12. Experiencing New Things
*two weeks later, last period*
"Here's our project," Daisy gave Mr. Bro the finished result of her and Peach's project. Mr. Bro glanced at it.
"It looks very well done," he said. "Good job, girls!"
"Daisy didn't do anything!" Peach told Mr. Bro. "I did everything, she didn't put in any effort!" What?! Daisy thought. I'm the one that did everything!
"Really?" Mr. Bro questioned. "That's quite unlike her."
"I'm not lying!" Peach replied, all innocent-like. Her charm convinced Mr. Bro.
"Well, then," Mr. Bro fixed a stack of papers. "You shall get detention, Daisy."
"What?!" Daisy's eyes widened. She had never gotten detention before. "Peach is the one that didn't do anything!"
"Nonsense!" the teacher raised his voice. "Peach is perfectly innocent. You have detention for a whole week!" He turned to Peach. "You get extra effort points."
"Thank you, Mr. Bro!" Peach grinned. Daisy sighed, figuring it was no use to fight back.
"Students, you may leave now," Mr. Bro announced. Everyone immediately stood up and rushed out. As Daisy was going to her locker, she had a flashback.
*flashback*
"Ok, then," Peach said. "Do it."
"What?" Daisy blinked.
"Do everything yourself. Do you really expect me to do anything?" Peach examined her manicured fingers.
"Well, yeah. Unless you want to fail," Daisy replied.
"Don't worry, I have my ways," Peach smirked. Daisy didn't know what Peach meant, so she just ignored the last statement.
*flashback over*
So, convincing the teacher that Daisy did nothing when it was the exact opposite was Peach's way of "having her way?" Daisy groaned. And just at that moment, Peach sashayed past the brunette, smirking at her. Daisy was on her way to the detention room when..
"So, the nerd's going to detention?" a familiar, but annoying voice came from behind her. Daisy didn't have to turn around to know it was Dixie, aka Peach's shadow.
"Your little monster friend in makeup got me in detention," Daisy muttered. Dixie's eyes widened.
"Who's she? Birdo? Toadette? Wait, she doesn't wear makeup. Oh my gosh, it's ME??? Does my little monster friend also like bananas?" the monkey began panicking. Daisy face-palmed.
"Peach, obviously," Daisy said. She couldn't believe how dumb Dixie could be sometimes. She felt bad for Peach that she had to deal with this nuisance every day. Dixie's eyes lit up.
"Oh, yeah! Peach told all the populars about her plan!" Dixie grinned. "Such a good one, isn't it?" Daisy didn't even bother answering that question.
"Can you go leave me alone now?" Daisy tried to ask as nicely as possible. She was tired of Dixie's annoyingness. But, Dixie ignored Daisy.
"I can't believe you're in detention! Detention is for DORKS!" Dixie laughed.
"And this is coming from the person who gets detention almost every week for the same reason," Daisy replied. Dixie's eyes widened as she realized that Daisy was right and she dashed off into the detention room. Daisy entered the detention room and five pairs of eyes turned to glance at her. Bowser forced Donkey Kong to do a prank on the nerds, so both of them got in trouble, Dixie was caught texting in class, and Wario and Waluigi just had bad behavior. Dixie, Wario, and Waluigi were almost always in detention. All of the five populars were both suprised and not surprised at the same time that a nerd was in detention. They had known about Peach's plan, as Dixie had told her. Daisy sighed and sat down in a desk as far away from the others as possible. She got out her phone to text Luigi.
Daisy: I'm in detention. :(
Almost immediately, there was a reply.
Luigi: Seriously??? Why?
Daisy: Peach.
Luigi: What about her?
Daisy: I did everything on the science project, yet Peach got all of the cred and Mr. Bro thought I didn't do anything because Peach told him she did everything! Now, Peach has extra effort points for something she didn't do! I can't believe she was ever my best friend!
Luigi: Aww, sorry about that. :(
Daisy got out her notebook and started her 1200-word essay on what a true friend is. There were 50 minutes left of detention, but it'd take her 1-2 hours to finish the whole essay. About 30 minutes later, Daisy was disturbed.
"Hey, hottie, wanna run away with me?" Waluigi said right into Daisy's ear, startling her. Waluigi was known to be a huge flirt, but had a soft spot for Daisy. Then, Daisy looked up at Waluigi like he was crazy.
"Go away," Daisy turned away from him. However, Waluigi didn't listen to her.
"Hey, honey, wanna run away with me?" he asked. This time, Daisy ignored him and continued her essay. "Hey, sweetie, wanna run away with me?" Every few minutes, Waluigi would say something to Daisy that was always the same, except he'd change the name. It became annoying right away.
"Hey, sugar, wanna run away with me?"
"Hey, gorgeous, wanna run away with me?"
"Hey, princess, wanna run away with me?"
"Hey, baby, wanna run away with me?"
"Hey, b-" The bell rang and Daisy quickly got out of the detention room. "Dang it!" Waluigi exclaimed.
*a few hours later*
"Are we there yet?" Yoshi asked. For about half an hour, he had been blindfolded because Birdo was taking him somewhere and it was a surprise.
"Almost," Birdo answered. Yoshi was wearing a scarf and Birdo was wearing earmuffs with her usual bow on top. "You can remove your blindfold now," Birdo told her boyfriend. Yoshi pulled his scarf down from his eyes and saw an empty indoor ice skating rink.
"Umm, what are we doing here?" Yoshi questioned.
"We're going ice skating, duh!" Birdo giggled. Yoshi's face turned pale.
"But, I don't know how to ice skate!" Yoshi exclaimed.
"I've been ice skating for, like, 8 years. I'll teach you," Birdo gave Yoshi a pair of ice skates that she had bought for him. She had been planning this event for about a week and she managed to reserve this rink for only she and Yoshi to use at this time. Yoshi was determined to impress his girlfriend, so he put on his skates and stepped onto the ice. But, he slipped and fell forward.
"Start slow," Birdo laughed as she stepped onto the ice without falling. Birdo stayed right in front of Yoshi as she taught him how to keep his balance. As they skated slowly, but steadily around the rink, Yoshi began to get the hang of it and slightly increased his speed. Birdo sped up, too, to match his speed. The green dinosaur was satisfied with his progress until he lost his balance and fell once again. Birdo helped Yoshi up and the couple continued skated together, talking and laughing. Birdo skated gracefully across the ice and did all sorts of spins and jumps without fail. Yoshi was very impressed and felt he had to impress her back. So, he skated towards Birdo, slightly faster than before and lifted her up above his head. "Yoshi, stop! That's an advanced move!" Birdo exclaimed. But, it was too late. Yoshi lost his balance under Birdo's weight and the two teens both fell to the ground. Yoshi's face turned red in embarrassment.
"Sorry, he mumbled.
"It's fine!" Birdo grinned, standing up. She had looked forward to this date for so long and she wouldn't let anything ruin her mood. The couple continued skating in a comfortable silence. As Birdo skated, she took the time to think.
*flashback*
"Hey, Yoshi!" Birdo called.
"H-hey," Yoshi stuttered, unsure why a popular girl was talking to him.
"Wanna go out to dinner with me tonight?" Birdo asked in a flirty way.
"Umm, s-sure," Yoshi replied.
"Kay-kay, I'll meet ya at Flipswitch Felix at 6!" Birdo winked and gave him a kiss on the cheek, making Yoshi turn as red as the bow on Birdo's head.
*flashback over*
Birdo was known for being a flirt... But, ever since she and Yoshi got together, Birdo had never been that flirty to anyone, not even Yoshi himself! Birdo had never insulted Yoshi or his friends ever since she and Yoshi became a couple. Birdo never even talked about them behind their backs... Birdo realized what was happening. She was changing... For the good. Having a nerd as a boyfriend wasn't so bad, it made her like a nerd, which wasn't a bad thing. For instance, normally, if Birdo saw Yoshi fall, she'd laugh and go away. But, she went to help him up instead. Most populars would freak out and become worried that they'd turn into a loser if they were Birdo. But, Birdo realized that... There's no such thing as a loser. People are just judged and are the judge. As Peach had told her once, "Be the judge or be judged". You know what? Birdo thought. Everyone should be treated equally. Birdo loved Yoshi and she loved that being around him had influenced her. However, Birdo knew that if she told her friends her opinion, they'd ditch her and tell her to join the nerds. Birdo actually wanted to join the nerds, but one thing was holding her back- she didn't want to be bullied. She wasn't like Rosalina, who wasn't afraid to stand up for herself and had already experienced being bullied. Birdo was always at the top of the social standings, even in elementary school. Rosalina wasn't afraid to leave the populars. But, Birdo was. She was scared... Of things being done to her that she had done to others.
I think this is the longest chapter so far! Dixie makes me laugh. Expect some silly or weird moments with her in the future. Idk when I'll be able to update cuz next week I'll be out of town and I might not have time to update. I think I'll be back around Nov. 10...? Well if you see an update in the next three weeks be thankful. Also remember when Waluigi said, "Hey, b-"? He was cut off by the bell. What do you think he was gonna call Daisy this time? You'll find out... Many chappies from from now! Tee hee. Oh yeah and the song in the multimedia represents Birdo and Yoshi's relationship from Yoshi's POV in my opinion. I suggest you listen to it. Anyways pls add, comment, vote, etc. Thanks!
