37. Fools And Fight-Pickers
*the following Monday*
"The only well-known university in the Beanbean Kingdom is the Woohoo Hooniversity, which is also one of the best universities in the world," Mr. Shy Guy lectured.
"Ugh, History class is so boring," Peach whispered to Toadette.
"They find it fun," Toadette whispered, glancing at Dixie and Waluigi. "Now, be quiet- this might be on the exam."
Dixie was taking pictures of the teacher, putting funny captions, and posting them on Snapbell. She was showing them to Waluigi and the two couldn't stop laughing. Finally, Mr. Shy Guy got annoyed with them.
"Dixie and Waluigi," he said. "If you want to continue laughing about irrelevant matters, please leave the room."
Dixie and Waluigi shrugged and left the classroom. Mr. Shy Guy gave them detention slips on their way out.
"Now," Mr. Shy Guy started. "The Beanbean Kingdom, like the Mushroom Kingdom, has a market-based economy..."
*at lunch*
"Oh! Thanks, Peachy!" Dixie exclaimed.
"Yeah, I owe you," Toadette said.
"No, you don't," Peach smiled. "I ordered chicken caesar salads for all of us. Plus, I got smoothies."
Peach got a strawberry smoothie for herself, a banana smoothie for Dixie, and a mango smoothie for Toadette. She had ordered the food and drinks at the beginning of the day from a health nut resaurant called The Tanooki Leaf.
"This so good," Dixie dug into her salad. "I almost feel sorry for everyone else who's eating the school lunch."
Meanwhile at the unpopulars' table, Daisy was getting annoyed with Peach and her wannabes.
"They're such try-hards," she said. "And they certainly aren't genuine health nuts, I know that much."
"Are you jealous?" Luigi raised an eyebrow.
"No way, why would I be jealous of those plastic dolls?" Daisy playfully shoved Luigi.
"Hey, Toadette isn't a plastic doll," Toad stated.
"I agree, she isn't... When she's with you," Rosalina pointed out. "Haven't you noticed that the way she is with you is different than the way she is with her friends?"
"That's true..." Toad murmured. "When it's just the two of us, it almost seems like she's part of our group."
"Well, she has had many opportunities to join us already," Birdo stated. "I think she'd rather stay with them. I can't believe I was once part of that clan of spoiled brats."
"Mario was a try-hard," Boo added. "Look at him now."
"Guys, cheer up," Yoshi said. "The burger today is actually not bad."
*at dismissal*
"Wanna go to my house?" Rosalina asked Luigi, Yoshi, and Toad. "We miraculously don't have homework today anyways."
"Sure!" Yoshi answered.
"I have basketball practice today," Luigi stated. "Sorry."
"Same," Toad said.
"Oh, that's fine. I can wait for both of you," Rosalina assured. "Can you, Yosh?"
"Yeah," Yoshi responded.
"Well, I have to go now," Luigi zipped his backpack and picked it up from the floor. "Are you two gonna watch the practice?"
"We will," Yoshi replied. He and Rosalina followed Luigi and Toad to the location of his practice.
When they reached the gym, Luigi and Toad separated from Yoshi and Rosalina, who bumped into a familiar face shortly after Luigi left.
"Mario?" Rosalina said. "What are you doing here?"
"I have to wait for MY friends because we're gonna hang out after this practice," Mario responded coolly. "Since when did you care?"
"We don't care at all. We just wanted to know if your mind is still nothing but a mere vegetable," Rosalina shot back. "And obviously, the answer is yes."
"Let's go sit down," Yoshi quietly suggested to Rosalina. He wasn't in the mood to argue with Mario.
"Fine," Rosalina replied. The two friends headed to the bleachers.
"Yoshi," Mario called from behind them. "I hope you know that you're a big-time coward and you've been one ever since I met you in fourth grade. Because of that fact, I've always found it hard to tolerate you!"
"Don't mind him, Yosh," Rosalina whispered. "He's just desperate to have another fight." But, Yoshi ignored Toad and turned around.
"I'm not a coward- I just don't like to pick fights," was all Yoshi said before turning away again and sitting down on the bleachers with Rosalina.
"So, are we just supposed to watch this?" Rosalina questioned.
"Umm, I guess so," Yoshi shrugged.
The practice started and the two friends observed it.
Yoshi noticed that Luigi was probably the best shooter in the team, but his teammates didn't acknowledge that fact, except for Toad probably. He also noticed that in the few istances that Luigi missed a shot, the other people on the team either smiled or snickered. Yoshi saw that Toad got constantly pushed around by the populars.
Are all of the practices like this? Yoshi thought. Poor Weegee and Toad.
"How do Luigi and Toad tolerate all of the practices if these things happen all of the time?" Rosalina questioned as if she could read Yoshi's thoughts.
"That's what I'm trying to figure out," Yoshi answered. "By the way, how do you feel about the dance this Friday?"
"I want to say I'm excited, but I honestly have a feeling that something bad will happen," Rosalina admitted. "Something that involves the populars."
"Actually, I have that feeling too," Yoshi said. "But, we have to go."
"I know," Rosalina replied. "All we can do is hope for the best."
Okay this was just a filler chapter to prepare yourselves for the upcoming events. And I'm so sorry but I won't update this book in awhile because I have to focus on writing the new book I'm going to publish in a few days. The next chapter should be pretty exciting though. Btw Happy early New Year! I hope 2015 will be a great year for all of you. But ugh this break from school is going by way too quickly! Anyways please add, comment, vote, etc. Thanks!
