After hearing the news of being pregnant on her wedding night, Lexi's shock was noticeable on her face as she stared back at the healer.
"Come again?" she said, suddenly feeling out of breath.
"You're expecting a baby, Mrs. Weasley," the Healer repeated himself, smiling broadly.
Lexi then turned to face Fred to look for his reaction, but he was just as surprised as her upon hearing the news.
"I'll give you some time to rest," said the Healer, feeling like it was best to leave the couple alone for some while. "But don't worry about the nausea; it's completely normal at this stage of pregnancy. If you had any more questions, feel free to ask."
With that, the Healer left the two, and Lexi and Fred found themselves alone in the quiet room.
"Well... at least now we know I wasn't just getting chubby because of the wedding's stress-eating." Lexi chuckled nervously, trying to make jokes as a way to lessen the tension of the atmosphere.
But Fred didn't say anything in response, as though he hadn't even heard her. He was staring into distance, looking dazed with his eyes still wide.
Lexi had already gotten nervous after hearing the news, but with him staying this quiet, it was certainly increasing her anxiety.
"Freddie?" Lexi muttered.
"I... I'm..." Fred started to mumble under his breath, blinking a few times in confusion before finally turning to look at her with a grin. "I'm gonna be a dad!"
Lexi laughed when Fred suddenly leaned down and brought her into a hug. She felt her heartbeat picking up pace. Without being able to control herself, she felt happy tears form in her eyes. It was the sort of happiness she had never experienced in her life before.
"Lex, this is... this is the best news I had ever gotten... in my entire life," said Fred as the two pulled away. "You're pregnant, for crying out loud!" he exclaimed.
"Do you think — do you think we're ready for this?" Lexi whispered, her heart pounding in her chest from sheer happiness and excitement.
"I think we can figure it out on our own, along the way." Fred smiled, placing a soft kiss on her forehead. "I mean... how hard can raising a kid be?"
"Well, if this kid is anything like you and George, I think we're going to need all the help that we can get." Lexi chuckled.

After leaving Saint Mungo's, Lexi and Fred returned back to their house in London. They both still felt dazed, feeling as if this were a mere dream. With their hands intertwined, they walked into their quiet home, goofy smiles across both of their faces.
Lexi was now feeling much better, because the Healer had given her a potion to help her cope with the nausea temporarily. So they both changed into their pajamas, getting back to bed after the long night. It felt as if days had passed from their wedding, even though it was just a few hours ago.
"Hey, Freddie?" Lexi started, getting under the cozy blanket and resting her head on the soft pillow. "Can I confess something?"
"Sure," Fred hummed, pulling her body closer to his on the bed, resting his eyes.
"To be honest, at first when the Healer said I was pregnant, I got scared a little," she confessed.
"Why's that?" Fred opened his eyes, looking back at her with a little smile.
"Well... I was scared because I thought you were gonna freak out."
"Oh, I did freak out," Fred grinned, "but in a good way."
Lexi chuckled, closing her eyes and moving closer to him, curling up against his chest as the comfortable and peaceful silence filled the room.
But Lexi suddenly smirked, thinking of something. "My dad and Sirius would kill you."
"What? Why?" Fred frowned down at her in confusion, hoisting himself up on one elbow.
"Well, technically this is pre-honeymoon baby," said Lexi jokingly, grinning. "You'll have some big explaining to do when Sirius and Dad find out."
"Hey! Sirius was the one who agreed to us moving in together when you were seventeen! What was he expecting? For us to keep five inches apart the whole time we were in one room together?" Fred retorted, making her laugh.
"Anyway... how do we break the news to our families?" Lexi mused. "I know both your parents will be over the moon once they hear the news."
"I guess one of us can tell your parents, and the other will have to break it to your father and crazy uncle."
"Hey! Sirius is not crazy!" Lexi protested, holding back a snort. "I mean, sure, he can be immature and dramatic sometimes... but that's just how all the Black family is!"
"No arguing on that," said Fred, giving her a teasing look, at which Lexi smacked him across the arm playfully.
"So... who's gonna tell your parents?" she questioned after a short pause.
There was a long moment of silence, before,
"I CALL IT!"
"I CALL IT!"
They both shouted almost at the same time, but Lexi certainly managed to be the first to say it.
"Ugh, damn it." Fred groaned in disappointment, making her giggle. "That means I have to tell your dad."
He then looked down at her with a mocking sigh. "We're gonna be terribly irresponsible parents, aren't we?"
Lexi smiled, leaning up to press her lips softly against his. "I'm sure we'll manage."
***
The next day, Lexi and Fred sent owls to both their parents, inviting them over for dinner, so they could tell them the news together. They had sent an invitation to George as well, because Fred couldn't wait to tell the great news to his own twin brother and see his reaction in person.
The newly-wed couple were leaving for their honeymoon in two days, so this was going to be their best chance. Fred had gotten three weeks off work for the wedding and the honeymoon all together, and left the shop to George and Ron for the time being.
"Don't you want to invite Sirius, too?" Fred asked as he gave their owl the letters, watching it fly out of their house's window.
"Yeah... no." Lexi shook her head with a grin. "I think we should just break the news to him in a letter, while we're far, far away from home and in a safe distance from him," she said jokingly, both of them chuckling at that.
Lexi was sitting crossed-leg on the floor, behind the table inside their living room, putting aside her quill and ink after sending the letters away.
"He couldn't make it anyway, even if we wanted to invite him over," said Fred.
"Yeah, he must've gone to watch the season's Quidditch game again. It's between England and France this time," Lexi acknowledged. "I think Remus and Tonks have gone with him too. They've all gotten a few days off work, I guess."
"I still don't get how your uncle is more protective of you than your own father," said Fred.
"Sirius is just under the impression that all the guys are womanizers just like how he used to be when he was younger," Lexi reasoned. "He thinks every guy is a bad boy just like him, which is silly."
"Hey, I can be a bad boy too!" Fred argued playfully, wiggling his eyebrows at her.
"Oh, yeah?" Lexi smirked up at him. "How many girls have you been with, exactly?"
"A lot!" He scoffed arrogantly.
"Okay, then... name a few," Lexi said challengingly, finding amusement in this conversation.
"Well, let's see... um..." Fred started thoughtfully, counting with his fingers, "There was this one girl I met on the train to Hogwarts, who claimed to be an exchange student from Ilvermorny... Then there was another girl who pranked Filchykins by giving love potion to Peeves. That one was legendary... Oh, and let's not forget about this other girl I dated, who kept calling me an idiot, for some reason."
Lexi laughed, shaking her head at him in disbelief before smiling warmly up at him. "Well, I'm sure all those girls loved you unconditionally."
"Tsk, tsk," Fred shook his head at her in a mocking manner, "and you call me cheesy."
With a smile playing on his lips, Fred then moved toward her and sat down on the floor beside Lexi, wrapping his arms around her from behind and pulling her closer to him.
Lexi felt sparks rushing down her spine as Fred's fingers then traced down toward her belly, placing his chin down on her shoulder.
"Can you believe it, though?" he whispered, unable to stop smiling as it widened across his lips. "We're going to have a baby in nine months! We're going to be parents!"
"Well, I don't think it's going to be nine months. It's probably going to be less. It's not like the baby was conceived last night," Lexi reasoned with a light giggle, leaning back against him and making him chuckle.
"Do you think it's going to be a boy or a girl?" Fred mused, holding Lexi as they were both still sitting on the floor.
"Hmm..." Lexi pondered the matter for a short while. "I have a feeling it's a girl."
"Really?" Fred raised a brow at her. "I think it's definitely going to be a boy."
"Now why would you think that?" Lexi asked in amusement, looking up at him as she still remained in his arms.
"It's not a guess — it's just that — well, I've been raised in an all-boys family, you know."
"What about Ginny, then?"
"Nah, Ginny doesn't count. She was tougher than us six boys put together." Fred grinned. "But... I mean... I don't have the slightest clue on how to raise a girl. I don't know the first thing about it."
Lexi chuckled, raising her face up slightly to place a small kiss on his lips. "You don't have to worry. We have around eight months to prepare ourselves for the baby's arrival. And I'm sure we're going to love that kid no matter what."
"Yeah..." Fred shrugged. "I mean if Mum could raise seven kids, then how hard would it be to raise one?"
"Have you ever thought about how many kids you'd want?" Lexi questioned. "I mean, do you ever think about these stuff?"
"Of course I do." He nodded with amusement. "For the past few years, I've been picturing myself with four kids."
"Four!?" Lexi exclaimed in shock. "I'm not a baby-vending-machine, you know!"
"A — what?" Fred raised his brows at her in confusion.
"Oh, forget it. It's a Muggle thing." Lexi laughed, getting up to her feet. "I'm just glad I didn't get nauseous today. I guess the Potion the Healer had given me still has its effects. But I definitely need to go to Saint Mungo's before we leave for our honeymoon. I need to get more of that potion. I'm not sure if I want to spend half of our honeymoon throwing up."
"Yeah," Fred grinned as he got to his feet as well, going forward to wrap his arms around her waist again, leaning his forehead down against hers. "I mean... why ruin the chance of doing way more fun activities in the mornings while we're there?"
Lexi laughed, going on tiptoes to press her lips against his. So Fred just tightened his arms around her and brought her closer to his chest, deepening the kiss.
***
As the night arrived, Fred and Lexi sat ready in their living room, waiting for their guests' arrival. They were both excited and nervous to break the news to their families, trying to picture their reactions.
"I'm pretty sure my mum would burst into tears," Fred mused.
"True." Lexi nodded in response, bearing a smile across her lips. "But my Dad would definitely kick your arse."
"Haha, very funny," Fred said flatly, giving her a look. Although deep down, he feared to get that exact reaction from his father-in-law.
Lexi usually wasn't the one to cook in their household, but that day Fred had insisted on doing all the work for their guests. After learning that Lexi was pregnant, he wouldn't even let her use magic to wash the dishes, insisting that he would do it all himself and that she should be getting some rest.
But no matter how many times Lexi told him that the baby wasn't even big enough to hold her back from doing her day to day activities, he still wouldn't listen.
At half past seven, Lexi and Fred suddenly heard a car pull up their driveway, and they saw her dad's car park outside their house.
"That would be my parents," said Lexi, getting to her feet.
"No, no, you stay here," Fred started, placing a hand on her shoulder to make her sit back down on the couch, "I'll get the door."
"Freddie, I'll be fine! You can't just forbid me from moving for eight whole months —"
But Fred had already made his way over the house's entrance. Shaking her head at him with a smile, Lexi watched as Fred opened the door, greeting Regulus and Lisa before they had even got the chance to reach the door and knock.
"Good evening," Fred said as politely as possible while moving aside from the doorway, gesturing them inside.
Lexi assumed that he was just trying to get on her parents' good sides before breaking the unexpected news to them, hoping for the best reaction.
"Hey! If it isn't my favorite son-in-law!" Lisa said cheerfully, bringing Fred into a hug.
"Er... isn't Lexi your only child?" Fred said after pulling away.
"Exactly." Lisa winked at him, before moving toward Lexi to bring her into a hug.
"Hello, Mr. Hooper-Black," Fred said half-jokingly, making Regulus laugh lightly.
"Is that how you're going to call me each time we meet?" Regulus asked, the edge of his lips curling upward.
"I can call you Mr. Hooper-Black-Goldman, if you like." Fred shrugged, grinning.
"How about we just stick with 'Regulus' for now?" he offered.
"Oh, thank Merlin! That was a hell of a long name," said Fred with a playful sigh, shaking Regulus's hand as they both laughed.
"Hi, Dad!" Lexi greeted him, bringing his father into a hug.
"Hey, Kid," said Regulus, smiling down at her. "You know, you two caught us by surprise when you invited us over here tonight."
"Yeah," Lisa nodded in agreement, "don't you guys have to get ready for your honeymoon? You're leaving in two days, aren't you?"
"Yeah, but everything's in order, don't worry about it," Lexi replied. "We've packed everything for the trip, and Fred has already booked a Portkey for us to Greece. It leaves at exactly seven a.m, in two days."
"Oooh, what's a Portkey?" Lisa asked curiously, looking back at Regulus with excitement glimmering in her eyes.
"A Wizarding transportation method," he replied, always finding it amusing how his wife got excited each time such things were mentioned.
Regulus then turned to the couple, saying, "Greece was a good choice, by the way. I've never been there, but I hear there are so many fascinating Wizarding history there. Ancient Greek wizards and witches were extraordinary with Astronomy."
"Hold up!" Lisa suddenly said, her eyes widening. "Are you telling me that there are wizards all over the world!? Are there other schools for them too!?"
Lexi giggled. "Yes. There are quite a lot of them."
"Wait... so all those myths and cool stuff that we hear about ancient Greek and their astrology science were made by your kind?"
"You're making me feel special by talking like that about us, Mrs. Hooper," Fred joked.
"It's just that these are all so fascinating," said Lisa, sighing. "It makes me wish that I was part of it."
"But you are a part of it," said Regulus comfortingly, wrapping an arm around her and placing a kiss on her temple. "You're part of this crazy little family, aren't you?"
"That's not the point, Roger! I want a freaking wand!" Lisa retorted, and they all laughed.
Each time Lisa wanted to make fun of her husband, she would call him 'Roger'. Not to mention she frequently teased him about his name, saying how lame it actually sounded.
Although just then, Lisa let out a loud shriek and jumped out of her skin when the fireplace in their living room gave a loud uproar as it turned green, and the next moment Mr. and Mrs. Weasley stepped out of it.
Fred and Lexi glanced at each other sideway and tried to hold back their laughters as Lisa placed a hand over her fast-beating heart due to the shock.
"Oh, look at our new Weasley bride!" Mrs. Weasley exclaimed happily the moment they walked into the living room and spotted Lexi. So Mrs. Weasley went forward, bringing her into a tight hug.
"It's like I don't even exist." Fred shook his head in disappointment, receiving a look from his mother.
"Are we last to get here?" Mr. Weasley questioned after they had all greeted one another. "Or are others joining us?"
"George is supposed to come too," Fred said, looking down at his watch, "he's running a bit late, though."
With that, Fred waved his wand and on cue, six bottles of butterbeer started floating toward them from the kitchen. He then turned on the Wizarding Wireless Network to play some music.
It didn't take long for Lisa and Mr. Weasley to start talking with each other again excitedly, as she asked him about Portkeys, and in return, he kept gushing over how much easier using a pen was than quills.
While Regulus was talking to Fred about his work at the joke shop, Mrs. Weasley struck up a conversation with Lexi about how neither her nor Fred had worn their formal dresses at the wedding. Although she told Lexi how glad she was that the two of them had finally settled down.
"To be honest, I never thought I would ever see the day when someone would actually consider marrying Fred and George," said Mrs. Weasley with a light laughter. "But I guess Fred got very lucky to have you by his side, dear."
Fred stopped his conversation with Regulus and turned to look at his mother blankly. "Honestly, speak louder, Mum. I don't think the neighbors heard how proud you were of me."
"Oh, hush!" Mrs. Weasley shook her head at him, though still smiling.
Although all their attention was caught when they heard a loud crack from outside the house as someone just Apparated right outside their door.
"That must be George," said Fred as he went to open the door for his brother.
"Hey, Freddie!" George greeted, clapping a hand behind Fred's shoulder as he stepped inside. "Sorry I'm late. There was this kid at the shop who tried to sneak out a Skiving Snackbox. So our thief-catching charm backfired on him and his head started getting so big that it couldn't fit through the shop's door on his way out."
Fred snorted with laughter. "Damn, I wish I was actually there to see it."
"Yeah, it was hilarious." George nodded with a gleeful grin. "Although the kid's mother did not agree. So I had to stay and shrink his head."
Once George took off his cloak and stepped inside the house, his eyes fell on Lexi who was walking forward to greet him.
"Snappy!" George boomed, going forward to bring her into a tight hug.
"Hi!" Lexi chuckled at his enthusiasm, pulling away with a smile.
"So are you pregnant yet or what?" George joked, laughing. "You guys better get a move on. You're falling behind from the other Weasleys."
Lexi and Fred glanced at each sideways, both of them starting to panic. But they tried to shake the matter off by forcing a small laugh at George's joke.
Although once the dinner was over and they were sitting behind the dining table with their plates all emptied, Lexi and Fred gave each other a meaningful look, knowing that it was finally time to break the news to their families.
Therefore Fred suddenly cleared his throat, getting their attention. "Er... so... there was actually a reason as to why Lexi and I invited you over tonight."
"Oh, good God! You guys aren't getting a divorce already, are you?" George gasped dramatically, receiving a smack on the arm from Mrs. weasley.
"What? It was just a joke!" George said defensively.
"Well, what is it?" Regulus questioned, looking between Lexi and Fred with obvious concern in his eyes.
"Er... Lexi?" said Fred as he went pale, turning to face his wife for help.
Lexi rolled her eyes at him before looking around at the others, saying at last, "I'm pregnant."
Silence.
For long seconds, silence was the only sound that could be heard as the five of them stared blankly at Fred and Lexi.
"Damn, Freddie, you work fast. It hasn't even been one week since your wedding," George broke the deadly silence by cracking up a joke. "But seriously, what's the news?"
"That was it," Fred said, shrugging. "We're having a baby."
"OH MY, GOD!" Lisa was first to shout out, clapping her hands together from excitement. "Really!?"
"Yeah! Why does no one believe us?" Fred grinned. "How many other ways are there to say that Lexi's pregnant?"
"Oh, you two!" Mrs. Weasley cried out, getting to her feet along with Lisa and Mr. Weasley to congratulate the couple.
Although both George and Regulus hadn't moved a muscle, as if frozen on their seats while they stared up at Lexi and Fred in disbelief.
"You're — you're pregnant?" George stuttered.
"Not me. Lexi," Fred corrected him, grinning.
"So I'm — I'm going to be an uncle!?" George still didn't seem fully over the shock of the news.
"You already were an uncle to others, but yeah," Lexi said, nodding cheerfully. "This is a new version."
"CONGRATULATIONS!" George suddenly roared, causing Mrs. Weasley to jump out of her skin. He then went and brought the two of them in a group hug.
"Ugh, you're suffocating us!" Fred groaned. "Are you trying to make our kid an orphan by killing us?"
George laughed, pulling away. "You're gonna name that kid after me though, right?"
"Er... we haven't decided on the name yet," Lexi said awkwardly as both her and Fred tried to avoid George's eyes.
"Hey, you two promised! Don't think that I've forgot! It was the summer that you two got together! You said you would name the kid either George or Georgina!"
"I — well — we'll see," Lexi tried to shrug the matter off before turning to look at her father, who was still transfixed on his seat.
Lisa and the Weasleys had already gone to pop up a champagne to celebrate the news, joined by George soon after.
"Dad?" Lexi started worriedly, pursing her lips together.
"I just... can't believe I'm going to be a grandpa," Regulus said with a smile. "I'm so happy for you."
He then got to his feet as well, going to hug Lexi. Although when he pulled away, he turned his dangerous glare on Fred, who gulped and took a step back.
"In my defense," Fred started, trying to come up with a good excuse, "she started it." He pointed a finger at Lexi.
"What?" Lexi raised a brow at him, shaking her head.
"You know, when I sent Lexi back to save my brother's life, I did not expect that she would end up pregnant by one the Weasley kids she used to obsess about," said Regulus, the edge of his lips curling up. "But... I'm glad you two found each other."
"Er... Thank you?" Fred said awkwardly.
"Now, you better take care of her," Regulus pointed a warning finger at him. "And let me warn you, I still know a few Dark spells from my Death Eater days."
Lexi rolled her eyes at his father's old threats, but they always seemed to work on Fred for some reason.
"Sir, yes, sir!" Fred saluted, making them laugh.
But Regulus then turned to face Lexi once more, a warm smile on his lips as he brought her into yet another hug.
"I still can't believe it..." Regulus whispered. "My little Lexi is all grown up."
***
The night went better than Lexi and Fred had expected, and their families took the news very well. At one point, when the realization suddenly hit Lisa that she was going to be a grandmother, she started crying happy tears. Even Fred and Lexi still hadn't fully gotten over the fact that they were going to be parents soon.
But in two days time, they had to push the thought away for a short while and leave for their honeymoon to Greece.
It was still pretty early in the morning, and the sun had just begun to rise. It was harder than ever for Fred to wake Lexi up, because she kept asking for five more minutes.
They ate a quick breakfast and soon started to get ready to leave. Their trunk was awaiting them at the door as they were double checking to make sure they hadn't forgotten anything.
"Do you have the Muggle money on you?" Lexi asked, wearing her shoes.
"Yup. Got them from Gringotts last week." Fred nodded. "Did you remember to pack your potion?"
"Yeah. Drank a bit of it today, too. I was afraid that the Portkey might make me nauseous again," she said, shuddering at the thought.
"Okay... I think we've got everything," Fred mused, looking around the house. "Ready to leave?"
"As ready as one can be!" Lexi said enthusiastically, giggling when Fred leaned down to press a soft kiss against her lips.
Once the two stepped outside with their trunk, they held each other's hands and Disapparated away, appearing the next moment in a wide plain outside London.
They had to walk for a few minutes, so Fred offered to carry their trunk — even though they had put a charm on it to make it feel lighter and easier to carry.
The golden light of the newly risen sun dribbled through the field of green grasses and wild flowers. The cool breeze passed them by, caressing their skins and tousling their hair as it went through the tree branches, creating an ear-catching melody.
"Ah, there he is," Fred announced, looking at the top of the hill where a man stood with an old and empty vase below his feet.
Fred then offered his hand to Lexi to help her up the sharp slope of the hill, until they finally reached the wizard.
"Hello! A Portkey for three, please," Fred started jokingly, but the man only stared between them in confusion.
"Three? But I was told there would be only two passengers," said the wizard. "Are you expecting another person?"
"In around eight months, yes." Fred nodded proudly, grinning as he glanced down at Lexi's belly.
"Sorry. My husband's a joker," Lexi tried to shake the matter off with a smile. "It would be just the two of us for now."
"Well, the Portkey would be leaving in seven minutes and twenty seconds, to be exact," said the man, gesturing at the old vase at his feet.
"You excited?" Fred whispered to Lexi after a while, and she nodded. So he wrapped an arm around her shoulder, bringing her closer to him to plant a soft kiss on her temple, whispering, "me too."
After the seven minutes had passed, the wizard finally said, "Get ready. Only fifteen seconds left."
With that, both Lexi and Fred got down to their feet and sat on the fresh green grass, holding onto the the vase.
"Ten," said the wizard.
"See you in Greece, Mrs. Weasley," Fred told her quietly, winking.
"Five," the man announced.
Lexi smiled at him. She could remember the first time they had met on the train to Hogwarts. She could remember how her heart had fluttered when he had winked at her for the first time after shaking her hand.
"Three..." The vase started shaking under their touch.
Lexi remembered the first time they had kissed, at the field outside the Burrow and under the starry night.
"Two..."
Fred was alive, and this was the true reality. This was her life now. And she couldn't wait to spend the rest of it with him.
"One!"
On cue, the two of them started to speed forward in a howl of wind and swirling color, the plain and the wizard disappearing out of sight.
Lexi closed her eyes, the world spinning around her. But she couldn't help but feel the happiest she had ever felt before. Because she knew that her life was only beginning.
