As soon as we arrived, they showed us where we would be staying. There were several wings in the station (civilian accommodation, military accommodation, research wing, residential wing, etc.). We were taken to the civilian accommodation area. I was seated next to the biologist couple, Ema and Carlos.Three other scientists were already in the area: Inês, Ernani and Humberto.

     The admiral, like a true host, decided to keep us company and sleep in the civilian area, dispensing with the accommodation he had been assigned in the military area. Human warmth was vitally important, according to his ironic and literal statement.
