You rushed up the stairs using the candle from your bedside to light your way until you reached the bed chambers that you wanted to reach. You didn't bother knocking on the door, instead snuck into the room without anyone knowing that you were there. Normally you wouldn't sneak around the castle or go into chambers without invitation but now you had to be there and there were far more important things than normal etiquette.

"Wake up Lady Katherine," you begged, shaking the woman who was in blissful slumber, unaware of the dangers that lay in her midst.

She let out a grunt as she sat up, confused by the unexpected wake up call in the middle of the night.

"What are you doing here?" She questioned.

"We must leave before first light," you told her. "It is of the utmost importance."

"I don't understand."

You grabbed her hand and pulled her from her mattress to her feet. Handing her a cloak, you told her to put it on and with a loud yawn, she did as she was told.

"What's happening?" She asked.

"Henry is going to send you to the tower," you warned her. "The guards are expected to be here in the morning to take you there. He is going to have you executed for your infidelity. I must get you out of here before his plan is taken into action as I cannot help you escape the tower once you are there."

Her face paled as she gripped the cloak that you had given to her, desperate for some form of comfort.

"He wants me dead?" She croaked.

"That does not matter now. I have been working to gain you passage to the continent. I have a boat waiting at the dock to take you to France. From there I have friends posted to get you to a safe location. However, we must leave at this second or we will be caught," you said, taking her hand once again.

You pulled her from her chambers, telling her to be quiet, worried to allow anyone know that the two of you were trying to escape and make your way to the dock.

"It's going to be okay," you assured her. "I promise I will do everything in my power to keep you safe."

She nodded her head, her eyes tearful. "I don't know what I would do without you."
