Chapter 9 Trouble
Maybe it wasn't fair that Killian expected Lyric to be civil after all, he had been the one to tell her that he couldn't be in a relationship with his student only to turn around and kiss her a few weeks later and then act like it never happened. Fair enough, however what he didn't expect, was Lyric who was normally the only one actually paying attention was listening to her ipod and writing something in one of her notebooks.
"Miss McKenna." Killian said. There was no response. He sighed and walked over and took her ear buds out.
"Miss Mckenna!" He said. She looked up at him.
"Yeah?" She asked.
"I'm teaching." Killian said and narrowed his icy eyes at her.
"Oh. That's what you were doing? I'm sorry maybe you should make your intentions more clear Mr. Jones." She said and tossed her ipod aside and folded her hands across her lap.
"Congratulations McKenna, I will see you after school for detention. Are my intentions clear now?" Killian asked crossing his arms over his chest. Lyric looked like she wanted to scream out of frustration but held it back.
"Yes. Sir." She said through gritted teeth.
"Good. Pay attention." He said and walked back to the front of the class.
I hate you I hate you I hate you
Lyric thought to herself trying to will it to be. This would be so much easier if she did hate him.
When the bell rang Lyric packed up her things with the rest of the class.
"Miss Mckenna, stay behind for a moment." Killian said. Lyric took a deep breath pushing back her temper that she never had a problem with until he came around.
"Actually, I have to go Mr. Jones whatever you have to say to me, you can say to me in Detention." Lyric said.
"Sit down." Killian said.
Piss off Is what Lyric wanted to say but she was too nice.
Lyric sighed and sat down while everyone else walked out of the classroom.
"Was that your idea of being Civil?" Killian asked.
"Compared to what I'd like to say and do? Yes." Lyric replied.
"Look, I'm sorry about Friday night It shouldn't have happened." Killian said Lyric shrugged.
"But it did. Maybe this was a bad idea. Maybe I shouldn't be in your class." Lyric said.
"Don't drop my class. We can figure this out."
"Right. Well. When YOU figure it out. Please let me know." Lyric said and stood up. "See you for detention."
"You don't actually have to come to detention Lyric that was just for show." Killian sighed. "Maybe just tone it down a little. I get it your pissed but I don't want to actually have to report you."
"Sure. Got it. See ya." Lyric said and grabbed her things before walking out of the classroom and out of the music building.
"Have another special meeting with Mr. Jones?" Kathryn asked as she came out of the choir room.. Lyric groaned to herself and just kept walking. "You must be doing terrible in his class." Kathryn giggled catching up with her.
Leave me alone you blonde headed pom pom carrying minion of hell.
"Is that what you do to get good grades Kathryn?" Lyric asked turning to face her. "You sure seem to know an awful lot about it."
Kathryn glared at her.
"Oh, we don't like it when people assume we are a whore do we?" Lyric asked.
"Watch your back new Girl. you don't know who you are messing with." Kathryn sneered and walked away.
Lyric didn't even glance up when the guys sat down at her table. She expected it by now, and she had to admit that their company wasn't so bad after all.
"You seem tense today." Will said and put his hands on her shoulders catching her off guard for a minute. She looked up at Killian who was glaring from across the cafeteria and leaned back letting Will massage her shoulders.
Are you jealous Jones? Good.
"My girlfriend, Ruby is having a party friday night. You should come." Victor said. Lyric laughed.
"Party girl is your girlfriend?"
"Yes, why is that funny?" Victor asked.
"It's just.. almost unbelievable, I didn't peg you as Ruby's type. Why don't you sit with her at lunch?" Lyric asked.
"Because she sits with her friends."
"Bookworm and Red Jacket?"
"Belle and Emma." Victor smirked. "They're cool, maybe you should get to know them."
"I don't know, I'm just now getting used to you three. I'm not sure adding more people to my circle is what I want." Lyric said. "And.. I'm not much of a party person." she added.
"Oh you just haven't been to the right one." Will said with a wink. "Come on, come to this one. It will be fun."
"No." Lyric laughed. "I don't have time for parties."
"Its friday. What do you do on fridays?" Jefferson asked.
Lyric climbed over the console onto his lap needing to be as close as she possibly could to Killian. Killians hands latched onto her hips and her hands snaked up his tee shirt running up and down his chest craving the heat of his skin.
"I can't stay away from you Lyric. I can't do it." Killian said breathlessly pulling away from their kiss
"So don't." Lyric mumbled before her lips found their way to the sensitive skin of his neck.
"Earth to Lyric!" Victor said waving a hand in front of her face Lyric snapped out of her day dream.
"What?" She asked.
"I asked what you do on Friday and you just spaced out." Jefferson laughed.
"You were thinking about me, weren't you?" Will asked.
"Oh. Definitely." Lyric laughed and glanced up at Killian who was still watching her like a hawk.
God Damn you Killian Jones
"I don't do much on fridays. I just don't party." Lyric said finally answering Jeffersons question.
"Just try this one. I promise New Girl, I won't let anything happen to ya." Will smirked.
"That's not very reassuring."
"Ouch. that hurts." Will pouted.
"I'll think about it." Lyric said. "No promises."
Will smiled. "So I'll pick you up at 8 friday then?"
"Will.. I didn-" Lyrics phone vibrated in her pocket and she pulled it out to look at it.
Killian:
Scarlet isn't really your type.
Lyric growled down at her phone and shoved it back in her pocket and then smiled at Will.
"Yes. Friday at 8. 1300 East Oak." Lyric said. "I have to go. I'm dying to see what I got on my history test last week so I'm going to go see if Mr. Nolan is in."
"You are so weird." Jefferson said as Lyric stood and went to dump her lunch tray and put it up and then walked out of the cafeteria glancing up at Killian as she walked by.
Lyric had to wait for the bell to ring to get into Mr. Nolan's classroom when he came and unlocked the door she sat at her desk and started copying the notes on the board while walked over to the desk and grabbed a stack of papers from his desk and started walking around the class with them.
"I'm disappointed, most of you did poorly on this test so, the notes on the board are actually review. Its not that hard guys, its all in the book." Mr. Nolan said and put Lyrics test down on her desk. Lyric flipped it and her heart sank at the giant D written in red ink at the top. with a note "Not your best work Miss McKenna." Underneath it. This had to be a mistake.
"Mr. Nolan this can't be right." Lyric said
"Miss Mckenna I thought that myself, I looked over it three times to make sure I was seeing it correctly." Mr. Nolan replied. "Maybe you should have studied a little harder." He said. Regina put her hand on Lyrics forearm.
"Don't worry, I'm sure you'll find a way to get him to change the grade." She grinned.
Lyric pulled her arm away.
"Don't touch me." She muttered.
"Is there going to be a retake?" Lyric asked.
"No, this grade is final." Mr. Nolan said. Lyric sighed and banged her forehead on her desk.
"Just see him after class and work it out." Regina whispered.
"Shut UP!" Lyric shouted and looked up at Regina
"Excuse me?" Mr. Nolan said and crossed his arms over his chest narrowing his eyes at her.
"I was talking to Regina." Lyric said quietly
"Really? because I didn't hear Regina say anything. Nice try. I'll let Mr. Gold know you are on your way to see him."
"But Mr. Nolan really I was ta-"
Mr. Nolan pointed to the door.
"Go." He said. Lyric sighed and stood up.
"Bye bye." Regina whispered
"You have got to be freaking kidding me." Lyric mumbled as she grabbed her backpack and walked out of the classroom. Lyric walked down the hall and towards the principal's office and bumped into Killian as she stormed down the hall.
"Sorry." She muttered.
"Shouldn't you be in class?" Killian asked.
"I should be, but Mr. Nolan kicked me out and sent me to see Gold." Lyric sighed.
"David kicked you out? You must have really pissed him off he's one of the most easy going teachers in this place." Killian said. "What did you do?"
"I'd rather not get into it with you Mr. Jones, it's none of your business and I'd rather Mr. Gold not have to come find me." Lyric said and pushed her way past him.
"Hey. wait a minute." Killian said and pulled her back "I get it your pissed off, but really? Scarlet?"
"What are you talking about?" Lyric asked.
"Oh. so you weren't twirling your hair and giving him that flirty little smile in the cafeteria?" Killian asked and crossed his arms.
"Does it bother you Mr. Jones?" Lyric asked. "I don't see why it should, I am just your student and you are just my teacher." She said coldly.
"I don't like him touching you." Killian said rather possessively making Lyric shiver a little.
"Huh. Well. Maybe I shouldn't have accepted his offer to take me to Ruby's party Friday then." Lyric shrugged.
"You're joking right?" Killian asked.
"I guess you'll just have to see." Lyric smiled and started walking away from him.
"See you in detention McKenna." He said. Lyric turned around and glared at him.
"You said I didn't have to show up to that."
"I changed my mind." Killian said. "You can't do that!" Lyric hissed.
"I can actually." He smiled.
"You are such a jerk!" She said clenching her fists at her sides."You're kidding right?"
"I guess you'll have to see." He mocked and walked away with a smirk on his face.
"Ugh!" Lyric yelled out of frustration and stomped off towards Gold's office.
"Miss Mckenna. I didn't think I'd see you in here again so soon." Gold said.
"Well I didn't think I'd be in here again to be honest.." Lyric sighed.
"Screaming at your teacher to shut up guarantees you a trip to see me. You should know that." Gold said and crossed his arms leaning back in his chair.
"But I didn't I was telling Regina to shut up. Mr. Nolan just didn't hear her say anything so he assumed I was telling him to shut up."
"Well, what did Miss Mills say to upset you so much."
"I..uh. I'd rather not say." Lyric said.
"Well why not?"
"Because its...gross." Lyric replied and looked down at her hands.
"So I am left to assume the same thing as Mr. Nolan if you wont tell me what was said." Mr. Gold said and started writing something down.
"That's not fair!" Lyric argued.
"Then just tell me what was said."
"Fine! I got a bad grade on my test and Regina told me I should suck Mr. Nolan off to fix it!" Lyric shouted.
"Miss Mckenna lower your voice when speaking to me." Gold warned. "I suspended Alex this morning for starting the rumor about you and Mr. Jones."
"Oh. Goodie. Maybe you should suspend the rest of the school to then!" Lyric exclaimed losing her patience and stood up.
"Sit down Miss Mckenna or the next person I suspend will be you!" Gold shouted. Lyric sat back down and looked at her hands.
"I will deal with Miss Mills, and correct the situation with Mr. Nolan."
"Thank you." Lyric said and stood up.
"Just a minute." Gold said and handed her a pink slip. Lyric looked down at the pink slip.
"Saturday school??" She demanded.
"For your attitude Miss Mckenna." Gold said. Lyric grumbled and folded up the pink slip and stuck it in her back pocket walking out of the office.
I hate this Goddamn school..
