*a week later*

Dixie woke up at 9 am, just like she did on every Satirday morning. Except, there was something about today that didn't make the day an ordinary one. What happened on December 14? Dixie thought. She let the question slip away and went to eat breakfast. Dixie's parents were both at work, they had full-time jobs and Dixie was used to being home alone. Dixie walked around her backyard, eating a banana. She heard the snow crunch under her footsteps and could see her own breath. Suddenly, Dixie stumbled forward and almost fell. There was a lump on the ground that Dixie never knew was there. On other days, Dixie would just walk away and ignore its existence. But, memories flooded her mind as she realized what had happened exactly one year ago. Dixie ran upstairs and rummaged through a pile of clutter under her bed. She found what she was looking for- her 2012 calendar. A folded and wrinkled post-it was stuck on the date, Decmber 14. Dixie yanked it out and read it. "Thought we were meant to be" was what was written on the post-it. Exactly one year ago, on December 14, 2012, she and Diddy became a couple. They had been together for 6 months and had broken up 2 days after Dixie's birthday. Dixie remembered how she broke up with Diddy. 

*flashback*

Where is he? Dixie thought. She was looking for Diddy because she needed to break up with him. Dixie found her soon-to-be-ex-boyfriend at his locker. "Diddy, we need to talk," Dixie started dragging Diddy to the very end of the hallway. "What's wrong with you?" Dixie tried to be calm.

"Me? What's wrong with you?" Diddy replied coldly. "You never really loved me. Peach told me everything."

"You're the one who's secretly dating someone else!" Dixie snapped.

"Are you crazy? I'd never do that. You're such a bad liar," Diddy said. 

"You're the crazy one here! I loved you so much! And finding out your love was for someone else the day after my birthday was just..." Dixie couldn't complete her sentence. Her eyes welled up in sadness and anger.

"My love was for never for anyone but you! Just stop lying already and admit your defeat!" A crowd had already started to gather around Dixie and Diddy.

"You're such a liar. Not me. All I've been to you is honest!"

"You, Dixie, are the biggest faker I've ever met. Go away and bug someone else for a change."

"I'd be glad to! Consider us over!" Dixie stormed off.

*flashback over*

Dixie remembered coming home in tears shortly after the break-up at school. She remembered getting all the gifts from Diddy and burying them in her backyard. As a result, there was a lump in Dixie's backyard. At first, Dixie thought the idea of burying the things was an awesome one. Recently though, Dixie had started to regret burying Diddy's gifts and wished she had burned them like other girls would to their ex's gifts. Dixie decided to sleep again because she wanted today to pass as fast as possible.

*at Peach's house*

Unlike Dixie, the memory of Diddy and Dixie's breakup was still clear in Peach's mind. Why? Because Peach was secretly involved in it. The truth is, Diddy and Dixie really did love each other a lot and were very loyal to their relationship. Peach was responsible for breaking them up, but no one knew that.

*flashback*

It was decided. On this very day, Peach would begin her master plan to get Diddy and Dixie to hate each other. Because of how much Dixie loved Diddy, Dixie kind of ignored everything else, even her friends. Diddy was the only thing on her mind and it was pretty darn obvious. If this is what Dixie is like when she's in love, I don't want her to be in love ever again, Peach thought. Luckily, Peach quickly saw Donkey Kong in the hallway. Donkey Kong was Diddy's best friend, so Peach assumed he knew where DIddy was. "DK, do you know where Diddy is?" Peach asked.

Donkey Kong was completely unaware of what Peach was about to do and that's why he answered truthfully.

"He's in the gym," Donkey Kong answered.

"Thanks!" Peach went to her current destination. Inside the gym, Diddy was shooting hoops. Peach ducked as a basketball almost hit her face. Diddy saw Peach duck and ran to her. 

"Sorry," he apologized.

"It's fine," Peach said. "But, can you stop playing for a bit? I have something important to tell you."

"Ok. What do you have to tell me?" Diddy asked. Peach took a deep breath.

"Dixie doesn't really love you,"Peach replied.

"Of course she does!" Diddy said. "And I love her back. WHy do you think we've been together for so long already?"

"Dixie dating you was a prank. She was planning to date you for a long time, then dump you! She wanted to see how much you'd get hurt," Peach spilled.

"No way, dude."

"Firstly, don't call me 'dude'. And secondly, I wanted to tell you because she would never. You should break up with her as soon as possible, or else you will feel worse when she dumps you." That's when Diddy started believing Peach.

"You're not lying?" he asked nervously.

"Why would I lie about something like this?" Diddy sat down on a bench and stared up at the ceiling.

"I can't believe it," he muttered.

"Sorry, but I had to tell you. You don't deserve to be led by Dixie into whatever she'll do to make you feel bad. You're like her toy."

"Thanks for telling me, but can you please leave? I need to have some time alone."

"I understand," Peach left the gym, pleased with the success of the first part of her plan. When Peach arrived at home, she locked herself in her room with lots of food. Peach opened a bag of chips and ate them as she did part 2- the final part- of her plan. She texted Dixie:

Peach: Dixie!!! I have 2 tell u something super important! Pls reply!

Luckily, Dixie was using her phone at the moment.

Dixie: What???

Peach: U won't believe what I saw on the way home 2day.

Dixie: Omg, just tell me already! Did u see a colorful aztec phone case? That's toats what I want 4 Xmas!!! <3

Peach: No... I saw Diddy hanging out w/ another girl! They were toats flirting w/ each other!

Dixie: You're right. I don't believe that u actually saw tht. Diddy would never do tht, he promised.

Peach: I'm not lying.

Dixie: It could've been someone else tht looks like Diddy...

Peach: I'm 100% sure tht it was him!

Dixie: ...

Peach: Don't u get it? Diddy is secretly dating someone else!

Dixie: No way. Peach, we're besties and besties don't lie 2 each othr.

Peach: Dixie, I assure u I'm not lying. Diddy's love 4 u was fake! :(

Dixie: If you're not lying, then omg...

Peach: So sorry Dixie, but besties don't keep secrets from each othr.

Dixie: :( Diddy and I r so over.

Peach: It's toats not ur fault, Dixie. 

Dixie: Confronting him 2moro @ school.

Peach didn't feel the need to reply, so she didn't. Success! she thought with a smile.

*flashback over*

After Diddy and Dixie's breakup, Peach and Dixie made a promise to each other. Peach would help Dixie get her grades up (because Peach is very good at charming people, obviously) if Dixie stayed loyal to Peach for as long as their friendship lasted. Peach was able to make some of Dixie's grades at least a C-. And Dixie became so loyal to Peach that she literally became Peach's shadow. Dixie did whatever Peach did, said whatever Peach said, ate whatever Peach ate, and so on. Then, Peach's mind went back to breakups. I hope Yoshi and Birdo break up soon, Peach thought. Let the dork cry himself to sleep when he learns the truth.

*at Rosalina's house*

Yoshi: My lunch date w/ Birdo was awesome! :)

That was the most recent message on a group chat that consisted of Mario, Luigi, Daisy, Yoshi, Boo, and Rosalina. It would be a lie if Rosalina said that Yoshi and Birdo weren't a good couple. But, Rosalina knew something about Birdo that Yoshi didn't.

*flashback*

It was the night before the first day of 9th grade and Dixie, Toadette, Birdo, and Rosalina were all at Peach's house for a slumber party. The girls were playing Truth Or Dare at the moment. "Bow, truth or dare?" Peach asked.

"Hmm.... I'll be the first one to pick dare!" Birdo grinned. Peach's eyes widened and she whispered what she had in mind to Dixie, Toadette, and Rosalina. Dixie was snickering and Toadette looked worried. This is a bad idea, Rosalina thought as Peach told Birdo her dare.

"This is more of a bet than a dare. You have to ask Yoshi out-"

"Eww, why him?" Birdo interrupted.

"You have to ask Yoshi out and do anything you can for him to say yes. Date him for 2 months, then dump him," Peach said.

"That might ruin my rep, though!" Birdo complained.

"Whatever. I'm not done explaining your challenge. Please stop interrupting me," Peach replied.

"Fine," Birdo huffed.

"If you date him for more than 2 months, I'll give you 100 coins, Peach answered. Date him for less than 2 months and you have to pay me 100 coins. If you date him for exactly 2 months, neither of us have to pay anything," Peach explained.

"Deal!" Birdo smirked. "I honestly don't care about the money. I just can't wait to break that loser's heart!"

*flashback over*

The words "I just can't wait to break that loser's heart!" kept repeating in Rosalina's mind. It had been over 3 months and Birdo could dump Yoshi anytime now... Rosalina had to tell Yoshi! She grabbed her phone again and called Yoshi. "Yosh!" Rosalina exclaimed as soon as Yoshi picked up his phone.

"Chill, Rosie," Yoshi had no idea why Rosalina called him. "What's up?"

"Birdo doesn't genuinely love you!"

"Of course she does. How would you know, anyway?"

"On the day before the first day of this school year, Peach DARED Birdo to ask you out! That's why you two became a couple the day after."

"That's impossible to believe. I appreciate your creativity and imagination and all, but-"

"Please believe me, Yosh!"

"First of all, I still don't believe you. Second of all, I'm not mad at you. Third of all, I have to go eat dinner now, so I'll try to talk to you later," Yoshi hung up. Rosalina groaned and let herself fall backwards onto her bed. Yoshi didn't believe the truth and he'd soon be dumped like trash. But, Rosalina did what she could and didn't have control over what Yoshi believed.

3 flashbacks in this chapter. I hope you liked the length. Ik it's definitely not as long as the chapter before this one, but... Yeah. This is my first Wattpad update of 2014!
