falsettos (2016, even though i love the 1992 version also) is currently my favorite musical. it's just so amazing??

i love marvin and whizzer's character development and they're the cutest couple ever in act 2.

also, betsy wolfe.

let's take a moment of silence to appreciate her gorgeous voice.

stephanie j block, by the way??? holy shit?

everybody in the cast is so talented and awesome and i love them ALL-

i love the baseball game, especially the line where marvin suggests to whizzer that they could be together again and then everyone says "anything's possible"

because it shows whizzer telling marvin that it's possible, but the line right after that is everyone else surprised that jason hit the ball because ANYTHING'S POSSIBLE.

it's just so smart?? william finn, how the fuck? it's so small but it's just- uGh.

ALSO.

unlikely lovers.

that goddamn song makes me cry every time, and i've watched the pro shot at least 20 times.

i love the fact that marvin feels like he failed and it hurts that him and whizzer lost so much time they could've spent together.

and that was why whizzer was comforting marvin, even though whizzer was the one dying.

and when they confess for the first time in the entire show to each other's faces that they love each other and whizzer is on the verge of tears?

OHHHHHHH HO HO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

and the harmonies when cordelia and charlotte join. ugh. it's perfect.

i can't name one single bad thing about this show.

we need a revival of the revival with the same cast, though.

okay, so. let's talk about everyone hates his parents.

that's one of my favorites for multiple reasons.

1. it's so fun

2. the performance makes me so happy

3. mendel and jason have an amazing bond

4. brandon and anthony. amazing.

5. when jason gets flipped

6. h i l a r i o u s

7. the choreography is so childlike and cute and funny and i just- uGh

8. this part is going to be long. okay. jason had to grow up so quickly because of the adults around him. a lot of his time spent in the show is of him being upset, hating everything around him, praying for his best friend to stop dying, etc.

but everyone hates his parents is one of the few times he sorta gets his childhood back through the playfulness of the song and how goofy and supportive mendel is.

i just love that.
