SYNOPSIS!

𝒐𝒐𝒐.  SERAPHINA MORTICIA KELLS, A CRIMINAL AT SIXTEEN!

Her middle name meant death and she'd seen enough of it in the first wizarding war. As a bright Hufflepuff, Seraphina had been optimistic throughout, her optimistic view on things could not have been dimmed by a dark force like war. The word left a bitter taste in her mouth, this wasn't a war. They were no match for Voldemort's army, not in the least. A massacre, that's what this was.

𝒐𝒐𝒐.  THE SYSTEM IS FUCKED!

Persecuting someone on the basis of their blood status felt vile to Seraphina. She'd believed good would be able to overpower evil, like it always does. She laughs at her naiveness, there are no such things as good or evil. Not anymore. Good people do not go to prison, good people do not spend the entirety of their youth locked in a cell, good people don't exist. She'd accepted that the minute her mother's head hit the ground. She'd accepted it when her father slumped over. She'd accepted it when her sister was defiled in front of her. She'd accepted it when that same sister bled out in her arms. Good people were a myth and so was the old seraphina kells.

𝒐𝒐𝒐.  BLACK WAS A KILLER!

He'd practically killed his best friend. He'd doomed his godson to grow up in a vile household, unloved. He'd caused his other best mate to live the rest of his youth, alone without his friends to comfort him. He'd doomed himself to spend the rest of his miserable life staring at the walls of the cells in Azkaban. All because he had the clever idea to face the treacherous rat on his own rather than go straight to the ministry. He was an idiot, and now he'd live his life in guilt and sorrow, throwing pity parties for himself until the day he shrivelled up and died.

𝒐𝒐𝒐. AZKABAN IS SHITTY! 

The bars were far apart, the ground was dirty, there were no uniforms given to the prisoners or good food. On his first night, Sirius noticed a hole in the wall. It was big enough to reach his hand into the next cell. When the inmate next to his cell yelled something at the guards who brought him to his cell, Sirius couldn't believe his ears. Seraphina Kells?  Years pass and it gets harder and harder to stay sane. Sirius makes it easier though. He keeps her sane. She keeps him alive. Sometimes he slips her hand into hers through the hole in the wall, and suddenly Azkaban is considerably less shitty than it was before.

PROLOGUE I WROTE!

𝓣he Kells house lay right on the edge of their town in Cornwall. There was a slight chill in the air, and a sparse breeze. A woman stood outside tending to the garden. She handled the plants with care, every step she took burst with grace and poise. With a small smile, she used a sharp dagger to cut scattered weeds. The door to the house opened and a girl no more than sixteen stumbled out towards her sister.

"Careful Seph, I'm holding a dagger." The woman laughed as her sister toppled over her.

"Sorry." Seraphina sits up and blows a strand of her hair out of her face. "Mum says to come inside since it's getting dark and that supper's nearly ready."

"I'll be right inside." Kaitlyn grinned up at her little sister and turning back to start cleaning up.

Seraphina hadn't stepped a foot inside the house when Kaitlyn called her name.

"Could you please put this one with the others?"

Kaitlyn had a particular affinity for gardening, and she was amazing at it too. No one could garden like Seraphina's older sister. Unlike most, Kaitlyn used a set of sharp daggers to cut weeds and dead plants. Mrs Kells had tried numerous times to get Kaitlyn to use proper tools but the nineteen-year-old insisted on using her collection of antique daggers.

Seraphina had never understood why her sister had such a morbid hobby but she had to admit, Kaitlyn's daggers were gorgeous. It seemed like a crime to use them for cutting weeds. No, these dirks, had other purposes. Seraphina didn't know what the purpose was but she could feel it wasn't for gardening. Each with their shiny white handles, decorated with jade stones and golden leaves. They shined under the moonlight, reflecting her face in the blade. Seraphina glanced at her reflection, it made her uncomfortable for reasons she did not know, the young girl sheathed the dagger and hurried to put it away.

Cleo kells stood in the kitchen preparing a special salad. Seraphina took her usual seat at the table, next to her father who was already seated, reading the newspaper for the third time that day. It was moments like these that Seraphina realised how easy everything would be if her entire family had magic like her, her mother wouldn't have to start preparing dinner an hour early as she does now. Seraphina glances at the window and sees their neighbour's pots bobbing in the air, not an unusual sight for the wizarding community her family lived in.

Originally, Seraphina had been ecstatic, she'd finally be able to fit in with people like her, people with magic. Now? Living in a wizarding community with her muggle family seemed somewhat embarrassing. Her family seemed so ordinary compared to everyone else. She didn't mean to seem ungrateful, she loves her family but she just wishes that they were like her. Then maybe they'd understand her better. She feels guilt engulf her as soon as the thought crosses her mind. No, I love my family just the way they are. What scared her most was how she didn't know if she was trying to convince herself or establishing a fact.

She shook her head and placed a grin on her face, fake as always.

They'd moved to the living room to have dessert. Soft laughter echoed through the house. Nathaniel kells had started narrating a story from his childhood, his daughters sitting on the floor, Cleo on the couch right next to him with her head on his shoulder. The kells family has always adored winter, the cold never seemed to bother them. They basked in it so it was no surprise that the window had been opened. The soft breeze wafted into the room, blowing at Seraphina's face and travelling back outside, taking all of her negative thoughts with it. She was sure now, She loved her family just as they were. But alas, her realisation had come a little too late.

The door to the kells house blasted open, a group of men rushing inside, destroying everything in sight and with it, obliterating every piece of Seraphina Kells soul
































NOTES!

i. okay so seraphina's a Hufflepuff who's extremely optimistic and she's muggle born but her family decided to live in a wizard community to make sure seraphina didn't feel left out. even during the war, she's only sixteen but she's optimistic because good always wins, right? unfortunately for baby seraphina, her family being muggle stands out in a wizarding community like a sore thumb , making them a target for death eater attacks. so basically the day i mentioned in the prologue is the day that death eaters break into their house at night and kill he entire family. here's how it goes, they break the door down and seraphina's father rushes to distract them and stall them so his family gets out but kaitlyn knows there isn't enough time and she shoves seraphina into a cupboard in the living room and faces the death eaters herself. their parents have already died, and it was too quick for the leader, hector lestrange ( he's a character i made to fit the storyline) and lestrange decided that he wants to take his time with kaitlyn now keep in mind kaitlyn is defenceless, she is a muggle and cant do anything to stop them. hector rapes her and tortures her for what feels like hours but it's only fifteen minutes and then he leaves her to bleed out. all while seraphina is watching through a crack in the cupboard, her wand somewhere in the kitchen room faraway and she is frozen, seraphina's body has gone into shock and she cannot move nor is she able to save her sister from this terrible fate. after everyone is gone kaitlyn calls out for her and seraphina holds her sister's naked body close while she dies and she has to bury her entire family all by herself.

ii. this sixteen year old happy girl has gone through something so traumatic that it turns her into something worse. she swears on her family's graves that she'll get revenge and she does exactly that. seraphina's on the run since the ministry is full of shits that can't do their jobs and have arrested more innocent than guilty ( ex. sirius black who by the way was already arrested a month prior). seraphina watches hector lestrange for days, she observes his daily routine and then one day when she knows he'll just be getting back from work she waits for him and brutally murders him and by brutal i mean brutal, like guts spilling, multiple body parts scattered on the floor brutal. she cleans up after herself so well that no one even knows hector's dead ( he's presumed dead after a few months of missing posters), after killing him and cleaning up, seraphina goes to her sister's grave and wipes her hands on her grave which had hector's blood on them. That's when the ministry officials find her, and they send her to azkaban, they don't bother checking whose blood she had on her clothes because like i said shitty ass police work.

iii. that's how seraphina ends up in the cell next to sirius. he recognizes her as a student a few years below him and she recognizes him as the popular playboy senior who was disowned by his family. sirius asks her what she's doing there but she doesn't tell him until a few days later, she stays silent for her first few days, just staring. and a few months later they'd discovered a small hole in the walls ( told you azkaban was shitty ) and they both are in prison isolated so they hold hands whenever they can because they crave warmth, the need for human touch to remind them that they're human you know?

iv. fast forward to chamber of secrets when seraphina's released because one kind hearted ministry official compiled a case confirming that seraphina is in fact innocent and she did not kill her family ( this ministry official remembers seraphina as one of her daughter's friends and decided to help her in her dead daughter's memory ) , seraphina is given a shit load of money from the ministry as if it could make up for them throwing her in prison for eleven years and paired with the money from her parent's investment in a muggle company called apple ( ??? a weird name for a company ) all in all, seraphina kells was filthy rich. so she didn't need a high paying job and got a job at the bookstore in diagon alley ( where she meets loads of the Hogwarts students including the trio but only in passing ), she also spoils herself by buying expensive ass shit and an expensive apartment because the money from apple was gonna keep coming in so why not?

v. in poa after sirius escapes on buckbeak, he heads to seraphina's apartment because he knew she'd help ( he knew where she lived because he'd looked her up after he'd escaped like he did harry ) seraphina had already had aurors do a search of her apartment because she was in the cell next to him and it took her a week to get the aurors off her ass, she had to pull the 'you fuckers put me in jail for eleven years even though i was innocent' card. She was thankful sirius didn't show up earlier, sirius lives with her for a few months and you decide from here what happens next in of and ootp like do they get together during those few months before he goes back on the run or do they get together in grimmauld? totally up to you.

vi. Seraphina is 16 when she goes to azkaban and sirius is 18. you do the math.

vii. as for ootp, seraphina is a first time member but she bonds with remus and sirius ( well bonds even more with sirius) because she was affected by the first war too and was around their age at the time too so they could relate with eachother.

viii. the ministry official that helped seraphina should be a consistent character! her name is mrs becks ( u choose a first name) and her deceased daughter was January becks who used to be seraphina's best friend. january died a few months after seraphina went to prison, cause of death was cancer. january wrote a letter to seraphina that mrs becks gives her afters she's released. the letter explains why January didn't tell seraphina about her sickness sooner and how January swear she'll get seraphina out of prison soon. the letter should be sad but should contain few quips about January being bald now and how she's still the prettier one and seraphina cries afterwards, like body wracking sobs and screaming kinda crying because January was her best friend of six years, they were practically sisters. the letter is framed and hung in her apartment next to a few picture of seraphina with her family and january.
