he was human, rather just a copy of one.
"You don't have to give me your spiel," you stated.
"What?" He asked, rather taken aback.
"I know what Mormonism is, I have no interest, sorry."
He paused for a moment, but his smile didn't falter.
"Then you cannot know everything about it," he grinned. "You see, there are so many marvellous things about being a Mormon. If you just have a minute, I am sure I can convince you of the fact."
You shook your head. "I admire your faith, but I have no interest. I only came over as you're kind of cute and I felt bad that no one else had come over."
His smile faltered for a moment, not expecting you to compliment his appearance. Maybe things weren't going the way he wanted them to, but it didn't mean that they were going badly.
"Oh," he said with an awkward laugh. "You are rather beautiful yourself."
Compliments weren't a common occurrence for you. You were on the larger side of people and although you cared little for that fact, other people did. Frankly you didn't care what other people thought of your weight and appearance, you were happy in how you looked, but still a compliment would never go amiss.
"Thank you," you smiled. "I'm Y/N."
He held out his hand to you. "I'm Kevin."
