Newsies The Musical One Shot

When Katherine didn't return home in time for dinner, you tried your best to keep your nerves at bay, knowing that she lost herself to time more often than not. With every minute of her not walking through the door, you became less certain that she had been too busy to pay attention to her pocket watch and ended up worrying more and more that something bad had happened to her and you would never see your love ever again.

For a few more minutes of nail biting and heart palpitations, you begun to consider running from your home to seek help or look for her yourself, but the front door opened before you had the chance. Katherine appeared, dishevelled but with the biggest smile upon her face that you had ever seen.

"Where have you been?" You exclaimed, pulling her into a bone crushing hug, having thought that you would never see her again.

"I was at the protest," she smiled. "I had to come home the long way after the police arrived."

"The police?"

She didn't seem phased by what she told you. You always knew that she was willing to do a lot for a story, but she had never gone this far thus yet.

"Y/N, it was exhilarating," she beamed. "I have never seen anything like it. I know that this is going to be the start of a huge change and I am the one that is going to be writing about it."

"Can you not see the danger that happened? I spoke with Mrs Dwyer next door, and she said that her husband had been nearby and deemed it a riot. You could have gotten hurt, heck, you could have died."

Katherine, rested a gentle hand on your shoulder, offering you a reassuring smile, attempting to make you feel as though what she had done wasn't completely insane.

"It was a necessary part of the strike; it's going to help bring it to light and it will be my big break too. This is going to change our lives and the lives of these kids," she smiled warmly. "There is always danger when there is such a big change but that doesn't mean that it's not worth it, if anything it means that it is worth so much more."

You let out a sigh, knowing it was true. She wasn't putting herself in danger for the sake of it, but to help the underdog, something you knew was very important to her.

"Please just be safe," you begged. "I don't know what I'd do without you. I don't know what they'd do without you."

"I promise."
