Isabelle Lightwood #1
"So, it seems we both happen to be single now," you say.
The subject of relationships came up during lunch with Isabelle at the Institute. She asked what you've been up to lately, and how the person you were dating this.
"Ah. Well, you see," you had said, "We broke up. We're not together anymore."
"Oh." Her face fell. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry I brought up."
"It's all right. I'd meant to mention to you, but...didn't really want to talk about it, you know?"
She nodded. "I get it. And it would be totally okay if you did want to talk about it. So, what are you going to do now that you're newly single?"
You shrugged. "I don't know. Concentrate on work for now, I guess. See if anyone else happens to come my way. That would be nice, wouldn't it? If they just show up one day and I don't actually have to go looking?"
"Well, of course it sounds nice," Isabelle answered. "But it's not very likely that it would just be that easy."
After that, the two of you moved on in conversation. However, it just so happened to come up that Isabelle herself isn't in any kind of romantic relationship at the moment. You're surprised that someone like her would be single; she's a great person (not to mention very sexy) and a great fighter. You yourself are fond of her.
"So, it seems we both happen to be single now," you say. "Guess that means we're on the same boat right now."
"I guess so," she replies. "That's not disappointing, is it?"
"What? How could it be? I like you, you know, and I don't mind being on the same boat. In fact," you add, "We should hang out more often. You know, maybe go out on more missions together. Now that I think about it, I don't think that's something we do often enough, you know?"
"Yeah, I get what you mean. But if we two single people suddenly started spending more time together, you know what kind of impression that's going to give, right?"
"So? I didn't think you cared all that much about gossip," you say. "You know, what everyone thinks of you and all that."
She smiles and shrugs. "Good point. Sometimes I do, others I just don't. Oh, all right. We should at least train together later. I think we'll have fun. Or least I will; for all I know, you've gotten rusty."
"Oh. I see." You return her smile. "Well, we'll just have to see, won't we? I'll meet you there."
