Exhibit A - Castle Of Glass Bruce
So I know Z summarizes the character versions in about four or five words that she uses as the title. I will try and do the same for this Bruce. This is the Happily Married but Annoyed-by-the-press Bruce.
Yes fyi, annoyed-by-the-press counts as a single word to me. No objections on this topic will be entertained.
Portrayed by: Richard Madden
Background: Lost his parents at an early age, vowed to protect his city, and became Batman. He adopted Richard Grayson (our eldest bro) and then the rest of us while Dami dropped on him like an unexpected bomb. When things were finally settled in his life, he got married to Calmia Hardin who we are told is the love of his life in this story.
Alias: Batman
Age: 35 onwards
Current Status: Alive
Eye color: Pale Blue
Hair color and type: Jet Black hair, slightly greying from the temples (in other words, this Bruce is about to hit old age, oh wait, he's 35... Still about to hit old age in my opinion).
Skin color: Fair
Height: 6'2" (damn, he's tall)
Love Interest: Calmia Hardin (wife). Honestly my favorite character in the entire book which makes me worried to think that Z might end up killing her... Wait no, that's not a spoiler, of course not! She didn't tell me what happens in the end. I'm sure I'll squeeze it out of her eventually but I have no idea what happens in the end as of now.
Hobbies: Swimming, playing the piano, being overly protective over his Batmobile, spoiling Damian because, for some goddamn reason, he's the favorite child in this story and not me... I don't think any other hobbies were mentioned in the story for as long as I have read it.
Personality: Now I am no psychoanalyst but I am having fun most with observing and explaining the different personality traits. This Bruce Wayne must have been a treat to write for Zenina, I can tell because right now she is making everything very wholesome but unfortunately, I know her too well. She snatches the rug from under us poor readers' feet when we least expect it. So I feel like it is going to be just like that in this story too.
Anyhow, let's get to business and the reason why you all are still listening to me. The prominent personality facts about him are as follows:
• This Bruce gets married and has a healthy relationship with his wife (that's the most prominent trait in this story so far). That means he finally finds a love of his life that he thinks is plausible to settle down with and decides to marry her regardless of the whole vigilante drama that had stopped him from getting involved in serious relationships earlier. Good for him, you go Bruce from CoG!
• He is said to be not verbally expressive and maintains an emotionless facial expression almost all the time (kinda like our Bruce).
• But this Bruce (unlike ours) is very adorable in love. He proposed to Miss Calmia in her favorite restaurant and proceeds to marry her at a special gathering where no press is allowed.
• Speaking of the press, that is one thing I loved about the story. The press articles included within are hilarious and give a near-accurate glimpse into how nosy the Gotham Press can be. (Yeah I know this is not a Bruce point but whatever).
• Apparently, this Bruce doesn't care about any risks as long as he is with the people he loves. (I am looking at you, Z, let him be with the people he loves and don't mess anything up for him, please).
• His favorite son is Damian... The absolute horror, I couldn't believe that when I read it. I even got really insecure too and kept checking to see if I am the favorite for our Bruce or not, thankfully I keep that position irl.
• He avoids confrontations. He will do anything possible to avoid being confronted by people he cares about and that sometimes gives off the impression that he is indifferent (which he is not!) but well...
• Apparently, the color yellow gives him nightmares because it reminds him of the Discowing suit (and for good reason, that suit lives in infamy in every universe according to one very loyal reader).
• He is trying to be a good father as well as a good husband and I am giving him bonus points for all the effort he puts in the story. Seriously, our Bruce should take lessons from him...
No wait...
Zen is laughing her head off, maybe our Bruce shouldn't take lessons because I can tell this is her evil author laugh and she's planning to do something horrible to this version of Bruce.
Oh no, she's blasting Anti-Hero by Taylor Swift in the background. Please ignore her, this is my book and she's not allowed to steal the spotlight from me. (You hear that, Zen? Go back to writing more stories to break more hearts and leave me and my little entourage alone).
• Also this Bruce apparently has problems communicating things with people he actually cares about. But I am very happy that he decides on being honest to avoid problems that might spring up in the future.
• He can't cook. The most he can do is make breakfast or make a salad.
• He's very competitive and even though he might now show it, he gets jealous easily (sounds familiar to me too). Oh, now I see where Damian got his habits from... Sorry not sorry, B.
• He's scared of Calmia. Yeah I know it's not mentioned in the book but I am calling it right here, he's definitely scared of her but like in the way of what she will think, whether he's fulfilling his role well, etc. The overthinking kind of scared.
• Aaaand he's a romantic, bet none of us saw that coming. But him being romantic is so wholesome.
• He actually gives in to his family cooking up a ruckus and it's an adorable sight to see. Unlike our Bruce who ignores us even if we pull out the craziest of shit at him. He has just gotten too used to it.
• I have a lot more things to say about his personality but Zen says it will all act as spoilers so let's bring our informative discussion to a conclusion for this exhibit.
Theme Song: Castle of Glass by Linkin Park
And no, this is not me suggesting the song, the author herself wrote down theme songs for all these exhibits. but now I am having second thoughts about this entire fanfic.
Don't get me wrong, there's nothing bad about the song selection. I love Linkin Park and especially this song but the lyrics warn me that something foreboding is to come.
I am the only crack in this castle of glass... Sounds like a very me thing to say anyway but let's move on to the other exhibits.
