Chapter 8 Bitter

A/N: Updates may be slow. I just had my wisdom teeth taken out Thursday and since then I keep slipping into coma like sleeps due to the amount of pain medication I am on XD I managed to write this yesterday (I think. I don't remember XD ) but just now getting to publish it. Working on another chapter now, and the next couple of chapters of Catch Me If You Can!  like I said, updates may be slow but I promise I am working on them <3 Enjoy!

Don't do this again Lyric this is dangerous. Focus, breathe, stop, or just ignore your conscience and let him shove his tongue in your mouth. what are you doing?? You are right outside your house!

Lyric climbed over the console onto his lap needing to be as close as she possibly could to Killian. Killians hands latched onto her hips and her hands snaked up his tee shirt running up and down his chest craving the heat of his skin.

"I can't stay away from you Lyric. I can't do it." Killian said breathlessly pulling away from their kiss

"So don't." Lyric mumbled before her lips found their way to the sensitive skin of his neck. Killian's hands tugged at the bottom of her tee shirt. She sat back so he could pull it off but as she sat back she slipped a little and drove her elbow straight into the car horn snapping them both back to reality.

Killian looked at the girl in his lap. His 17 year old student.

Killian what the bloody hell are you doing?? He thought, seeing her panicked expression as the porch light to her house flipped on, only made it worse. This was wrong.

"Shit they're awake. I have to go." Lyric said adjusting herself and climbing back over the console into the passenger's seat. She looked back at Killian, who wouldn't even make eye contact with her.

I told you Lyric. Dangerous.

Lyric sighed heavily and got out of the car. "Thanks for the ride." She muttered and shut the door and walked up the walk away to her house as Killian drove away. She opened the front door and walked in only then realizing she left her guitar in the back of Killian's car.

"So. How was your..air?" Darren asked her. She looked up at him sitting on the couch.

"Uh. Good. Gave me a lot of time to think." Lyric said.

"Who was laying on the horn?" Darren asked. Lyric's face turned a little red at the thought of what almost went down in Killian's car, just feet away from her parents.

"Oh. my friend. They're a little wild." She said and shrugged. "So.. I think I'm just going to go to bed now." She said.

"Wait a minute, where is your guitar?" he asked.

"I left it in my friends car, I'll get it monday." Lyric replied and started up the stairs.

"Wait. We aren't done yet." Darren said. Lyric sighed and turned around. Darren got up and walked into the kitchen and opened the fridge grabbing a couple beers and handed one to Lyric.

"Don't worry. Moms asleep. We've got to talk kid." He said.

"Dad, I'm not a kid." Lyric said.

"You are a kid, and you are my kid and lately you are scaring the hell out of me. So, come sit on the couch, drink this beer and watch a taped hockey game with me and get everything off your chest." He said and walked back into the living room and sat back down and turned on the game. Lyric sat with him and opened her beer.

"Where do I start?" She asked.

"Where ever you want." Darren replied.

"Okay. I'll start with the summer then." Lyric sighed and took a sip of her beer. "I went to a bar, back in June."

"How did you get into the bar?" Darren asked.

"I have a fake ID. But.. I only use it to get into open mic nights. Usually."

"Usually?" He questioned and raised an eyebrow.

"I might have had a couple of shots at this bar." Lyric sighed. "I don't even know why I went there. There wasn't an open Mic but I heard a cover band playing The Eagles."

"You are my child after all." Darren chuckled. "So I'm guessing something happened at the bar because you haven't been quite yourself since we moved here."

"I met someone." Lyric said and half smiled.

"Oh.. like.. someone or.. just someone?" Darren asked.

"I don't know exactly how to answer that." Lyric said.

"So a complicated someone." He smiled. "Your mother was a very complicated someone when we met."

"So you've told me." Lyric laughed.

"What happened with this someone?"

"Uh well.." Lyric sighed and took another sip of her beer, a longer one that before. "I..kind of hooked up with him." She said.

Darren choked on his beer and set it on the coffee table.

"One more time?" He asked.

"I..slept with him. I went..home with him." Lyric said softly. Darren ran his hands over his face and into his hair.

"I think I need to wake up your mother." He sighed.

"No. Dad.. don't. You wanted me to talk. So I am talking. I don't know why I went home with him, I don't know what made me hook up with him I've never felt so connected with one person and all I did was touch his hand and look at his stupid eyes." Lyric mumbled.

"Were you careful? Did you use protection?" Darren asked.

"Yes, Dad. I'm on birth control."

"What? Since when??"

"Since last year. Mom took me I didn't think I'd need it but she wanted me to start it just incase." Lyric said.

"Is that what has been bothering you this whole time? is He why you want to move back to Boston?" Darren asked.

"I don't want to move back to Boston Dad, I was just upset."

"Did he do something to you?" He asked.

"No. Not really. It's just he goes to school with me."

"This bar needs to hire someone who can spot a fake ID." Darren laughed. Lyric smiled.

"I'm guessing your summer fling didn't end well?"

"No. Not really. I don't know. It's just confusing. He's..a different person at school." Lyric shrugged trying to completely avoid telling him, that He didn't just go to school with her, He was her 25 year old Music teacher. He wasn't ready for that bit of information yet.

"Is he the reason you left school crying? Because I don't like guns, but I can change my mind really fast if he had anything to do with that." Darren said.

"No. He didn't."

Well not really anyways

"That was really just bullies being bullies. There's a rumor going around at school."

"What kind of rumor?" Darren asked.

"The whole school seems to think, that because I was kicked out of Mr. Jones class and then got back in that I uh.." Lyric sighed trying to figure out how to word this. "They think that in order for me to get back into class, I..um, gave the teacher a blow job." Darren sighed heavily and shook his head.

"I do not miss high school." He said. "But you know it's just a rumor and that's what's important, who cares what everyone else thinks?" Darren asked.

"Well, it's only what the third week of school and the whole school thinks I am a whore, so.. "

"What about your friends?"

"What? The bad boy, the stoner, and the science nerd?" Lyric asked.

"Jesus are you hanging out with the breakfast club? What do they think?"

"I don't know I didn't really ask. Will was sticking up for me, and Jefferson was just happy I did his history homework for him and Victors just kind of quiet." Lyric shrugged "I don't think they believe it though."

"It's a start. So.. which one of your friends dropped you off? The Bad boy, the stoner or the science Nerd?" Darren asked with a smirk. Lyric glanced away from him.

"Oh. It..was the unnamed, complicated someone from the bar." He said and sighed. "Did you.."

"No." Lyric said.

"Do you think you love him?"

Lyric looked up at her dad, she hadn't really thought of it.

"I don't know. It's just complicated. Neither of us know what we are doing."

"If you love him Lyric, you will know it." Darren smiled.

"So.. you aren't mad?" Lyric asked.

"I'm.. scared. To be honest Lyric, you're my baby and I don't want you making the same mistakes as me and your mother."

"I thought I was a happy mistake." Lyric laughed.

"I wasn't talking about you. Don't you ever call yourself a mistake." Darren said. "I Just know that love makes you do crazy things, you forget who you are."

Where..there's two. No. Lyric you don't love him. You Can't love him he's your teacher and he wouldn't even look at you when you got out of the car

"I know who I am dad. I just.. need to be reminded sometimes. Besides I think that.. me and said complicated someone are done." She shrugged. "We just.. don't work."

"I'm sorry you had to temporarily lose yourself to figure that out kiddo. But it happens to the best of us." He said and pulled her in for a hug. "You gonna be okay?"

"Yeah Dad. I'll be fine." Lyric said. "Just have to focus on what is important." She smiled.

"That's my girl." he said returning her smile.

Lyric laid down in bed staring at her phone before she opened the messages between herself and Killian and sent a quick text

Lyric:

Left my guitar in your car.

she waited for a few minutes before a text came through

Killian:

I'll bring it to class with me Monday morning Miss McKenna.

and we are back to the Miss McKenna thing. Lyric sighed what the hell had she gotten herself into?

Lyric walked into the music building early monday morning to find her guitar case propped up against her seat.

"Didn't expect to see you here so early Miss Mckenna." Killian said stepping out of his office.

"I just figured I'd get a head start.. Mr. Jones" She replied and shrugged her backpack off of her shoulders. and sat down and opened her guitar case avoiding eye contact.

"I discussed the rumor going around school with Mr. Gold. Alex will be suspended starting today." He said.

"Good, I guess." Lyric shrugged. Killian sighed.

"You are upset."

"Why would I be upset?" Lyric asked as she began to tune her guitar.

"Miss Mckenna Friday night.."

"Mistake, yep. I know. Won't let it happen again." Lyric said with just a hint of bitterness in her tone.

"Can we try to be civil?" Killian asked.

"Can you try not to shove your tongue down my throat and then call me Miss Mckenna like it never even happened?" Lyric snapped and then sighed. "Sorry. Yes. I can be civil. Just.. had to get that off my chest."

"Right." Killian said narrowing his eyes at her before he walked over to his white board to start writing things down as the rest of the class was showing up.
