When you turn thirteen, any music your soulmate listens to, you hear.

It usually works that when the first soulmate turns thirteen, you start hearing each other's music.

That's what happened for Albert.

He realized his soulmate had pretty good taste.

And sometimes, his music reflected how they felt.

There were times when Albert just wanted to hug them forever.

They'd listen to stuff like 'Me and My Broken Heart', 'She Used to be Mine', 'You Don't Know', and so many more sad songs.

Other times, they'd listen to happy songs.

And show-tunes were a recent occurrence as well.

Plus, this kid played 'happy birthday' on Albert's birthday every year.

Since that was the first day both of them heard each other's music, the kid knew Albert's birthday, but Albert didn't know theirs.

One song that really stuck out to Albert was 'I Hear a Symphony'.

They played it so much, and Albert had grown to love it.

Currently, they were playing it again.

Albert taps his fingers to the rhythm of the song.

I used to hear a simple song

Albert smiles.

He loved this song, and honestly, when he heard his soulmate singing it at night, it lulled him to sleep like it was a lullaby.

His soulmate had an amazing voice.

That was until you came along

Antonio walks down the streets of his new city.

He had been born in Italy, then moved to Queens with his father, then Brooklyn in a foster care system, and now he lived in Manhattan with a new foster family.

Now in its place is something new

Antonio looks around, biting his lip nervously, before pulling out his headphones, playing his favorite song.

It usually helped calm him down.

I hear it when I look at you

Albert looks at himself in the mirror, the song playing in his head because of his soulmate.

He really wanted to meet them and soon.

With simple songs, I wanted more

Antonio skips all of the other songs on his playlist, really wanting to hear this one song.

He needed to hear it.

Perfection is so quick to bore

Albert pulls out his headphones, going to turn on a song.

Then, the song that he started calling his 'Soulmate's Symphony song' started playing in his head.

You are my beautiful, by far

Albert lays in his bed, smiling softly as he stares at the ceiling.

His soulmate's beautiful voice filled his mind/head as they sang.

Our flaws are who we really are

Tears fill Antonio's eyes as he stares at himself in the bathroom mirror.

He turns to face his foster brother, biting his lip as the salty tears in his eyes threatened to spill out of them.

He hated his scars.

I used to hear a simple song

Albert sits in the grass, just picking at it, when the song filled his ears again.

It was soft, but it made him smile.

Some of the boys around him smile knowingly, sharing looks.

That was until you came along

Albert watches as a short, Italian, blue-eyed, dirty, blonde haired boy walks with Jack and Crutchie over to their group.

He immediately felt his breath catch in his throat. He's cute...

You took my broken melody

One of Antonio's earbuds stayed in his left ear as he squished the stress ball that was in his pocket.

And now, I hear a symphony

Albert could hear the music from their song, but not even just from his mind.

The new boy was playing it.

Albert looks at him, his eyes wide. "Is that the Symphony song?" He asks

The boy looks at him, his eyes wide as he nods softly.

Albert swore he could've squealed right there, but got up calmly.

He walks over to the blonde boy.

The blonde boy looks at him, before gently taking his hand.

And now, I hear

They listened together as the final notes of the song played in their ears and minds.

A symphony

Albert sings the last two words of the song softly.

Antonio grins, hugging Albert.

Albert smiles, his arms slipping around the shorter boy's waist.

"And by the way," Antonio whispers in Albert's ear. "It's called 'I Have a Symphony'."

Albert smiles, his grip on Antonio tightening slightly. "I found mine..." he whispers, his head nuzzling in his soulmate's neck.

Antonio blushes.
