Its Never Enough

TW: There are mentions of miscarriages. If you are sensitive to that, don't read.

I'm trying to hold my breath.

Catherine was trying. Ever since Arthur died, it's been hard for her. She had to dismiss her servants and sell her jewelry. But she knew god had a plan for her.

She looked up to the sky and clasped her hands together. "Father, I pray that I will be better. That everything will get better."

Let it stay this way, can't let this moment end

Catherine smiled as she looked at Henry. She knew things would get better. She knew god had a plan for her. Now, she was going to do every good thing. She won't let him down.

She looked over to the cross. She was going to be queen. Just like her parents wanted. She would serve her role. She knew that she could do this.

You set off a dream in me. Getting louder now, can you hear it echoing?

Henry twirled Catherine around. She let out a joyous laugh. The crowds were all smiling. It seemed like a happy future for them.

Catherine was so sure. She would grow old with him and be his queen. She wouldn't be alone. Though, she would miss Arthur. After all, he was her first husband. Somewhere in Catherine's heart, she wished he lived.

Take my hand. Will you share this with me? Cause' darling without you

Catherine smiled with delight as she found out she was pregnant. Henry hugged her and told her that this was their future.

But the smile went away when the baby died. She remembered the blood and how she cried out. She didn't even get to hold the baby or name them or even find out the gender.

All the shine of a thousand spotlights.

Catherine tended to her duties as queen. She tried to reassure herself that a baby will come. Maybe even a boy. God did have a plan for her.

She had hope. But how much was there?

All the stars we still from the night sky...

She smiled from ear to ear. This was the baby she was hoping for. She was going to be a mother. Sure, it would ideally be a boy, but secretly she didn't care. But still a boy would be good.

Will never be enough.

She held her baby in her arms. Her precious baby. The baby was a girl, but she didn't care. She looked up at Henry and smiled. Henry smiled back at her. Though, the smile seemed a little disappointed.

But it was alright. They had a child now. Everything was going to be alright.

Towers of gold were still too little

Even though, Mary was a girl, Henry still loved her. Treated her well. Catherine was happy. She had a family. But he still wanted a boy.

Henry didn't stop until he got what he wanted. But she did provide a child. But he wanted more, a son was what he wanted. Catherine wanted to provide that, but Mary was enough if they didn't. At least she hoped.

These hands could hold the world but it'll never be enough. Never be enough

Catherine cried in her room. She just lost a baby. She couldn't lose hope. No, she wouldn't. She can't.

But it seemed that it would never happen. Henry had a son with somebody else. He could have a son. It was Catherine's fault. Who else could it be?

For me. Never, Never

Catherine smiled as Mary played in the garden. She chased butterflies. She was so innocent. She didn't know about her father's....other things.

Catherine frowned when Henry wasn't with them. Henry seemed to be distant. He didn't want to be with Mary as much anymore. Catherine knew who he wanted to spend time with. But running a Kingdom is stressful.

But Catherine just turned the other way. That's how all marriages are. It wasn't the first time. All husbands did it. At least that's what Catherine thought.

Never, Never. Never, for me..

She noticed that Henry seemed to be interested in a girl. She was a girl from France and was her lady in waiting. Catherine payed no mind to it. Plus, she seemed to be interested in someone else.

Marriage was marriage. There was nothing that this girl was going to change.

For me.

Catherine was reading a book. When she noticed that the Boleyn girl seemed a little distressed. She looked annoyed at something but smiled when Catherine looked at her.

Why was she looking like that? Catherine was about to ask when Henry came. Catherine payed attention to her husband.

Never Enough, Never Enough, Never Enough

Henry seemed a little happier these days. But Catherine wasn't the reason. He was spending time with that Boleyn girl. She didn't know why, but this was getting on her nerves.

It never got on her nerves before. Why now? Well, maybe because it always got on her nerves before. All the other women he spent time with, Catherine felt a sadness come over her. She felt like she could never compare. But she was his queen, an honor that no other women would get.

For me, for me, for me

Catherine clenched her fist but kept calm. Henry wanted to divorce her to marry that Boleyn woman. Why? After all this time! After all these years!

"Why? Why Henry?" She felt tears running down her cheeks.

All the shine of a thousand spotlights

"She was my brother's wife!" Henry argued. But in the end, the pope refused Henry. Catherine couldn't help but smile at that.

She would be queen until the end of her life. She knew she would be. But maybe all the cheating being gone would be nice.

All the stars we still from the night sky

Catherine's smile was short lived. Henry had raided the church and proclaimed himself head of the church. Now, he could grant himself a divorce.

Catherine couldn't believe he was about to marry that Boleyn woman. She lost the fight.

Will never be enough

Catherine was separated from Mary. The only child that lived. Catherine was heartbroken. She would never see her again.

Towers of gold are still too little

Catherine refused to let Mary's status go. She couldn't. She could still be queen, he wasn't going to denounce Mary's right to the throne.

Was Mary not enough for him? Whatever child that Boleyn woman had was now heir to the throne. Did Mary not matter?

These hand could hold the world but it'll never be enough, Never be enough

Catherine was now alone. She had no one but Maria. She smiled as Maria stuck by her side. But she could never see Mary again, but she wasn't going to be in isolation. That was good.

But she was going to be a bastard child.

For me. Never, Never

Catherine was still queen. He might have married Boleyn. But she was his true queen. She was still alive.

She hoped that they all see that.

Never, Never, Never, for me

Catherine's health was deteriorating. She wasn't as lively as She was before. She needed more help.

She was going to die. Die in isolation.

For me

The guards were holding Maria back. Maria was trying to get to her queen. "Catherine!" She called out and rushed to her queen's side.

Catherine looked up at her and smiled. "Thank you for always being there for me. The last one I see before I pass." Tears streaked Maria's cheeks. Catherine let out one last breath and passed.

Never Enough

Mary was told not to mourn her mother. But she couldn't help it. She cried silently in her room, now she was a bastard child. All because of that Boleyn woman.

This was all her fault.

Never, Never

Anne felt guilty as she heard Catherine passed. She looked over at Henry. This was all his fault. She wouldn't be like this if this wasn't for him.

Things wouldn't have been like this.

Never enough

The Kingdom mourned their beloved queen. She was their true queen. Not that woman. The hate for that woman was strong. She wasn't their queen.

She wasn't.

Never, Never

Catherine's eyes opened widely. "What is this?" She said, getting up. She was alive. But she died...

She looked in a reflective space and jumped back in shock.

Never, Never

"Hey Catty!" Catherine scowled as she saw Boleyn. "What are you doing here!?" "Woke up here, too! Oh! You got a new look too? Nice!"

Catherine rolled her eyes at her. "Just stop. Stay in your corner, get as far away from me."

For me

Catherine smiled as she was finally going to tell her story. Tell her pain to the world. Showing how much pain she went through.

Finally speak her mind and become the leader of the band.

For me

She smirked when her song finished. "Well, I think rules are rules. And I win! I'm the only story you need to hear." "Yeah, I don't think so." She looked over at the others queens. They started to sing about Boleyn.

Catherine couldn't hide her distaste. Once again, her moment stolen from Boleyn.

For me

Catherine glared at Boleyn. "WELL I HAD 5 MISCARRIAGES!" She yelled out with a heartbreaking tone. She and Boleyn started to insult each other more.

There was a flurry of insults between them. Until Parr interrupted.

Anne extended a hand towards her. It was a sign of friendship. A sign of how they shouldn't be divided because of Henry. A new page, a new life.

Catherine had a chance at another life. She shouldn't waste it away hating her. She shouldn't.

She took her hand with a smile.

For me....
