Cathy Hiatt- Ticket (c)

The Last Five Years One Shot

As soon as tickets were put on sale, you made sure to get in to buy one front and centre so that you could see your girlfriend in her performance. You knew how hard Cathy had worked through her auditions and even if her role was small, it was a huge step for her.

With your ticket, you excitedly headed to find Cathy to let her know, knowing full well that if you'd told her before buying it, she would have completely forbidden you from buying it.

"What are you smiling for?" She questioned when you entered the room, a large grin on your face.

"I bought my ticket to opening night," you said with a happy dance.

Her expression dropped instantly at the sound of it.

"Why would you do that?" She asked. "You don't need to see the show."

"But I want to hear you sing!"

Cathy did sing constantly in the house, but it wasn't the same, you wanted to hear her on stage where she belonged. You had heard her sing a lot and knew how talented she was, so you didn't see any reason not to support her through her journey to getting a chance in the spotlight.

"You always hear me sing, it's hardly something new," she frowned.

You shook your head at her. "I want to support you and show that I am with you through thick and thin. This is your first big show and I want to be there to see you blow everyone away."

"I only have one line and singing in the background," she stated. "It's hardly something you should waste your money on seeing me do."

You pulled your girlfriend into a big, tight hug, not releasing her until she was able to accept the embrace and return it to you.

"You could poke your head past the curtain once and I'd pay to see you stood on that stage," you grinned. "I love you and this is a big deal, so I am going to be there to support you."

"I just don't want to disappoint you."

You reached up and pressed a gentle hand to her cheek to be able to show your support and love for the woman before you.

"You could never disappoint me. I know how hard you have worked to get here, and I am very proud to be able to see that someone else has noticed your talent, as will everyone else at the show."

Cathy clearly didn't fully agree with what you were saying but she knew you weren't going to budge on it.
