Chapter 159
Then, as I looked deep into her hazel eyes, I finally realized why she looked so familiar; she was in the photo I had seen of my father in Slughorn's office.
She was the girl with blue hair.
I cleared my throat and shook my head. "Excuse me, what were you saying before?"
"I said that I wouldn't do that if I were you," she repeated herself, still grinning handsomely.
"Er... do what?"
"Making your boyfriend jealous by talking to another boy," she answered coolly. "Only works temporarily. Leads to problems later on."
I chuckled. "Well, what would you have me do?"
Her grin widened. "You really wanna know?"
"Sure." I shrugged.
Jenna then took a few steps toward me, looking at Fred across the place, who was glancing at me every once in a while guiltily.
"Here's what I would do," Jenna started, the edge of her lips twitching up into a small smirk, "I would kiss him in a way that he would forget all about the other girls."
I gaped at her, feeling my face flush at those words as I looked away awkwardly. "Is — is this talk really appropriate?"
"No." She shrugged casually. "But it's necessary," she said playfully and winked, making me laugh lightly.
"Okay," I said, throwing a quick glance at the group of giggling French girls. "Say I get my boyfriend to go all dizzy... what if the other girls don't let him go?"
She chuckled darkly before moving closer to me, leaning down, and whispering, "Well... that's when you gotta drag some bitches down."
I laughed at that, but the next moment we were interrupted by Sirius who came toward us, throwing an arm around Jenna's waist.
"What are you doing, Jenny?" Sirius asked suspiciously, narrowing his eyes down at her.
She shrugged, giving him an innocent look. "Just passing down valuable knowledge."
Sirius raised a brow at her. "Can you please not teach her anything? Lexi's troublesome enough on her own."
Jenna gasped mockingly, as if personally offended. "What? You think I'm a bad influence?"
"No, but I think you're as evil as Satan."
She scoffed. "Satan wishes he was as evil as me."
"Hello!" Turning around, we saw George walking toward us. He then took Jenna's hand in his, shaking it charmingly. "George Weasley, at your service."
"Yeah, I know you," said Jenna, smiling at him, but Sirius gave George a look when his one ear went slightly red.
"So... er..." George started uncomfortably. "Are you and Sirius... you know... married, or something?"
By those words, Jenna and Sirius turned to glance at each other sideways, a hint of hurt flashing through both their eyes, which went unnoticed by George.
"No." Jenna shook her head, forcing a little smile.
But George only smirked. He opened his mouth to speak, but I beat him into it when I said, "So how long have you guys been going out?"
"Oh, we go way back," said Sirius, grinning.
"We started going out at Hogwarts," Jenna explained. "Although... there was many years in between that..." Her voice trailed away.
So she shook her head, turning to me and changing the subject quickly. "So you and Fred started dating at Hogwarts too, huh? How're things between you?"
"Yeah, we did." I nodded. "Things are fine. Although it would've been better if someone hadn't made us uncomfortable by setting a silly five-inches-rule."
By those words, Jenna turned to glare at Sirius, who looked away briskly, avoiding her eyes.
Jenna shook her head at him in disappointment, muttering, "You filthy hypocrite."
"So, anyway," Sirius cleared his throat. "Speaking of Hogwarts; how are things there?"
"Ah, yes... the good old days at Hogwarts." Jenna let out a sigh. "I miss it there... it's been years since I've been in that castle." I noticed a hint of sarcasm in her voice as Sirius crackled a small snigger.
"We used to cause a lot of trouble," said Sirius with a proud grin. Jenna cleared her throat, as if to say that now wasn't the time.
"Oh, yeah?" George mused. "What did you do?"
"Pranking people, mainly," said Jenna before Sirius could have the chance to even open his mouth. "Mostly Filch."
Sirius gave her a warning look, as if she had said a curse word. But Jenna's grin only widened, looking like she just remembered something.
"Great stories we had at Hogwarts," she said.
"Don't," said Sirius warningly.
"Although there's this one in particular that stands out the most."
"Jenna!"
"Did you know Sirius actually kissed Filch once?" she finally blurted out.
"What!?" George and I exclaimed together, turning to face Sirius, who glared at Jenna furiously.
"You had promised you would stop telling that story!" Sirius told her angrily.
"Actually if I recall correctly, I promised that I would never let it go."
"Jenna, you tell them what exactly happened right now!"
"Okay, fine." Jenna sighed in defeat before turning to face us, saying, "it was in our sixth year, Sirius kissed Filch in the Gryffindor common room. It was quite passionate, actually —"
"That's not what I meant!" Sirius shouted as George and I roared with laughter, even though highly disgusted.
"Oops," Jenna grinned, "then perhaps you should've been more specific."
But before Sirius could protest any further, she winked at us and then turned on her heels to walk away, finishing her drink as she did.
George and I laughed while we watched Sirius go after her, talking rapidly to get her to deny what she had just said, but Jenna only kept grinning.
As Sirius was rambling on across the room, Jenna caught us off guard when she sighed and put down her glass before yanking Sirius's collar, suddenly pulling him forward for a kiss.
George rolled his eyes and walked away with a scoff, but I only smile to myself as Sirius seemed to have shut up completely.
Shaking my head with a grin, I turned around to go find Fred, but I stopped in my tracks the next moment, when something large and silver came falling through the canopy over the dance floor.
I drew out my wand before anybody else, my heart sinking, knowing exactly what awaited us.
The Patronus of a lynx landed lightly in the middle of the astonished dancers. Heads turned, Then the Patronus's mouth opened wide and it spoke in the loud, deep, slow voice of Kingsley Shacklebolt,
"The Ministry has fallen. The Minister is dead. They are coming."
Everyone froze on their spot as the members of the Order drew out their wands and I followed.
The moment the large cat disappeared, panic washed over the crowd as everyone got up, many guests Dissaparating. The protective enchantments around the Burrow had broken.
Moments later, people screamed and mayhem fell upon us when figures in dark masks appeared out of thin air, sending curses around.
"Protego!" I shouted as a Death Eater sent a curse at me, managing to block it.
"Lexi!" I heard Fred yell out my name through the crowd, but I couldn't see him. "LEXI!"
"Fr — UGH!" I screamed in pain as I felt a curse hit me from behind. I felt the breath being knocked out of my chest. My knees gave out of the pain and I fell to the ground, the blood leaving my side through the wound.
"LEXI!" I heard the voice closer than ever, but it faded to my ears as he kept calling me, the world soon going dark to my eyes.
