We Don't Have To Dance [Scott McCall]
"we dont have to talk
we dont have to dance"
***
To say the school dance was boring was an understatement.
To say it was an understatement was in itself an understatement.
I sat there, playing on my phone and using Piano Tiles whilst my friend, who had dragged me to this hellhole in the first place, flirted with her boyfriend.
I frowned when the 20% remaining sign came up and looked into my drawstring bag for a charger.
When I found it, I walked off to try to find an outlet.
I pushed open the door of the auditorium and made my way into the hallway, where Jeffery, the very nice janitor, kindly directed me to an outlet.
I slid down the wall, plugging in my phone and sighing, continuing my game of Piano Tiles.
I was doing very well, until I jumped due to the clear of a throat and my finger slipped and hit a white key.
"Um, excuse me?"
"What?" I groaned, rolling my eyes.
I looked up to meet the chocolate brown eyes of a guy with tan skin and gelled hair that was styled to go up.
"Sorry if you-"
"Just tell me what you want," I frowned at him.
"Can I use the, uh, can I use the outlet?"
I nodded at him, scooting over and he plugged his significantly shorter charger in.
"Why is your cord so long?" he furrowed his brows, eyes still trained on my cord.
"I like long cords," I winked at him, laughing, while he stared at me with his mouth open.
"But seriously, I move around a lot," I shrugged and he nodded, still shocked.
"Why aren't you inside?" he asked me, tapping his hands against his knees.
"Why do you keep asking me questions?" I didn't even look up from my phone, resuming my game.
"Because," he shrugged, smiling at me. "so tell me, why?"
"Well, why are you out here?"
He sighed, "Well, I need to call my mom but..."
He pointed to his phone as he pressed the home button, and it turned on to no avail.
"Momma's boy?" I laughed, looking up from my phone to look at him.
He smiled, "I actually kind of am."
"Don't worry," I flirted. "I find that sexy."
"Well lucky for you," he stood up when his phone turned on with 5%. "I find girls who don't like dancing sexy."
"Well why do we even have to dance? Why do we have to talk? Socialization sucks ass," I huffed.
"We don't have to talk, and we don't have to dance," the guy smiled, putting the phone to his ear. "but I guess we do it anyway."
He walked away and thought that was the end of that and went back to playing with my phone.
Then there were screams, blood-curdling screams that came from the auditorium and I was immediately brought to my feet.
In instinct, I ran towards the noise to find complete and utter chaos as everyone struggled to leave.
I opened the doors, finding my best friend being protected by a blonde haired kid who I recognized as Isaac Lahey.
The kid who got a major confidence boost over this year.
My mouth was wide open as his face changed from adorable, to monstrous, he sort of resembled a-
"Run!"
I furrowed my eyebrows, looking to my side to see someone push me right before a knife was hurdled at me.
I looked up groggily to see the face of the boy I had met, he looked up and his eyes went from borwn to red.
He hesistantly looked at me, "Are you okay?"
I nodded.
"Then go, I don't want you to get hurt."
He pushed off of my body and went to fight what looked like a girl with toenails that needed to be cut asap.
I got up, the boy being thrown against the wall as he yelled, "Go!" to me.
I smirked at him, tiliting my head to the side before I cracked my neck.
"Oh, you foolish girl," an older man said, walking in front of me.
I could tell that he was blind.
I felt all eyes on me as he spoke, everything seemed to stop, "Or are you? I'm feeling something come off of you, what is that?"
"You're about to find out."
I pushed my hands out, a wave of white light following.
He was pushed back, along with everyone else in the room.
"I knew there was something odd that was gonna happen today," I shrugged. "but you're an easy fight."
He smirked at me, "Maybe we can't win now-"
"What? We can take her, just-"
"Stop," the man cut off a very large man with a spilt down the middle of his body. "go."
They all ran off, besides the everyone from school, and I knew I would have some explaining to do.
"Why didn't you use your powers?" I asked my friend.
"Well I didn't know we were doing that..."
Everyone soon recovered from what had just happened, and the boy I had met before walked towards me.
"Hey," he smiled widely. "I'm Scott McCall."
"Good to know," I blew up my cheeks with air and let it out slowly.
"What you did was kind of hot," he shrugged, laughing.
"Lucky for you, I thought your red eyes were pretty hot too," I smirked, playing with the bands around my wrist.
"So, what was that? How did you get them to leave and how did you do that?" Scott genuinely looked amazed and you just smiled.
"I guess being an angel has it's perks."
