1 year after war...
Hermione's POV
I smile as I hear the door open and close gently. I've been waiting for Ron to get home so I could see what he wanted to do tonight. He said he wanted to do something special with me tonight.
"Honey I'm home!" Ron yells from the front door. I hear him set down his suitcase probably full of paperwork. After the war he went through a really hard time with Fred dying, but that was a year ago. I helped him get better so he wouldn't have to go to St.Smith's asylum. That would have been a nightmare.
"How was work?" I ask as Ron comes into the dining room where I am sitting with the newspaper laying out in front of me. After the war and Ron moved on from his brother he was offered a job along with Harry to work in the ministry as Aurors. I don't get to hear much about his job, but I've done my research.
"Good, but I must ask when do you plan on getting another job?" He asks chuckling. It's been one year since the war and I've been through 6 different jobs. I just couldn't find one that I liked.
"Unlike you, I just haven't found a job that I like yet. I want to be happy in my job and being a clerk didn't make me happy," I say putting the Daily Prophet down.
Ron just chuckles. "Well I was thinking we could do something special tonight," Ron says sitting down in the chair beside me and reaching for my hand.
"Like what?" I ask curiously.
"Like a surprise!" Ron says excitedly. I can tell he has this all planned out and everything. I can tell because when he's proud of himself he can't stop grinning.

a few minutes later
"Are we almost there?" I ask for the third time in a few minutes. When we were at home Ron put a blindfold over my eyes before we apparated. Ron still hasn't told me where we're going and it's really agitating me. I hate not knowing things. Especially things that other people know and I don't.
"Can I look yet?" I ask excitedly. I really wanna know what this surprise is and I don't think I can wait any longer.
Ron guides me telling me where to step for what seems like forever. Finally he stops. "Okay stay there for a second," he says before he removed his hands from my shoulders and comes around in front of me.
"Okay you can take off your blindfold," he says and I instantly reach up to push the blindfold off my eyes. I glance around wildly not knowing where I am. There's a lake and trees and that's when I realize we're standing beside the lake where Harry, Ron and I hid during the war. I smile. this is the only place I ever felt safe during the war.
That's when I glance down to see Ron leaning on one knee with a small black box in his hands.
"Will you, Hermione Jean Granger, marry me?" He asks while opening the tiny black box to reveal a ring with two small diamonds held on by sterling silver hugging them in with a small infinity sign.
I smile and I start to break down. I'm just so happy! I never really though about marriage with Ron but now that I do I can't see a future without him! We can have kids! Oh so many kids! I'm just so happy I can't stop crying.
"Bloody hell Hermione, are you alright?" Ron asks coming up from his knee and pulling me into a hug. That's when I realize he thinks I'm saying no.
"Ron," I say quietly and he turns towards me. "Yes," I say and he instantly holds me up into the air and spins me around. This is honestly the best day of my life and I don't think anything could knock the grin off either of our faces.
"Oh Hermione, I love you!" He says smiling.
"I love you too Ronald Weasley," I say gently before leaning in and kissing him passionately.
