i actually didn't hate this as much as every other bare fan did

i wouldn't hate something just because it's different. like, a book to movie adaptation means some things will obviously change but it doesn't mean it's bad

there were a lot of changes in bare's revival and some of them i loVED and some of them i uhhhhhh

didn't? it made the story a little harder to follow. i still understood and enjoyed it for the most part (especially act 2) but (and i hate saying this) it didn't live up to the original

still giving this a 7.5 because 👌🏻 except the music isn't as good and memorable and oHHHHH DONT GET ME STARTED ON THE CHARACTERS

i will get started on the characters though so-

i hate how much they changed ivy, matt, and nadia

(i was also a little surprised when sister chantelle wasn't black but it wasn't the biggest issue so i let it slide. i still liked her in this)

i guess nadia's change was something i could get past because i know if i didn't compare it to bare a pop opera then she'd be fine

but nadia's like

more of a bitch

and she wasn't perfect in the original. she slut shamed ivy and was aggressive to others because she pitied herself. but she was never like thIs and i wish she was the same idk

and ivY AND MATT OH MY GOD I LITERALLY HATE THEM

at least in the original i hated ivy because she cheated on matt with jason and was shit to nadia but then liked her a little more later but in the revival she's so much more unlikeable and i can't staNd her

i couldn't deal with what they did to portrait of a girl and all grown up

and matt's only good traits from the original were gOne too like i hATED THAT BITCH

now some things i liked about this revival

idk the names of a lot of the songs btw so ill do my best

the whole scene with mary was phenomenal 👌🏻👌🏻

best friend was really really cute

the scene that was kind of a flashback to how jason and peter got together was adorable and the song that's in jason's head where peter threatens to tell everyone and the students are being

the students yknow

it was really really really awesome

i loVED it

another part i also fucking loved was when they were all looking and critiquing ivy's self portrait and the teacher's like "what's the first thing you think of when you look at this"

and peter's like "math book"

and jason just kinda 😶😶😶😶ed

(it only makes sense if you watch the bootleg im sorry sjsjsk but it's so funny)

and even though i didn't like the whole show it still got me crying i meeeeaaaaaannnnn

but fuck ivy

i was also patiently waiting for birthday bitch which i did nOt receive

(oh btw i forgot to mention how much shittier jason is than he was in the original too but his changes weren't as shit as ivy's)

that one section of birthday bitch was given to jason and it wasn't even the full thing because of course it wasn't because it was supposed to be at iVY's party

and it happened in the original too but i never said that shit didNt make me mad in the original

all grown up is one of my favorites from the original. probably in my top 3 or 4. but they went and changed eVerything and i kinda just sat there waiting for the "just another unwed mother, one more sad statistic now" and the "am i supposed to love this child? is it just that simple then?"

but those parts didn't come because they changed almost all the lyrics sjsjsk but those were just a few of my favorite lyrics in the entire musical
