Chapter 7: Potential Ally?

"This... Is so annoying," Behind her blue-rimmed sunglasses twitched one of her eyes, as she wandered around. Despite the trek across sidewalks and roads, her fingers flexed from a great desire to sock the person who was following her. Luckily for her, the blonde from before wasn't there anymore, or so she thought, instead it was the same man who donned the trench coat. How the hell am I supposed to find this mall?! I don't know my way around. This is going to take forever. And this douche spat out fire from out of nowhere, I can't risk him doing that again. Her thoughts, clearly angry, echoed for a moment. When a grumble escaped her lips, it intensified when she smelled his smokey scent get closer and it was enough to throw her anger over the edge.

However, it quickly calmed when she watched him walk into a dark alley from her peripherals, as she wandered with her hands in her pockets. It was at that moment, that a relieved sigh left her lips since she didn't want to risk making a mistake. Now that the flamethrower's out of my hair, I can pick up my pace. This time, her feet sped up the walk and rounded a corner on the street, just to see a large mall not far from where she was.

Finally! One corner of her lips lifted into a smirk after she bolted in the mall's direction. I'm guessing this is the only mall here. Either way-- it doesn't matter. I'll kick their ass if they continue to pester me. Threat laced her words as she sprinted to the building and soon came face to face with double doors. Her eyes were focused on the name of the mall to even notice the passing stares of other citizens.

Through the doors and the crowd, her feet thudded across the hard floor past many open markets. Community benches, clothing stores, gaming shops, a library, there was just about everything a person would need or want to buy. However, those feline slits aimlessly wandered from side to side, she examined every person and every dark spot that could have the person she was told to meet with. Well-- if that jerk's gonna hide, there's no sense in tiring myself out. From an exhausted sigh, she sat on a fountain edge and lowered her head. The hood of her jacket she had covered the sides of her face, save for the blue-rimmed sunglasses that barely showed her hues.

With her elbows supporting her upper half, pressing against her knees, she was leaning over to hide most of her face to wait. "This better not be a waste of my time. Seriously, I got some shit to do," Vei mumbled under her breath, loud enough for anyone to hear if they sat close enough to her. However, when a reply came from a man who sat down next to her, she perked up cautiously and stared at his hooded frame.

"Yeah, I got some shit to do too," A raspy, almost cracking voice met her ears as the mysterious man slouched over and stared at her with his crimson eyes. Blueish hair peeked from the sides of his hood and hid most of his complexion, but his bare hands exposed a lot of what he tried to hide.

She didn't bother questioning him right away since his flaky pale hands proved what could hide under his hood and past his hair. "Make it quick then... What do you want?" From a quick adjustment of her sunglasses, she averted her gaze to view other shops that could potentially be worth a visit.

The mysterious man simply smirked at her question. "I got some questions for you, so answer them," Threat laced his voice when he quickly grabbed a hold of her wrist, save for one finger that remained lifted an inch. He wasn't expecting for it to jerk away and receive a hostile push to his shoulder, it wasn't enough to knock him over but it was a warning if anything. After a moment's pause, he continued with his smirk now in a frown.

"Depends on the question, asshole," To say she was delighted to meet a stranger would be a lie, in fact, his scent filled her nose and it was exactly as how Rin described. Decay... This guy's scent smells like death and decay. So, this is one of the dudes she spoke about? With a simple eye roll to the side and her hands now in her jacket's pocket, a low annoyed grumble escaped her lips.

"Are you and that Mysterious Feline that roams the night-- related somehow? It's not hard to notice the similarities when you both use the same technique, the same... Damn-- Quirk!" Through a clearly irritated and raised voice, he asked the woman and turned to see her better.

"Huh...? Are you serious? That's what this whole creepy meet-up was all about? You have to be kidding me... Leave me alone," As if on cue, when she stood up to walk away, the very man's hand reached out and grasped her sleeve. The piece he touched disintegrated, a threat to her that she noticed right away and whipped around.

He wasn't expecting a foot to the face when she punted him backward into the water of the fountain, sending him over the edge with a great splash. "Do that again and I'll kick you even harder... We had the same Teacher!" Vei spat with a nasty glare behind her sunglasses and walked away. Giving him a truth that wouldn't put her and Rin's identity in jeopardy was a better option than leaving him without an answer.

This time she wandered the paths and ignored the murmurs directed toward her behavior. Gotta stay calm, Vei-- Stay calm! I can't go around hurting people for no obvious reason. That jerk had it coming though, damn... Just look what he did to my jacket I just got! Angry, her slits looked down at the tattered sleeve and shook her head. Why can't people just leave me alone and let me go about my business?! Quickly she took the tattered piece of her sleeve and rolled it up close to her elbow, doing the same to her other one. However, when a bit of green money was slapped against her shoulder, she picked up the decaying scent from before and peeked at her side.

"For the damage... Same Teacher, huh? Masters can't teach their pupils how to use afterimages unless it's the pupil's damn quirk! What are you, stupid? Anyway..." He trailed off and watched her take the money, stashing it away into her pocket; with each step he'd take, a disturbing squelch would echo. From head to toe, his clothes were soaked and his bangs clung to his face.

However, Vei wasn't expecting an arm to reach over her shoulder and pull her head down.

He guided her into a dark place, just to earn himself a harsh kick to his feet to send him to the floor. "Gah-!" He didn't have time to so much as grunt, for he felt a sting in his gut when she kicked him once more. Across the floor, he skidded to a halt, as his ears heard a distinct grumble from the woman.

"Told you I'd kick harder!" Through gritted teeth and cautious steps toward the man, she made sure she stayed true to her threat from a minute ago. However behind her, to the back of her head, came a hard clunk from someone else who ultimately failed to knock her out. With her head down and her glasses now on the pavement, she hadn't moved an inch after that.

"Huh? She's still standing... That should've done the-" A deep voice behind her began to question their own strength when the person saw something snap in the woman.

"That's it!" Furious now, through almost a growling voice, she yelled and hardly cared at this point if they saw her eyes. When she whipped around to face the tall person, she delivered a sickening punch to the jaw and sent them several feet into the air. Just as the tall person came back down, albeit the pillar readied to strike, she whirled around and kicked at the person's ribs with a disgusting impact that All Might could've made if he held back.

Blood spat out when the person tumbled across the floor in front of the mysterious man's feet and heard the pillar thunk when it landed. "Leave, me alone! People are always trying to piss me off some way or another," With her head lowered, she did her best to hide her eyes from theirs when she leaned over and picked up her sunglasses. However, that was one fatal mistake on her part, she had no idea, that the mysterious man saw them.

"Thanks-- for paying me back, at least," More annoyed than anything, Vei wandered off and left them there. Her feet stopped just when she was about to completely leave the dark spot and saw in front of her, the same Flamethrower as before.

A smirk played at his lips as if he read her thoughts from the glare she gave him, he answered her before she could speak and chuckled. "That attitude's gonna get you killed," slow steps toward her earned him a roll of her eyes from behind those sunglasses. He watched her pass him, ignoring him and trying to avoid any other attempts at conversation.

"Join us," It was quick, the grab of her hand from Shigaraki without all five fingers, held her in place and demanded. Suddenly, he felt his hand yank forward and her kick at his feet. Over her shoulder, he was flipped and a good grip of the woman's remained tightly on his forearm.

"I don't need anyone..." Vei was doing everything within her power not to use her full strength on him or anyone who'd attack her and it ticked her off that much more. Trying to hold back was hard, cause sluggishly her grasp became stronger with each passing second despite his low grumbles from pain.

She's not worth it! Now about as pissed, Shigaraki was about to reach for her grip until she had let go and sighed. He didn't even get to touch her, to decay her, this time he chose to stand up and race after her when she walked a good distance away. I'll end this bitch! His red eyes shrunk from the rage inside when she whirled around again and grabbed both of his forearms.

"I said piss off, already!" Straight into his face, she yelled and felt the bone in both of her grasps crack a little which caught her attention. As fast as she could she let go and backed away a little bit, before running away.

"FUCK!" Screamed out the crusty man, his arms folded over his stomach to try and hold them both after he slouched over in pain.

"Maybe we should've planned a better approach? I didn't know it'd be hard to knock her out, wow," The tall person who wore sunglasses and carried the large pillar, spoke behind Shigaraki and the Flamethrower.

"Magne... Dabi. Let's go," Through struggling attempts to walk, all three of them wandered back into the dark spot and entered a portal by the same guy Rin had interrogated the other night.

Now that Vei was to herself again, her feet trekked the paths of the mall and to her side sat a sign in a display window. For Hire, it said, her hidden slits scanned everything before reaching for the door. Just when her fingers brushed the knob, it turned on its own and opened to reveal the same blonde from before. She had to step back to let him through, ignoring the fact that they ran into each other again but he had other plans.

"What a coincidence running into you again!" With a bright and friendly smile, he greeted. From what I saw before, the hooded man dragged her into an alley. It looks like the League of Villains are after her, but-- how did she escape them unscathed?! On the outside, he acted as though nothing had happened, but inside he was frantic and was trying to figure the woman out. There was no doubt in his mind that she wasn't normal, something about her was very different compared to most citizens.

"Right," Quietly, she answered, clearly annoyed by the encounter once again, and walked past him.

"Hey-- Miss, what happened to your jacket?" Curious now, his gaze checked the rolled-up, tattered sleeve and decided to walk along her side to stay in a conversation; or so he hoped.

"Why's that matter to you?" Rather rude she was, her tone indicated that she was in no mood to talk or have any company. Around her in the store, were hunting rifles, bows, scopes, hunting knives, camouflage, and all kinds of hunting equipment on many shelves. Why was this guy in here? He hasn't bought anything and he doesn't seem the type to go hunting. I'm really starting to feel like he's stalking me at this point... Behind her sunglasses, one of her eyes twitched, as her thoughts full of suspicion echoed.

"Because I bought it for you and if you were attacked by some thug then I'd like to know," This time his shaded eyes sharpened, and seriousness radiated from his bony face from the memory of her being pulled into that dark place earlier.

"Again-- why's it matter to you? I can handle my own fights and I'll make sure whoever attacks me, meets the end of my boot," Furious now, she snapped and faced the tall blonde. Her bead-hair clip flailed gently in her black locks as she did so, ignoring a couple of customers in the store who were whispering to each other.

"M- Miss... I may be a stranger to you, but as I said before-- I'm not one to simply sit by and let thugs get away or harm others," He had to be careful, for even the tiniest slip-up could potentially reveal who he is and could cause unwanted attention around them. For the longest time, their gazes stayed connected, although hers were hidden behind those dim sunglasses, he could still tell that she was weighing her options.

To tell or not to tell, Vei couldn't decide if it'd be a good idea or not. If I tell this guy, who knows what kind of crap could happen. Either he'd start hunting down those morons who jumped me or he'd stick closer to me as if I were a lost child... I swear, if he tries to do anything to me like some creep then I'm ditching him for good. Reluctantly, her gaze shifted before her feet turned and wandered away. Her thoughts were full of distrust and anger, enough to make her brows tighten. I can't just wander around and have people pester me constantly... But-- Rin and I need someone to help us locate those Dimensional Cracks. Who, though?! Who the hell would believe that someone came from another world?! Despite her unsettled monologue, she stepped into an aisle where a ton of ammunition and other gun accessories sat.

No one was around her except the older male who kept following her. Back and forth, she kept debating whether or not to tell him about those jerks who jumped her, because she knew that if she told him that... The conversation would eventually lead to her unusual occurrence in their world.

"You can trust me..." quietly he trailed, with a hand gently placed on the shelf next to her to block any possible prying eyes from the distance. Not once did his stern, shaded eyes soften or avert from her form, because of his hero instincts he could tell something was off and it urged him to insist. Whether the Villains were after her, or if she was in some kind of trouble, it could be a reason as why she killed the frantic citizen from before. He'd be able to report back to the higher-ups and reassure them if Vei wasn't a real threat. "I'm sure you've heard of All Might-- the large man in blue who everyone admires as the number one hero?" At this point, he didn't care anymore. If revealing himself as the number one hero would gain enough trust to have her tell him, he'd risk it. A true hero always helps and saves those in need or in danger, regardless of the money they receive or the consequences. Aside from that-- it could also be a way to figure her out.

"No, he doesn't sound very familiar," Straightforward, rather quickly, she replied and couldn't find anything worth taking on the shelf save for a quiver she might need later. However, as soon as she turned and walked towards the exit of the store, albeit keeping a mental note to visit the shop later, just outside of the door she saw a light. She didn't care at that point if the older man was following her, her feet were already sprinting across the floor and pushing the door open.

Behind her, she heard the blonde's feet but still didn't care, for what she saw pushed any sense of reasoning out of her mind. It was the very thing she and Rin were searching for. Within that second, what she saw, was a ton of people staring at her. She couldn't understand why a ton of eyes were on her, but after it disappeared as fast as it showed up, it left her with questions.

Are... Are there people watching me?! Very slowly, cautiously, her fingers inched close to the very spot where the Crack was and began to tap at the space; her finger felt nothing but air. "That... Was seriously weird. So-- maybe, there are people in other dimensions who can see me or... What if I'm in a story and people are reading it?" Dumbfounded, she continued to stare at the space until her head shook to snap herself out of it. "Stop, stop-- stop it! That's just stupid!" When she sighed her fingers lifted to pinch her brows, and stress began to swell within her mind from all of the possibilities and mysteries. "Whatever... I just need to continue with my original plan," When she turned back around to face the shop, instead she met the same blue eyes from before. She knew, right then and there, that she had some explaining to do.

The sheer look he had proved how concerned and suspicious he was of her. He wasn't frightened nor disturbed by what he saw or heard from her, in fact, he confirmed how he felt the moment he spoke. "Talk to me," His words caused silence between the two for a few minutes. Seeing her gulp down saliva, watching her fists tighten, and her barely hidden eyes narrow, he knew she was reluctant.

~~~~Elsewhere~~~~
"Really?! She would've broken your arms on the spot?!" Inside a bar, where the Misty man from before had cleaned shot glasses and wiped down the surface, exclaimed a girl in a school uniform.
"She's got strength. Next time, I'll use Mr. Compress's quirk... That woman's distant, fearless, and from what I've learned about her so far she'd be good enough to recruit," Mumbling angrily, his forearms pressing tightly against his chest after leaning over the bar's surface, Shigaraki didn't want to lose the opportunity of gaining another potential member. "The damn woman kept saying she had the same master! How can someone teach another how to move as she does unless it's a part of her quirk?!" From his mouth came an outburst of anger which made one of his League members shift their feet.
"Perhaps... It's not a quirk? Maybe it's a simple technique? Skills can be gained, strength can be enhanced, quirks manifest on their own," The misty man answered his Leader after placing a drink in front of him and a straw so he could at least sip at it.
"Wait! Maybe... She's superhuman!" Cheerfully announcing her conclusion, the girl in the uniform beamed with energy at the cool idea of a superhuman being.
"You mean like in that one movie, where this guy was bitten by a spider and he turned into one himself? Sorry to say, but I don't think that's really possible... Unless All for One secretly hid one of his creations and it got loose," The person with the pillar, hummed in thought at the girl's idea and leaned against the wall.
"She's right, it's not very possible-- and Magne, I don't think All For One would be that reckless as to let one of his Nomus escape," Mr. Compress soon sat at the opposite end of the bar where his Leader was and leaned his elbows back against the edge.
"I don't think All For One would leave her alone if we told him about her. Should we keep this to ourselves?" Some lizard man, with green scales, questioned his Leader when he gave him a skeptical glance.
"For now... Yeah. Only until we figure out whose side she's on," After finishing his drink, Shigaraki stood up and made his way to the exit. "I'm heading out to find someone to heal my arms," He didn't even give anyone a chance to respond when he did his best to open the door and close it behind him. His fractured forearms were a little bearable, he was still able to use them a bit to get from place to place.
"Perhaps-- it would be best to interrogate using other, more effective methods. If she's that hard to knock out... Then shouldn't we all pitch in? I will have to suggest the idea to him when he returns. It sounds to me that she's a lot more powerful than what we're seeing. If it's true, then we will need a better plan to kidnap her with proper teamwork," Carefully, he placed the empty glass his Leader sipped from, into the sink behind him and began to wash it.
"She'd be pretty valuable if she joined us," Magne smirked and adjusted her pillar so it would lay on the floor next to her feet.
"Hey-- where's Twice?" Dabi's question left a lingering silence, only to make his brow lift confusedly.
"He told me he won't be back until late tonight. Maybe he went to take a nap? He did tell me he had a raging headache though," The girl in the school uniform began to ponder his possible whereabouts, with a finger to her chin. She knew her good friend couldn't have gone too far, if it was to get rid of a headache then being somewhere really quiet was the only thing she could think of.
"Whatever, he'll turn up eventually," The Flamethrower's waving hand indicated that he hardly cared, so he too made his way out of the bar and made sure the door shut behind him.
