I'll See You on the Other Side
Trigger Warning: Death. You're Welcome.
Lafayette ducked behind a barn, managing to escape the battle for a moment to catch his breath.
"They're gonna find us here, you know." A breathless voice said from behind the Marquis, causing him to spin around, almost nicking Hercules in the face with the business end of his bayonet.
"Hey." The darker skinned tailor breathed out, using one hand to move the weapon away.
"Oh, Hercules. It's just you." The Frenchman smiled slightly before looking down and gasping.
"What happened to you?!" Hercules looked down as well, removing his hand from his chest as if he needed to be reminded. Lafayette stared at the blood that covered his hand, a terrified gasp coming from the male.
"The British aren't letting up a bit." Hercules chuckled out, gasping as he leaned against the wooden wall of the barn.
"Oh, God, Herc..." Lafayette bit his lip, frantically looking around for something - anything to use to stop the bleeding.
"There's nothing here, Laf." Hercules shrugged before forcing out a small laugh, "I'm gonna die."
Lafayette stopped in his tracks, kneeling next to his fallen comrade.
"No. No, you're not, I just..." Lafayette tore part of his shirt, which earned him a weak scolding from Hercules on how now his shirt had to be fixed and something like that. Laf wasn't listening. Instead, his hands were busy at work trying so hard to jury rig a makeshift tourniquet to stop the bleeding from Hercules' chest.
It seemed like hours before the tourniquet was secured, but it took mere seconds for Hercules to bleed through it, and the sight of the blood through the fabric was what made Lafayette start crying.
"Oh, hey, hey, hey... Shh..." Hercules shifted, pulling the smaller male into him, even if it hurt more, and the efforts only made Lafayette cry harder.
"It's gonna be alright, Laf. I promise it will be..." Hercules stroked the Marquis curly hair, trying to hide just how much harder it was getting to breathe.
"How can you be so calm?!" Lafayette sobbed, not feeling any better. At all.
"Because... I know it's... There's nothing we can do. Why are you so upset?" Hercules watched as Lafayette lifted his head to look him in the eyes, very obviously attempting to hold back his sobs, letting out breathy whimpers instead.
"I... Because... You're my best friend... I can't lose you, Hercules!" Herc just smiled, sitting up a bit, reaching up to carefully caress the other male's face, rubbing a thumb against his cheekbone, wiping away the tears that fell.
"It'll be okay. I promise... Remember this, okay? Remember that it'll be okay. Remember." Lafayette sniffled, nodding.
"I won't forget. I swear... I won't forget..." Hercules nodded, taking a gasp in for air. Breathing was just so damn hard.
"I'll wait for you, okay? I'll wait. We'll see each other again, honey. Some day." Lafayette let out a sob, his hands shaking as he reached up and placed his fingers over Hercules hands.
The two were silent for a moment, nothing but Lafayette's sobs and gunshots being heard before Hercules spoke.
"Kiss me." Lafayette startled, looking at Hercules like he was from another planet.
"I... That's... That's illegal, Hercules..." Herc shifted, a gasp coming from his lips in another sad attempt to breathe.
"Please, Laf... I.. I know it's not proper but..." Hercules let out a soft chuckle, his hands gripping Laf's neck. "I'm gonna die anyways... I don't want to have died without you knowing..."
"Knowing what?" Lafayette choked out, his hand moving behind Hercules neck.
"I love you, Lafayette. I... I have for a long time now... And... Well, now I'm dying," A gasp from the tailor proved his point. "And I want you to know."
Lafayette let out a soft sob, moving to hold Hercules closer, carefully pressing his lips into the chapped lips of his comrade.
It was so, so wrong, but Lafayette didn't care in the moment. It felt so, so right. Who would know anyways?
The kiss was deep and filled with a sort of passion neither had expressed before, and neither would ever express again.
After their lips were disconnected, the two just stared at each other, until Hercules let go of Lafayette.
"I love you. We'll see each other again one day, okay?" Lafayette nodded, holding Hercules closely as his eyes closed and he slipped to the other side.

Gilbert walked into the coffee shop, barely looking up from his phone as he ordered his drink, paid, and went to the other side of the counter and waited.
"Gilbert?" The male tucked his phone into his pocket, grabbing his frappe, looking up at the barista as their hands accidentally touched.
Even though he really didn't appreciate human contact, Gilbert didn't retract his hand, and instead simply stared at the barista. He looked so familiar, but Gil couldn't pin it.
"Sorry!" The other male said as he quickly retracted his hand, smiling nervously, but Gil didn't scold the barista as he usually would.
"It's... It's okay, uhm..." Gil looked at the name tag, the name hitting him in a way he just couldn't figure out.
"Hercules. I'm Hercules."
