The Person in the Room
After the unplanned murder, Will had to decide what to do. He could either turn himself in, or clean up any evidence and leave. He chose his favorite option. Clean up the mess, and then leave like he wasn't there. He would have do do a major clean up though. As Will started to clean up, he noticed something in the dining room by the door. It was on top of a small countertop by some chairs. It was a small stone the size of his thumbnail. It wasn't very interesting except for the fact that it was blue and had strange red rings around it. He had seen it before. Somewhere.
"What are you doing in my house?," a voice said. Will very nearly jumped out of his shoes. He pulled his gun and raised it, ready to eliminate the danger. The voice had come from around a corner.
"Who's here?" Will inquired.
"Someone," came the sarcastic response. "I suggest you put the gun down so nobody gets hurt here. Also, put my rock down." The voice was that of a girl Will guessed. He lowered his gun.
"Back up ten steps. Then tell me when you're done with that task." Will backed up exactly ten steps. The girl came around the corner and looked at him, square in the eye.
"You're shorter than I remember," the girl said.
"Excuse me, when did we meet?" Will was genuinely confused.
"The last time you tried to kill me, and I kicked your butt."
"Oh yeah,"Will was a little less confused, "When was that anyway?"
"It was a while back, three, four maybe even five years ago," she responded. She had a look in her eye that was like she was there, reliving the happy times of kicking his butt when he tried to murder her for...why? Will had no recollection of her.
"It was the rock. Remember?" Will remembered now. He had found it while searching her house. It was special in some way.
"Well, this conversation got kind of awkward," she said, "it would be nice of you to leave now." It was more of a command than a suggestion.
Will retreated out the door. He started at a brisk walk towards his house. He would have nothing to do with her. He wanted to be alone. Will preferred it that way. Alone, in darkness. Waiting to pounce.
