First Year (Supernatural/Harry Potter)
It was going to be Sam Winchester's first year at Hogwarts, and he was excited to finally be able old enough to attend. For four years, he had watched his older brother Dean go off to school every September, and knew it was a school he wanted to go to.
And now that he was standing there on Platform Nine and Three-Quarters, he was nervous. What if he wound up not liking Hogwarts at all? What if it wasn't as great as he thought it was going to be? Now that he was enrolled, his Hogwarts schooling would last fro seven years, and if he didn't like it there, it could end up being a very long seven years.
"Hey, Sam, come on!" Dean called. "You coming or what? I thought you would have jumped onto the train by now!"
Sam said another goodbye to his parents before following Dean onto the Hogwarts Express. He then waved goodbye to them from the window as the train began to pull out of the station.
"Come on." Dean tugged on his sleeve. "Let's find a place to sit and find Cass. You can sit with us this time around."
The brothers pushed past some other kids who hadn't gotten into compartments yet, and they soon found Cass sitting in an compartment by himself.
"There you are," he said when they came in. "I was starting to think you missed the train."
"Yeah, we had to fight our way through a sea of other kids," said Dean, sitting down across from him. "There's a bunch of lost first years out there as usual. Lucky for Sam, he's got us. You remember when we were a couple of scared first years?"
Cass nodded. "'Course I do. That's something you don't forget too easily."
"Did you guys have any idea what house you would get sorted into?" Sam asked.
"Dean didn't," Cass answered. "When we were at the sorting, he told me he had no idea where they were going to put him, and he didn't think he wanted to know."
"But then I landed myself in Gryffindor," Dean continued, "And saw that they were all right. And Cass here expected to get into Slytherin, because his parents are in Slytherin and they had him thinking that was where he would be. But as you know, he's in Gryffindor with me, so now his parents think there's something wrong with him."
"Is that true?" Sam asked Cass. "I don't think there's anything wrong with you."
He shrugged. "I think they were just disappointed at first. But then again, it's my fifth year, and I'm honestly not sure if they're over it yet. It's hard to tell what exactly they're thinking."
"Which house do you guys think I'll be in?" Sam asked.
"I think you could be in Gryffindor with us," said Cass. "Or maybe Ravenclaw. I think we'll just have to see when they put the Sorting Hat on your head."
When they arrived at their destination, Dean said to Sam, "The first years go in a different way from everyone else, and Cass and I will have to leave you here with the other first years for now. But we're going to the castle ourselves, so we'll see you inside."
"Good luck, Sam!" Cass called.
Sam had expected Hogwarts Castle to be pretty big, but he was surprised by how big it actually was. The inside of the castle was lit with floating candles, which he stared up at as they entered the Great Hall.
Sam waited patiently for his turn under the Sorting Hat while trying to get rid of the nervous feeling in his stomach. He could see Dean and Cass sitting together at one of the tables, probably waiting for his turn with the Sorting Hat.
When his name was finally called, he sighed and walked up the front. He closed his eyes as the Sorting Hat as placed on his head and waited for the decision. It was almost an entire minute before the hat shouted, "GRYFFINDOR!"
A cheer rose up from the Gryffindor table, and Sam smiled as he walked over to them.
"Well, congratulations," Dean said, ruffling his little bother's hair playfully. "I guess we really are stuck with you now, huh?"
"Hey, I think it's more like he's the one who's stuck with us now," said Cass.
"It doesn't really matter," said Sam. "I think we're all stuck with each other, anyway. Besides, I think I'll have fun if I'm stuck in the same house as you two."
