Kara Danvers does not have many friends who she can trust with her secret identity, Supergirl. You, however, are one of the few people she does trust. You've known Kara long enough to know pretty much everything about her: who she really is, where she came from, the fact that she's secretly Supergirl. She trusts you with it all, and her trust is not misplaced; you would never betray her, not matter what would happen. 

 Over time, you develop deeper feelings for Kara. It's not just because she's Supergirl and she's a superhero, but more because you fall in love the person Kara Danvers is. To you, she's amazing. You don't know if she even realizes how amazing she is when she's disguised as ordinary Kara Danvers. 

 You've recently begun thinking about asking Kara out on a real date, and you've been debating it for a while now. Eventually, you begin to think that maybe you've been thinking a little too much and that you should ask her and get it over with. The worst that could happen is she'll say no. 

 One afternoon, when you're on the phone with Kara herself, she sounds a little tired, so you ask if she's okay. 

 "I'm fine," she answers. "I've just been having a rough day, I guess. I haven't been having much fun with anything lately, to be honest." 

 Suddenly, it hits you: maybe this would be the right time. If she thinks that going out with you for the evening might be fun, she might say yes. 

 "Well, I'm free this evening," you say. "If you're also going to be free, maybe we can go out and do something together. You know, dinner or the movie theater. What do you think?" 

 There's a short pause on the other end of the line, and then Kara says, "Yeah, I should be able to join you. I'll let you know when I can meet up." 

 "Okay. See you soon." 

 After you hang up, you realize that you didn't go so far as to suggest it be a real date. Would this be a real date? Well, it was or not, you could figure it out later. For now, you'll wait for Kara to let you know when she's ready.
