The Right Choice (The Mortal Instruments/Divergent)
Clary Fray knew she making the right choice when she chose Dauntless over Amity.
It wasn't that she had no love for Amity. She had lived there her whole life, and her family was there, and she loved them. Her parents had originally come from Dauntless, but both chose Amity when the time came because they wanted a new life together in a place more peaceful than Dauntless had been.
Clary had always enjoyed listening to her parents' memories of Dauntless, and she thought it was definitely a place she would want to live in. She knew she was meant to be a warrior, not a farmer. It must have been in her blood, given where her ancestry was.
That didn't mean it wouldn't be hard to leave her family. She didn't until after she made the choice how hard it would be to say goodbye, even though they would get to visit each other. Her heart was heavy as she caught the train to Dauntless, but there was also some hope, a hope that she would do well.
Clary especially hoped she would do well once she realized that she could wind up factionless if she wasn't good enough. She vowed to practice, to better herself, to prove she wasn't just some farm girl from Amity. She had Dauntless in her blood.
It was then that she met Jace Wayland. He had lived in Dauntless his entire life, and already knew the place. He and Clary instantly bonded, and the two of them began training together, vowing to be the best of their group.
And they did. Together, Clary and Jace became the best warriors of their group, the others in awe of their skills. Training together and winning together brought them joy, and it brought them closer to each other.

"My parents are coming tomorrow," Clary said. "My brother and my friend Simon might be with them, too."
"You seem pretty excited about it," Jace remarked.
"Yeah. I've missed them, and it'll be nice to have them come visit. You know, you should come meet them."
"You think they would like me?"
"I think you would all like each other if you got to know each other," Clary answered. "Come on, Jace. It'll be great."
"All right. I'll think about it. For you, I guess I could."
Clary smiled and squeezed his hand. "Thank you. I think it'll be a great day."
Clary rested her head against Jace's shoulder, and felt certain that she had made the right choice.
