Chapter 6 Rumor
A/N: I have no idea who that is in the gif above but it works for the chapter :P Publishing early again because I am bored and wanted to do it before I go have teeth cut out of my face tomorrow. :P Yay. (( I also suck at sticking to a schedule. :P)
People had been looking at Lyric strangely all day every time she walked by a cluster of people there were giggles and whispers and it was getting irritating, especially when she sat down at her table in the corner of the cafeteria trying to eat and every time she looked up at least a dozen eyes were on her. What the hell was going on? It wasn't long before the bane of her existence and his buddies sat down at her table.
"Will." She sighed and took a bite of her chicken sandwich.
"What are we invisible?" Victor asked gesturing between himself and Jefferson
"Hi, Victor. Hi Jefferson." Lyric said. "What brings you to my corner?" Lyric asked.
"You looked lonely." Will smiled.
"I like the quiet. Though, you three wouldn't happen to know why everyone is staring at me would you?" She asked. Will shook his head.
"Not a clue." He said however she could tell that was less than the truth.
"Why don't you go find out for yourself?" Jefferson asked.
"Because that would require walking over to that table of mean girls like a sacrificial lamb and I'm not about to do that."
"Regina is not that scary." Will shrugged. "You could take her."
"Take her?"
"You know knock her around a bit. I bet you could throw a punch." Will smirked.
"I..don't throw punches?" Lyric said and rubbed her temples feeling a headache coming on.
"Why don't you three go elsewhere? Don't you have other people to bother?"
"Do you have the answers to yesterday's History homework?" Jefferson asked. Lyric smacked her forehead with the palm of her hand and shook her head.
"Honestly? The answers are literally right in the book. You do know what a book is right?"
"Wow, New girl is mean today." Jefferson said and raised an eyebrow. Lyric sighed.
"Give me your paper." She said. Jefferson grinned and handed her a folded up worksheet with god knows what spilled on it.
"You..are hopeless." She muttered and reached down beside her for a pencil out of her backpack and started filling in the blanks trying to make the writing as sloppy as possible so the teacher wouldn't be able to tell it was hers. Her phone buzzed in her pocket and she pulled it out and looked at it.
Killian:
Probably not wise to help the stoner cheat right in front of a teacher.
Lyric looked up at Killian giving her a disapproving look from the other side of the cafeteria.
Lyric:
Probably not wise to be texting your students Mr. Jones, that was a rule we set correct? or are we just breaking all of those now?
Killian:
I'm just saying, it would be really bad if someone besides me was watching you. You know, No cheating policy and all. What other rules have I broken Miss Mckenna?
Lyric:
You know exactly what Rule you broke.
Killian:
Enlighten me.
Lyric looked up and narrowed her eyes at Killian before shoving her phone back in her pocket. What game was he playing? Lyric finished Jeffersons History homework and slid it across the table at him.
"Don't expect me to always do your homework. If you need help I will help you but I'm not doing it for you next time." She said.
"Such a good friend New Girl." Will smirked. Lyric raised an eyebrow at him and looked up as head cheerleader Regina and her minions were making their way to the table.
"Oh..God." Lyric sighed.
"I don't think I've introduced myself." Regina said and smiled, it was a sickly sweet smile.
"That's okay, you really didn't have to." Lyric said.
"I'm Regina." She said.
"Lyric." Lyric replied quietly looking down at her hands
"Oh, I've heard of you." She said and chuckled.
"We've all heard of you." Kathryn Regina's best friend smirked.
"I don't understand. I've only been here for a couple weeks." Lyric said.
"And what an impression you've made..Is it true?" Regina asked.
"Is what true?"
"Well, Alex, here was in the same music class as you until she was kicked out but the funny thing is, is you were also kicked out and now you are back in." Regina smiled. Lyric looked up at Alex who was scowling at her with her arms crossed across her chest.
"Well, yes that is true but I don't understand how that is funny?" Lyric asked.
"Rumor is, that you were so desperate to get back into the class that you would have done anything to get back in" Kathryn said.
"I'm really having a hard time understanding the point of all this." Lyric said and looked at Will. "What is she talking about?"
Will sighed and looked at Regina "Why don't you just leave her alone Gina?" Will asked.
"Come on Lyric, We all know what you did, don't play dumb." Alex said with an eyeroll.
"Please, Fill me in because I have no idea what I did." Lyric said.
"Come on Lyric, let's just go." Will said.
"No, What is everyone talking about?" Lyric asked.
"The whole school is talking about it." Regina grinned. "How you went to see Jones after school and begged him to get back in." She said and then made a gesture like she was giving someone a blow job.
Lyric's eyes widened.
"Everyone thinks.. I.." She started and looked around the cafeteria all eyes were on here now. She looked at Alex
"Why would you start something like this?" She asked.
"Start something? We all know that's what you did." Alex laughed. "If anyone started anything it was you."
"But I didn't." Lyric said her eyes welled.
"Is there a problem over here?" Killian asked as he walked over.
"No." Lyric said softly looking away from him.
"Miss Mills?" Killian asked.
"Not a problem at all, Mr. Jones." She said giving him a flirty smile. Killian looked at Lyric who was trying not to cry and back to Regina and her friends who were giggling.
"Really?" He asked and raised an eyebrow.
"It's..nothing Mr. Jones." Lyric said still looking down at her hands. Killian wanted to stay and find out what was really going on, but Lyric clearly wanted him to go.
"Why don't you ladies go back to your table?" He asked Regina and her friends.
"Anything for you Mr. Jones. Right Lyric?" Regina asked with a wink Killian sighed and walked away. Regina started walking away bumping the table with her hip and knocking Lyric's chocolate milk into her lap. Will stood up.
"Christ Regina can you just try not to be such a bitch?" He asked
"I tried, I didn't like it much." Regina smiled. Will grabbed some napkins off the table and started helping Lyric dry her pants off.
"You okay love?" He asked. Lyric was quiet she pushed Wills hand away and stood up from the table picking her things up and walking out of the cafeteria as quickly as she could trying to ignore the whispers from the other students as she passed. She walked into the girls bathroom and tired to use the air dryer to dry her pants. She pulled her phone out of her pocket and dialed her Dad.
"Hey, Whats up kid?" Darren asked as he answered the phone.
"Come get me." She said.
"Honey I'm at work."
"So leave. Come get me." Lyric repeated.
"What about the rest of your classes? Are you sick?" He asked. Lyric broke down into tears
"Daddy please just come get me." She sobbed into the phone.
"Okay, calm down I'll be right there." He said. Lyric hung up the phone and pressed her back into the wall and slid down until she was sitting on the floor. She pulled her knees up and rested her forehead on her knees crying.
