I wake up to my mother yelling at the top of her lungs. I'm going to a new school, San Fransisco High. My mum told me it was a good idea to move because of educational reasons. Even though I'm not a nerd, I still agreed to it since I had no friends at my other school. I get dressed into my jeans and white shirt and make my way downstairs. 

"I thought you'd never wake up, James," my mother says, after noticing my presence in the kitchen. "Remember to make a good impretion on your first day with the kids and teachers and try to make some friends, okay?"

"Okay, mum," I say, grabbing a piece of toast and running out of the house.

I go into the garage to find my convertable (yes that's right, I have my own car) waiting for me. I put my stuff in the back and hop in. As I drive around the town, I notice a lot of people own monster trucks or BMWs. Well, I'm already the odd one out. I park near the school and walk. Lots of people are meeting up after the break and many look at my oddly. Make sense, they've never seen me before. As I walk to the office, I bump into someone. As I get up, whoever I bumped into has already left. Confused, I continue to make my way.

~Time skip to where James is going to class~

My first class is English. As I go in, the teacher asks me to sit while he writes on the board. I find the only available seat left and sit at it. Next to me is a girl. She wears a black hood and black riped jeans. In her ears, she wears earbuds. Her eyes are focused on her notebook with her hand keeping her pencil busy. Brown hair curtains her face.

She seems oddly intriguing. The teacher gets everyones attention and class starts. I forget about her until the end of the lesson, when she gets her stuff and leaves, her pathway to the door infront of my desk. I don't see her again until lunch. I see her sitting alone, earbuds still in and not touching her food. Because I don't have anywhere else to sit, I go over to her and take a seat. She stiffens at my presence and looks up. Her green eyes are full of wonder and suprise. She wears black lipstick and has a black choker around her neck.

"Hi, I'm James," I say, putting my hand out.

She nods and looks back down. I figure she doesn't want to talk so I stop and eat my food. The whole time, she looks down and doesn't touch her food at all. The bell goes, she picks up her bag and leaves. Something about this girl is odd and I want to know what. I go to science and there she is, sitting in a chair at the far left corner. I sit down and the lesson starts. For a reason I do not understand, the teacher gives us an assessment on micro-organisms and it's buddies. She reads out a list and tells everyone to find their buddy. I wait for my buddy and who is it? Why emo girl of course! Her earbuds are still in!

"Do you want to come to my house or not to work on the project?" She asks, almost a whisper but loud enough for only me to hear.

"Sure, but what is your name?" I ask, curious.

"Ava," she replies.

We don't talk again until I find her waiting at my car. 

"How did you?" I ask, confused that she knows so much about me and I know nothing about her.

"Saw you this morning, you're driving," Ava says, getting in as soon as I unlock it.
