Chapter 7 - Divorce?

Sorry for the super delayed update! Hope I made it up through this! Don't forget to leave your comments behind, will be waiting for them!

Shivaay and Annika went out on 'Trick or Treat' with Ansh as the little kid insisted upon it while Rudy stayed back to entertain the children that would be knocking on their door. He had put on a Grim Repear costume and excitedly waited by the door for the kids to come by.

"Mumma, this is so exciting!" Ansh squealed as he took her hand in his and grabbed Shivaay's hand in the other.

"Yes, Ansh! This is exciting! Are you ready for your first house?" Annika exclaimed.

"Mumma, wait for Pia please!"

"Who is Pia?" Shivaay questioned.

"Pia is my girlfriend Papa!" Ansh smiled.

"How come you never told me about her?"

"She just shifted from India. She's very pretty Papa!" Ansh exclaimed.

"Our future daughter-in-law!" Annika muttered under her breath. Though Shivaay was standing away from her, he still heard what she said.

"Shut up, Annika!" Shivaay harshly whispered to her.

Just then, Pia had walked out of her house, looking extremely cute in her Harley Quinn costume.

"Oh my God! You dressed up like Joker! PUDDIN!" She squealed and jumped on him, pulling him into a hug.

Ansh shyly hugged her back and they went for 'Trick or Treat' together, leaving Shivaay and Annika behind.

"Ansh!" They called out to their son as he happily skipped through the streets while holding Pia's hand. Ansh didn't even bother to turn to look at his parents. He had simply waved them goodbye and went off with Pia.

"Looks like it's just us today, Batman!" Annika smirked as she tried to look alluring to him.

Shivaay plainly ignored her and walked away. He didn't had the leisure nor the words to argue with her. Regardless of what he would say, she definitely would reckon his words the other way around. Besides, Ansh was his priority at the moment. He is very well aware of how Ansh is good at hiding his feelings from everyone. He might appear all cheerful and happy, but deep down, he must be terribly hurt after discovering the fact that he was an unwanted child by his own mother.

"How long are we going to stay apart like this?" Annika brought back Shivaay to reality from the train of thoughts he was losing himself to.

"You're asking this to me?" Shivaay questioned her as a humourless chuckle escaped from him.

"Shivaay, can't we at least be together for Ansh's sake? I really want to be there for him. He's my son too! I agree that I did mistakes in the past..."

"Annika, please! This isn't the place nor the time to talk about us. Can you just hold your horses till tonight? We shall talk once we get back. I've had a long day and I really need a break from you!" Shivaay gritted as he walked away from her.

Annika fanned herself with her right hand as her left was resting on her waist. She was trying her level best to not break down in the middle of a street during Halloween. It would be horribly embarrassing. Still, a traitorous drop of tear rolled down her cheeks and it took only a second after that for her to give in to the melancholy inside her. She rushed away from the view of everyone to an isolated alley as she let her feelings pour out.

"Stop crying Annika. You deserve this! You did this to yourself! Stop crying!" She repeated as she vigorously wiped the tears of her face.

"Papa, where's Mumma?" Ansh questioned his father when he returned with a bucket full of candies to find only Batman standing there with no trace of Catwoman anywhere.

"She'll be around here somewhere and she knows the way back to home. Shall we go first?"

"But, without Mumma? Let her come first, na!"

Having no other option but to comply to his son, who had clearly pulled his puppy face at the right time, Shivaay agreed to wait and look around for her. Just then, Annika came there, looking all gloomy and upset. Ansh was excited upon seeing his mother and ran towards her.

"Mumma, look I got a bucket full of sweets! And you know what? Pia got lesser sweets. She became

"Waaah! My lil boy is amazing! Shall we go back home, now? It's getting late. Plus we need to see how your Rudy Chachu's scaring game went on, right?"

"Yes Mumma!" Ansh exhilarated and began to skip his step towards their home while Shivaay and Annika tailed behind him yet again.

As soon as they reached their home, Rudra had jumped in front of the little family, in an attempt to scare them but failed miserably when Ansh got him instead with a fake spider. Rudra shrieked and clung onto Shivaay as if his life depended on it.

"Bhaiya, help me, please!" He cried as he hold onto his brother while Shivaay was trying to stop Ansh from going further with the prank. Annika on the other hand kept laughing as she tried to take the fake spider away from Ansh. Finally, Annika managed to snatch the spider from Ansh and Rudra calmed down.

"Ansh, you really need to stop troubling your Rudy Chachu like that!" Shivaay reprimanded him.

"It's fun Papa!" Ansh giggled as he made a funny face to Rudra.

Before Shivaay could rebuke to Ansh's statement, Annika stepped forward and explained to him in a much better way. She knelt down to reach Ansh's level and patted his head before telling him that it was wrong to play such pranks on others, especially when that person is afraid of it.

"Okay, Mumma. I won't do it next time. I promise! Pinky promise!" Ansh sealed his promise and went off to appease an angry Rudra.

"They behave more like siblings instead of their actual relation, don't they? But, I pity Rudy, he's always being the victim of Ansh's behaviour. Anyhow, Ansh promised that he will not repeat such behaviour and had even Pinky Promised to me! So, don't worry Shivaay!" Annika proudly claimed to him while he plainly gave her a mocking look.

"What? He promised!" Annika shrugged her shoulders when they heard Rudra's voice, calling for help.

"But... but... but..."

"I know my son well, Annika. He inherited this trait from his mother and nothing can stop him from bullying others, especially Rudy!" Shivaay grinned as he walked towards the noisy duo. Annika was about to follow him when the door bell rang. Putting the best smile she could, Annika opened the door and squealed 'Trick or Treat'. Instead of a couple of kids like she had expected, her brother, Adi, Om and Chulbul were there.

"Adi?"

"We should talk inside." Om announced when everyone stood rooted at their place.

Shivaay was literally chasing Ansh while Rudra was nowhere to be seen when the rest of them entered the living room. The presence of Adi was noted by both of them and they stopped in their track.

"Who are you?" Ansh questioned him right away, before Shivaay could.

"Ansh, it's getting really late. Should I run you a bath so that we can hit bed on time?" Shivaay suggested, before anyone could answer Ansh's question.

*

"Ansh had just found out the truth his mother. Discovering the identity of her boyfriend along with it won't be good for him!" Shivaay thought to himself as he put Ansh to bed.

"Dad, can you sing the song that Mumma always sings for me?" Ansh's question brought Shivaay out of his reverie.

"Sure!" As soon as Shivaay began singing, another voice joined him from behind. It was needless to say that Annika was the one, judging from the wide smile from their son's face. When they were finished, Ansh giggled as he asked for once more.

"Once more? Aren't you sleepy, champ?" Annika questioned while ruffling Ansh's hair as she slumped on the other side of his bed.

"No! Sing again!" Both Shivaay and Annika gave in to his demand and sang it again. This time, when they were done, Ansh was yawning as his mother's soft caresses were making him give in to the slumber that was catching up.

"Good night Mumma! Good night Papa!" Ansh mumbled as he finally felt asleep.

"Good night Ansh!" His parents wished him and bend forward to kiss on his forehead at the same time. Upon receiving both the kisses, a wide, adorable smile formed on Ansh's face.

"Shall we go down?" Shivaay asked when Annika kept adoring their son with no intention to walk away. Her eyes were brimming with the unshed tears at the thought of leaving her son that quick.

"Can I just say goodbye to him? I'll come down in a while, I promise!" She whispered, without tearing the gaze away from her son.

Shivaay nodded and replied courtly with an alright when he realized that she couldn't have seen him nod.

"Hey Champ! I want you to know that Mumma loves you more than anything in this world. I don't know what lies ahead for us in the future, but I would give up anything to be with you. Good bye baby!" Annika whispered as she planted a lingering kiss on his forehead. Just when she was about to leave, Ansh had grasped her fingers in his hand. She felt a Déjà vu surging through as Ansh had done the same when he was a baby, the first time she had to leave him.

"Oh God!" Annika whisper-sobbed and slowly released her hand from Ansh's grasp and left. When she had composed herself and got down to the living room, she saw everyone being quiet at their respective places. As soon as Shivaay saw her, he walked up to her and slammed some papers on her hand.

"I've signed it. This is what you wanted, right? That is why you came around, didn't you? All these drama and sympathetic acts. It's all so that I would sign this, right? I've done it. Now you may leave my house!" Shivaay gritted.

"What sign? What are you saying?" Annika asked, being oblivious of what had happened and immediately checked the papers in her hand. It was divorce papers.

"Divorce?"

"I thought at least our relation was alive on papers. You are trying to end that also despite everything?" Annika questioned him.

"I never prepared this. Your lawyer did! So, obviously, this is what you want right? And don't worry about the alimony. It will reach you every month without fail. But, you can only meet Ansh once a month on a Sunday, under my supervision. If it's fine by you, then sign the papers and I'll have it processed by next week."

"Shivaay, think before you take this decision!" Om warned his brother.

"I've thought about it. When the person herself is not with us, then what's the need to keep the relationship alive even just on papers?"

"Is this what you really want? End our marriage?" Annika questioned him.

"Our marriage ended the day you walked out of this house. So quit this drama of trying to keep this relationship alive and so on. It's so agitating!" Shivaay spit his words out, like how a snake releases its venom. Slowly yet full of pain.

"Fine. I'll sign it, but I want more time with Ansh. I let him go once. I don't want to repeat my mistake!" Annika exasperated as she crossed her hands in front of her body.

"Ani, I've spoken to him about everything! It's all done! Why are you insisting on this now?" Aditya interfered.

"Yeah, I can see the result of your talking, advocate Aditya Hooda. You prepared a divorce paper without asking me. Did you know what I really wanted? Why did you do this?" Annika yelled and threw the papers towards her brother's face.

"Ani, I did what's the best for you! Do you really want to get back to this selfish man? He doesn't care about you let alone love!" Aditya's words was not affecting Annika but it pierced deep down through Shivaay's heart. He may pretend like he is no longer in love with her or care for her, but only he knows that no matter what, he can never stop loving Annika.

"Who gave you the rights to decide for me?" Annika gnashed her teeth.

"I think I don't have to remind you that!" Aditya answered her bluntly.

"So everyone decided everything, right? What I want, what I wish for, no one cares about it, right? Om, not even you?" Om was feeling guilty at the accusation but he had to keep quiet. This was the only way he had to get this family together again. Shivaay and the rest remained being silent spectators as Annika went on to sign on the papers. She took a final look at Shivaay, just to be sure that he would stop her from signing it. Instead of fear, she only saw determination in his eyes. Determination to get rid of her. Sighing at her fate, she signed the papers. Writing her name as Annika Shivaay Singh Oberoi for one last time left an unspeakable melancholy. The pain that kept her alive all these days no longer seemed to matter any more. It had numbed her senses and now she felt nothing anymore. She couldn't even cry, like how she had been doing for the past five years.

"Its done!" She announced and placed the papers on the table. Aditya grabbed their coats at once and ushered Annika out of the house while Shivaay kept his gaze on the divorce papers. Slowly, one by one of them departed from the living room until him and Chulbul were the only one there.

"Bade bhaiya, there's still a chance to mend everything and bring back what's yours. Think well before doing anything!" Chulbul hesitatingly said and left the living room.

Shivaay fell on his knees once he realized that he was alone. He couldn't pretend to be strong anymore. Not when he was breaking from the within. He was healing from all the pain. He was doing fine, but today when it all came back, he couldn't take it anymore.

"Why is love so painful?" His heart screamed. The pain that he had been keeping in all these years demanded to be felt. He reached out to the papers and looked at her name written with his. The irony that this would be the last time their names will be together was his undoing. Unable to keep everything inside anymore, he broke down. He let the pain flow out through his tears.

Beethe Pal, Phir Se Jiyu, In Palko Thale.

Lekin Ye, Mumkin Nahi, Aalag Thu Chale

Kaise Kahoon Main Har Ek Lamha Toot Raha Hu Main Tho Yaha

Hoth Siley Hai Barf Jubaan Hai Haal Main Kaise Kar Doon Bayan?

"With this ring, I promise that I'll never let you go away from me, like ever and I'll love you till my very last breath!" He vowed.

"With this ring, I vow to never leave you alone and be as annoyingly as possible in love with you type of wife apart from being the psycho I always am!" She giggled as he leaned in to seal their marriage, smiling in between the kisses.

Ro Ne Do.

Ro Ne Do.

Seeney Mein Dariya Hai, Aankhon Se Behne Do

Baato Na Mera Ghum, Mujhko Hi Sehne Do

"Hey husband, do you know why I married you?" She asked as they entered their honeymoon suite.

"Because I'm hot?" He chuckled.

"No, it's because..." she stepped closer, locking the door behind and throwing her arms around his neck.

"Because?" He wrapped his arms around her, pulling her closer.

"Because I want to be able to kiss you, hug you, hold your hand and be with you at all times! I just want to wake up to your face and sleep in your arms."

"That's all? You sure you don't want anything more?"

"That and this too!" She whispered while grazing her lips through the length of his neck, slowly pressing them as she undid the buttons of his shirt.

"Fuck!" He gritted as he picked her up by her waist, kissing her full lips and walked towards the bed.

Aye Khuda, Kyun Juda, Kar Diya Saason Ko

Din Leke Bhar Diya Mujhme In Raathon Ko

Haatho Se Hai Juda, Haathon Ko Ro Ne Do

Hoto Pe, Is Dil Ki. Baathon Ko Ro Ne Do.

Palkon Ki Khaande Pe, Khaabon Ko Ro Ne Do.

Yaadon Ki Sirhaane, Yaadon Ko Ro Ne Do.

They laid bare side by side, slowly drowning in each other's love. The passionate haze from their love making had kept them locked away from all the other senses.

"I love you, Annika, I really do!" He whispered while cupping her face and closed the distance between their lips right away.

As he broke away, she could feel his hot breath fanning against her lips and she joined them again.

"You'll be the death of me!" She groaned as they continued to drench in the rain of love.

"You'll be the death of me, Shivaay!" She whimpered, reminiscing their first love making experience.
