Mike stood onstage at the talent show.

He was really nervous.

Nothing this, Ike grabs his hand, squeezing it softly as the music starts playing.

Ike was singing first.

Mike noticed Hotshot's jaw drop, gaping at Ike.

Ike: I'm not scared of the dark

Mike nudges his twin, smirking.

Ike: You've never seen it look so easy

Ike smirks, shooting Hotshot a wink.

Hotshot blushes.

Ike: I got a river for a soul, and baby, you're a boat

Ike: If I didn't have you there would be nothing left

Ike looks to his twin, who smiles.

Ike: The shell of a man who could never be his best

Ike puts his arm around Mike's shoulder, making a motion as to look at the sun with his hand.

Mike smiles.

Ike: You taught me how to be someone, yeah

Mike takes a deep breath.

Ike squeezes his hand again.

Mike: When no one else was ever behind me

Mike saw multiple people, including Newsies, students he didn't know, and teachers, gawking at him.

Ike smiles when he notices. His brother had a really good voice.

He made eye contact with JoJo.

Ike joins his twin.

Ike was starting to get more pumped up, causing him to start bouncing on his toes.

Mike had to hold back his chuckles.

The twins did take note of the fact that the lights shining in their eyes were very bright.

Mike swore he saw a girl pass out when Ike looked at her and he saw other girls swoon over him.

Ike had always been the flirtier twin, but Mike knew there was someone that Ike had his eyes on.

"Yeah, well, some people are not just enjoying the harmonies," Race gestures to Elmer and Hotshot.

Elmer and Hotshot were staring, eyes wide and jaws dropped at Mike and Ike.

The three boys chuckle.

He grins at his twin.

Jack chuckles at how excited the two boys on stage were.

Mike and Ike pretend to help each other not get pulled to the ground, causing people in the audience to either laugh or chuckle.

Ike steps forward, his arm leaving Mike's shoulders.

Hotshot swore this boy got cuter with every second, and his voice at this one part was actually going to kill him.

(Stopping people's hearts is dangerous, Ike.
Yeah, Ike. You should probably go to jail for that.
Shut up.)

Ike smiles, determined.

Mike smiles, his hand finding his twin's again.

They start singing together again.

People in the audience started clapping to the beat.

Mike riffs, which most of the boys didn't know he could do.

Ike grins.

Oscar and Morris were cheering for them, huge grins on their faces.

Ike shoots them a thumbs up and a grin, mouthing a 'thank you'.

The brothers had helped them practice and pick their song.

Oscar and Morris nod at him, also grinning.

The twins raised their hands that held each other's over their heads.

They grin as they look over the ground, finishing the song.

The crowd starts cheering, the Newsies and Delanceys being the loudest by a lot.

The two boys hug each other, gripping each other so tightly they thought they'd squeeze the air out of each other.

"We did it." Mike whispers in his twin's ear excitedly.

A grin lit up Ike's face. "And we'll continue to do it as long as we have each other." He responds quietly.

He swore Mike hugged him tighter at that statement.

He didn't care, he was just so happy.

They let themselves get lost in that moment that seemed to last forever.
