Chapter Twenty eight: At last.
Playlist: If I can't have you by Shawn Mendez.
He lied.
He wasn't coming. It's been almost an hour now and he's still not here. I hugged myself, as it was starting to get chilly. Sighing, I decided that I would wait. I would sit here and wait for him. I checked my phone to see if he left any messages but he didn't. He didn't even look at me in school today.
And that was enough reason to doubt him showing up. I kept my hopes sky high. He would come. I hope...
Ah geez. I should have put on a coat, or something. It would start to snow pretty soon. I exhaled, rubbing my arms trying to generate a little heat.
I checked my phone again.
Hey, where are you? I have lots of detes from my date with Asher. ~~ skye👅
Can't wait to hear it! But later. Is that cool?
Sure! See ya then !
Yeah, Bye.
I dug my phone into the front left side pocket, of the black jeans I was wearing. I sure picked the wrong day to wear a chess themed little top.
Aaron, where are you?
I played a game. No sigh of Aaron. People were already starting to disperse from the park, as snow starting falling gently. I've never been out when it snow's before.
I starred up into the sky. I kinda liked it. But I won't like this cold I'm definitely going to catch.
" Elle! "
Only one person calls me Elle...
I snapped my head forward. Aaron. He came! He really came! The biggest grin ever spread across my face.
I stood up from the bench I was sitting on and hurriedly walked towards him. He bended over panting heavily, and sweating even though it was snowing.
" Did you run here? " I asked him.
"Car, tyre, deflated. "
Oh. I nodded. He stood up straight after a minute of catching his breath. " I'm so sorry I came late. My phone died, so I couldn't call either. "
" No worries. " I beamed. " I'm just glad you came. "
"Oh, you must be freezing. Here. " He handed me his brown cargo jacket.
"Thanks. " I smiled gratefully, slipping it into my body. Vanilla and old spice. I missed that freaking scent!
Great. Now, I have something else to obsess over other than his hoodie...
"So, why did you call me here? " He asked as we began walking.
I inhaled deeply then exhaled. "Uh, I wanted to see you. "
" What for? You know we shouldn't be seen together. " He rubbed his arms together. The tip of his nose was a tad red already.
" I wanted to talk to you. " I answered.
"I'm right here. " He glanced at me. " What do you wanna talk about? "
I licked my lips. This was so much harder than I thought. "Well, I, I just wanted to say that.. What I'm trying to say is, Uh, "
"Is what, Elle? Just say it. " We had stopped walking now, as he had also turned to face me.
Can I say it? How do I put my feelings into words? God, I thought this would be easy. It sure as hell isn't. I can't. I just can't.
" Nothing. It's nothing. "
" So, you just called me to what? Joke around or something? Or was this just prank?" He crossed his arms.
"What no. Really. I didn't call you for that. I swear. Why would you even think of something like that? "
" Then, why did you call?! " He asked, frustrated.
" I, uh, I----"
"That's what I thought. You're back to always toying with people. It's like you most especially enjoy toying with me. "
"Aaron, don't say that. Please don't say that. That's not true. " I pleaded.
" You've done it before. What would it take for you to do it again? " He shook his head. " Keep the jacket. " He muttered before turning to leave.
I can't let him leave. I can't. I refuse to lose him again. What should I do?... Right! Music brought us into this mess, and music is getting us out of it.
" I can't write one song that's not about you. Can't sleep without thinking about you. Is it too late, to tell you that everything means nothing if I can't have you? " He stopped as soon as he heard me sing those words.
I smiled and continued singing. "I'm in Toronto and I got this view, but I might as well be in a hotel room, yeah. " I continued as he turned around. " it doesn't matter, cause I'm so consumed spending all my nights, reading texts from you. " He crossed his arms, with the slightest smile on his face, as he watched me.
" Oh, I'm good at keeping my distance, I know that you're the feeling I'm missing. You know that I hate to admit it, but everything means nothing if I can't have you. I'm trying to move on, forget you, but I hold on. Everything means nothing, Everything means nothing if I can't have you. " As I sang, I walked slowly closer to him.
" I can't write one song, that's not about you. Can't sleep without thinking about you. Is it too late, to tell you that everything means nothing if I can't have you? "
I placed my hand on his cheek, smiling. " Do you get it now? I don't think I can live right without you. " I admitted.
" I know. Just wanted you to say it. " He chuckled.
I smacked his arm, as I pouted playfully. " Jerk. "
He laughed a little, then stopped. Cupping my cheek, he leaned in closer to me. His nose already touching mine. " I love you, Elle. So frigging much. "
I smashed my lips with his. With the snow falling, our kiss was even more romantic. I wrapped my arms around his neck and stood on my tippy toes. I really need to get taller.
His hands moved to my waist and he wrapped his hands around it. I missed this. The sweet feeling I got, the butterflies that erupts in my stomach, the feel of his soft lips on mine. I missed them all.
I was just about to deepen the kiss, when he slowly pulled away. I mumbled a groan.
" Seriously? "
" It's freezing, Elle. " He chucked. " Come on. " He said grabbing my hand and intertwining our fingers. He lifted my hand and placed a gentle kiss on it.
I sent him a toothy smile. " I missed you, so much. I missed you so much, it's hurts. "
" I'm here. I'm here now. And I'm not going anywhere. " Then he looked like he remembered something. " Oh, shit. What about your band? "
" I quit my band, Aaron. "
" What!? Why would you do something like that?" He yelled and stopped moving, making me stop as well.
" You are so worth it. I love my band, but like I said, I can't live right without you. " My God, I'm a smiling disaster.
He was all beams as he looked at me. " Now, I feel bad. I know how much your band meant to you. And, you quit because of me. Kinda like its my fault. "
I sighed. Leaning upwards, I placed a soft kiss on his lips. " If you don't shut up, you're never getting any of those again. "
He instantly pulled his lips into a tight line. And made a zipping sigh with his fee hand. I chuckled.
" Aaron, we'll always be together, right? "
He didn't answer me. I looked up at him.
" You may speak now. " I giggled.
" Thanks. And of course we'll always be together. I promise. " I smiled sheepishly.
" But this doesn't make us friends or anything, just so you know. " I laughed as I remembered the very familiar phrase I always said to him.
" Don't worry, I know. "
•••••••
That's it. That's the end of music and snow. I kinds feel bad it's ending, but of course if you have any requests for bonus chapters, then feel free to write it down in the comment box. I have ideas for bonus chapters anyway.
And yes, you're getting an epilogue. Well, it's been fun. Sorry to say, but this gal's done.
Thanks for reading!
